  1. It has been a couple of years but I bought the service for my grandson who was a teenager at the time. The service ensured he had no problems at Immigration or Customs and delivered him to the meeting point to meet us. Maybe unnecessary and over priced but I was satisfied the grandson got to us without a problem. Used the service sending him back home also.
  2. Bangkok immigration does not charge for transfer of data to new passport
  3. solution is get extension for 1900 tb and multi re entry permit for 3800 tb
  4. if spouse is unemployed she may qualify for what is known as gold card. This is actually universal health coverage for use at government hospitals and clinics. My wife uses it.
  5. USA ACH transfer ability ceased quit some time ago. Only transfers using International transfer system can now be used and most institutions do not have that capability. Most people now use Wise as a method of making transfers to Thailand.
  6. In the last 90 days of the O visa apply for an extension based on retirement. Full instructions for this are available, just do a search.
  7. Typical female student room, I rented dorm rooms and encountered the same from the female student renters. Parents never taught their girls how to behave.
  8. One incident in a college town of significant size makes it a savage city? Get real.
  9. I have a home in Bang Saen and love the place. It is a college town and roars with students having fun on the weekends (petty quiet during the week.) I walk the beach regularly and have never encountered a problem or witnessed a fight. As for Soi Dogs, try walking down a soi in Bangkok without encountering mean dogs, but seldom in Bang Saen even on the beach. Those that find Bang Saen boring or dangerous have a different expectation than myself, but over many years I still love the area.
  10. That is why it is named “Fix” since the rate is fix for the term of the account.
  11. It is the norm to have a passbook savings account here in Thailand. The no passbook (esavings) account generally require a passbook savings account before opening the esavings account. Open a regular savings account with the minimum tequired amount and then apply for the esavings account.
  12. Not recommended, many IO will reject photos if they are the same as last extension. They want current photos.
  13. Over the past 10 years of extensions at CW the IO has always required proof of residence and only once asked for TM 30. My experience, maybe not yours.
  14. Absolutely false statement. CW accepts my Yellow TB as proof of residence for the last 10 years of extensions. Also, the TDL accepts it for DL renewal in BKK.
  15. From very recent experience I can unequivocally state that a Pink ID card will not get one into the Thai healthcare system on its own. Siriraj Hospital has a 25% foreigner surcharge even with Pink ID (they could care less about the Pink ID.) Chula Hospital charges the same fee regardless of Pink ID (but much cheaper than most private hospitals.) Bangkok Hospital charges the same fee regardless and need my passport for registration, not Pink ID (Medical tourist may pay more.) Just be aware most Thai government hospitals will require a Social Security number (retired do not qualify)to to get Thai healthcare.
  16. Debit cards are immediate reduction of account funds where as a credit card (secured or not) is billed monthly. Most Thai bank credit cards have perks whereas debit cards do not.
  17. As far as I am aware CITIBank no longer has retail banking in Thailand so checking accounts for individuals are not available.
  18. KBank has a mobile application that allows ATM withdrawals, transfers, and account info access. I never use my ATM card anymore. Just a suggestion.
  19. The posts are interesting considering the degree of engineering eduction I suspect the posters have. Pile driving commonly causes shifts in the subterranean strata the can cause damage to nearby structures. In fact, from actual experience, my neighbors incurred damage to their houses when pilings were driven during the construction of a new house near theirs. I chose an alternate method to place pilings when building my house some 11 years ago to prevent any damage and the law suits that follow such damage.
  20. What is the current set of requirements for tourist entry to Japan from Thailand.
  21. Surprised the OP, having lived in Thailand for over 10 years, did not realize once his Permit to stay and reentry permit expired he had no Non-O any more and would need to follow the process to get a new Non-O. I suspect he has been enlighten as to the process. Good luck at the LA Consulate.
  22. 2.2 mil for a home in Seattle is not considered a luxurious home, just average in a place where a bungalow sells for 1 mil.
  23. Arkady, I hear you, but when one makes the choice to become Thai it effects many things. My sons, educated and trained in the USA, applied for jobs in BKK, the offers came with Thai salaries which were 60% of foreigner salary for the same job. With BPS it is not the kids nationality but the parents that count.
  24. Years of faking income to get a letter from the Embassy it seems, then using a an agent that circumvents the rules to get an extension. If the OP, after 16 years in Kingdom does not understand Thai Immigration policy shame on him and he got off cheap. I have dealt with CW on my own for many years for both Thai Wife and Retirement extensions and never had an issue. Never even a hint of Tea money.
