  1. In a provincial hospital, a GP will make anywhere from 50-70 thousand baht per month. If they are young doctors, older nurses and admin treat them like children in best cases.
  2. I'm not selling a car, but thought this would be the best place to ask this question: Retired and on a retirement visa. Can I buy a car in Thailand for cash? Loan? What are the rules? Thanks!
  3. Not sure. Asking for a friend. thanks for the info though. Cheers!
  4. Hello, Wondering about getting an uncontested administrative divorce in Thailand. Would that be recognized in the USA? Was married in the US to a Thai national but now living in Thailand. Maybe there is a thread on this already. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I guess this is the right forum for general information on Rayong. We are considering moving there. I have middle school aged kids, so I'm wondering about the schools. Are there some nice neighborhoods at reasonable prices? How's the air? Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated. Cheers!
  6. How do you certify your address through the immigration office? Bring a utility bill? Thanks!
  7. Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm in Khon Kaen. I will talk to them but wanted a heads up. Cheers!
  8. Hello, I need to travel to the US in March. My retirement visa expires at the end of April but I won't return until May. I want to extend it in early March. Is this possible? I have a Thai driver's license. Can I get an international driver's license with that? Thanks so much!
  9. Hello, I have not found this topic here, or it didn't appear in the search. I currently have a retirement visa based on 800K in the bank. It's very easy to get a visa this way, but it sure is a waste to not be able to invest all that money. I hear there is an alternative: Income Verification or Money Transferred in my Thai bank account. Is anyone familiar with this process? I am a US Citizen. Much appreciated!
  10. I wonder if living here and returning from your home country would be different...
  11. I'm up country and yesterday was the first day I went into Big C and saw people without masks. As soon as the gov dropped the mandate, I stopped. This new step is in the right direction.
  12. It's been normal for me since they dropped the mask mandate. Just hope it goes for the kids too. Masks in school is stupid.
  13. They still have it? Amazing. The next emergency will come when all the mandate harms come home to roost.
  14. Do not touch anyone, anytime unless it is clear that it is OK to do so. Just seems a bit scamy, woman walking so late at night in known area of prostitutes. Thailand is known for police scams teaming up with civilians.
  15. Plenty of examples of adaption. Air conditioning for one. Central heating. So many. Dikes. Come on. There's much more we can do. Please read the books Fossil Future or False Alarm. It's not time to panic. Leaders who are panicked make poor decisions.
  16. Yes, but policymakers are making disastrous decisions in an attempt to mitigate temperature change. Adaption is a proven method to deal with whatever is going on in the environment. In the meantime, pump the oil and innovate but do not make people poor with grand plans. Look what has happened to Sri Lanka. They can't grow enough food, but they sure did please their WEF overlords.
  17. Another climate clown. Most likely just back from a WEF meeting on sustainable butt munching. Humans have adapted quite nicely to changes in the environment. Deaths due to severe weather have dropped dramatically in the last 150 years. But please, be afraid, just make sure it's not fear due to weather but to the clowns driving climate policy throughout the world. They will devastate society far more harshly than any floods. Remember, we've never had floods before, so be afraid.
