  1. Can someone help? I do not seem to be able to copy a photo from my Pictures Library to the text of my yahoo email. Previously with Windows XP, I merely right-clicked "copy" on the photo and right-clicked "paste" in the text box of the email. But when I try and do the latter the "paste" function is shaded grey and is not available.

  2. Do you suppose they will now call it a 75 day report?

As reported on the other post, you "lose" days, (9) in my last case:

This new "requirement", if indeed it is one, does indeed "lose" you days. My 90 day report was due on 12 December. Based on information provided in this post, I sent it out by EMS to Imm on 26 November - 15 days ahead of schedule plus two days for postage. I received the Receipt of Notification today. It is dated 3 December and it runs to the next reporting on 1 March 2013. So I've "lost" 9 days. The Receipt of Notification makes no mention of the need to send the report 15 days ahead of the renewal date. Next time I think I'll stick to what I've always done previously, and that is send it out at least 7 days ahead of the renewal date.

Otherwise they should change it to an "80 day report".

  3. Its called "spacial awareness"

Any where out side of the U.S. and Western/Northern Europe it does not exist. The latest generation there struggle with this concept also.

The car parking problem is the extreme indicator of this.

Join a queue and have hordes of others cram up your arse - they also go into a dead faint at the thought of you leaving more than 18 inches in front of you. You get ushered to move up. The queue does not go any quicker.

Get on a plane and watch morons trying to fit a large pull along travel bag in the over head locker that wont fit no matter which way you turn it. Then the bloody stewardess joins in and trys all the permutations before dragging it off to a locker some where else.

They never had as children the tub with the square cube, a triangle, a 2 inch round peg and the appropriate holes in the top to drop them through. They have never done a Jig Saw puzzle in their life so cannot match not only shapes but colours as well. They have no concept of how to use a map or even how map reading works even if they do down load GPS "apps" onto their latest iPhone. Give them a compass and they have no idea what is going on or why the red pointer stays in one place.

No idea how to even roughly guess how big a room is in square meters, how large a table top/work top/door/ window is in inches or mm with out a tape measure. And then still get it totally wrong when they deliver the finished products.

Do they care that they do not even have a fraction of these skills ? Do they want a Fallang to tell them how things really work? Not a jot my friends....

The list goes on and on and on and then you give an adult with the mental capacity of an 8 year old a whistle.............

One of the issues with measurement is that the measure is inaccurate. When I have made drawings for furniture or some interior design, I find their tape measure is from nowhereland. And spirit levels, well they are of course related to the nether world.

  5. Yes, just send the copy of your details page, and in the notes section state something along the lines of "submitting copy only of old passport as per exemption given to applications from Thailand".

Yes, you will need a countersignature of your details by someone with an acceptable passport, and their details, (at the end of the form, I think from memory).

I agree, the explanatory form is not all-encompassing. I rang their queries line and paid £1.25 per minute...

  6. Yes, but some of the downloads wont go onto USB, and even if they do, they don't play on the TV.

Format the USB stick (say, 16 GB) as NTSF, not FAT. Use a DVD player that has a USB slot as well (always useful). You can test it at the store before you buy. I'm not advising you to do anything I haven't done myself. smile.png

Can you only use this reformatted USB in a DVD player, or can you use it in the TV USB port?

  7. The best tourism market slogan I ever saw was that from the Australian Northern Territory:

"You'll Never Never Know If You Never Never Go"

As a tourist marketing tool the BKK motto? should maybe be in a form that translates to the target markets?

On par with some Thai language tourist information ?

Wonder why these are in English?:...lol

I notice the article you quote missquotes Hong Kong's "motto". It says: Hong Kong - "Asia's Word City". Is that because the Cantonese speak so beautifully?

  8. Sorry, I'm confused by the replies. Is the new rule that the 90 day report must be RECEIVED (by mail) at IMM 15 days before the due date, or that the 90 day report can be mailed 15 days before the due date?

In other words, say my due day is 15 October,

    1) do I mail it on 30 September,

or 2) do I mail it on say 25 September allowing it (variable mail delivery times permitting) to arrive at least 15 days before the due date?

  9. Unfortunately, these planes are not making profits for most airlines. If my memory is correct, Thai Airways wanted to "pull out" of the order agreement, but could not because of law suits (I believe). There are always huge numbers of Hongkong folks flying into Bangkok for the weekend, so maybe it can be used there to take business away from Cathay Pacific's 5 flights daily on a Friday to BKK. Maybe the double decker can be used for the Moscow flights since the Russians make up a large number of tourists here. It will be interesting to see where they use these six airplanes ...

    Start Dates

    Bangkok-Singapore (October 28th 2012)

    Bangkok-Hong Kong (October 28th 2012)

    Bangkok-Paris (February 16th 2013)

    Bangkok-Tokyo (January 16th 2013)

    Bangkok-Frankfurt (December 15th 2012)

    In respect to Russian service

June 21, 2012– Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest airline, has completed a purchase agreement with Airbus for four A380 aircraft. The Russian carrier plans to start operations with the A380 on its long-range network of high density routes from Moscow. The aircraft will feature a three class cabin layout, seating about 700 passengers.

Transero flies to BKK and HKT. It will be interesting to see if the planned expansion at HKT will accomodate the A380.

BTW, because the A380 can carry more pax than a B747, it offers a more revenue per seat opportunity on high density routes. I would expect TG to be using the A380 on the routes where it has its highest pax loads.

    what is HKT?

  10. The line was tested by the True technician yesterday. Today he reappeared and installed the new True ZyXEL router. He did fiddle around with the ADSL line at the socket. But, so far everything is working well...now that's probably put the kybosh on it.
