Well If my wife wanted to get to BKK, (I don't drive any more) it is about 350 km.

We live in that blank area to the left where nothing is shown.

Between KPP and the house there are at least 40 ICE gas stations and no EV charging stations.

It is OK if you are on a main highway, but out in rural Thailand, which is the majority of the country and the people, there is very little to nothing unless you charge your EV at home.

EVs at present are fine but how many EV tractors, etans, iron buffalos, motorcycles are there available and at what price, for the majority of the poor Thai people?

if you read the op, plenty of MBs, all sizes and budgets.  Cheaper than ICEs, perform better, same or lower cost to buy in and maintain, though if looking for top end speed or 100 km range, stick to ICEs.

one brand seems to be quite popular and gets government incentives:

And what mobile washing machine could ever beat this:

"What are the fastest electric cars in 2023? The fastest electric car is Rimac Nevera 1408 kW that has top speed of 412 km/h (256 mph). The second is Aspark Owl that has a top speed of 400 km/h (249 mph) and the third fastest car is Tesla Roadster that has a top speed of 400 km/h (249 mph)"

I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet and AFAIK my nearest public charging point is on the route 1 AH 1 some 60 km away.

The MG Garage has 1 or 2, Robinsons has the same.

So, to charge my EV, if I had one, at a public charging point, I would lose 60km of battery charge just to get home again.

Do you have a map showing all of these wonderful charging stations?

You want to know where the stations are, that you'll never use.

Google, PlugShare, or ChargeLoma app if really interested.

People have posted more than enough links on AN if interested.  Although, you would probably be charging at home.  How many does one really need?

I think I have been in LOS probably longer than you, but is way off-topic regarding charging stations in LOS and the speed of topping up a gas ride...........????

    Please try again....????

I've been here a couple decades+, though irrelevent.

Not off topic, as explains the rise in new registrations, the topic.  Plenty of  charging points, so no topping up issues, unless weekend, which you should plan ahead and use  their reservation system.

Now, I'm topping up at home with solar, so pretty convenient.

Certainly EVs are fast until the battery goes flat. They sound a bit like a washing machine though, give me that visceral snarl of a turbo any day.

I prefer a smooth and quiet ride.

    Certainly ICEs are fast until;

    blow a rod

    need a tune up

    run out of oil

    drop a drive shaft

    pop a rear

    unbalance u-joint

    break a belt

    need a new clutch plate

along with need to replace any of the other 2000 moving parts

"A fully electric car has fewer moving parts, so they come with less ongoing maintenance costs. In fact, there are about 20 moving parts in an electric engine, compared to nearly 2,000 in an ICEV!"

  6. In the past (USA), my dogs never ate dog food.  Now, Thailand, it's about 50/50,  table/dog food.

As I myself now take a daily supplement, since not eating the most balanced diet here.  Hoping the dog food is fortified also.

Shouldn't be much of a surprise, as corporations have their lobbyist everywhere.

The large trucks and SUV are Status Symbols here in Thailand.  Nothing more.  They can physically sit higher than other road traffic, drive like bats out of hell, and feel superior.

Or maybe the owners prefer more comfort, performance and practicality with their purchase.  Buy what you want or what you  can afford.

I think the op's issue is simply the size, on smaller roads and finding large enough parking space to squeeze into.  Why I would never buy a long vehicle, or one of those wider SUVs or 4X4s.

Do enjoy the higher seating of a SUV (b class), and more cargo area over a sedan or hatchback, along with being a  shorter SUV.  As comfy as a Fortuner or like size SUV, I wouldn't want one for same reason op regrets having his truck.

I'm not but what sexual assault took place. They were on an escalator. Whatever it was there was little time for it. These days any contact at all in the nether regions can be construed as sexual assault.

Sexual assault (UK) can be any physical contact, if perceived to be sexual.

"What is sexual assault UK law?

The legal definition of sexual assault in England and Wales is when someone intentionally touches another person in a sexual manner, without that person's consent."

Possible example; in a pub, had a few to many, see a chickie, walk up to her, touch her arm to get her attention while saying 'you're pretty hot, I'd love to have sex with you'

in the past, you'd be guilty of being an ahole

now, you've just committed sexual assault

Of course very welcome as spectators at Gay Pride parades.

    But not at circuit parties.

As mentioned before they are completely different things.

Circuit parties are designed for specific types of gay men that don't even include the majority of gay men. Also circuit parties are definitely for adults only.

Had to google 'circuit party', and seem to be a not so inclusive party, by people constantly complaining about inclusiveness LOL

    "Circuit party

    Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Circuit_party

While open to anyone, the parties are generally viewed as social events primarily for physically fit and masculine-identified white gay men."

Do you have one? I'm genuinely curious.

And yes, that 270 HP of unabashed materialism does make me smile when I put my foot down.

Yes, I get the smile factors, as pretty confident my almost instant EV torque will match or beat that 270hp turbo off the line.

    Search the fastest vehicles, 0-60mph/100kph

    Hint; they won't be ICEs

And I get to pass all those petrol stations and spend my baht on things I actually want, instead of the fueling and constant maintenance of an ICE vehicle.

Did that for decades, so moved on from those old, inefficient low tech machines to something much better.

Last reply to you, and thread.

Be fair.... I might run out of fuel in a diesel truck after 1000 km, would an EV provide me such range to find a plug in point?

Nothing worse than being behind a diesel vehicle on motorcycle or even a bicycle.  Or walking if some idiot left it idling while parked.  That fuel really should be banned, except for maybe the trucking industry, for now.

Disgusting pollution, and you couldn't give me one.  I prefer not to contribute.

Why would anyone want to drive 1000 kms for pleasure ?

    All silly comparisons and arguments.

If you like your ICE, I'm happy for you, as it pays the tax base, and probably gives me a tax break.  I just prefer not to be behind you or live in a congested area with them spewing their pollution.

Well, the newspapers here are full of stories about: people getting stranded; range anxiety; people waiting hours queuing for charging looking longingly at others filing up with petrol in 5 minutes; people wishing they hadn't bought one; people complaining about the astronomical prices of replacement batteries, and; people complaining about massive depreciation on second hand sales.

You enjoy your EV, if you actually have one. I'll stick to my 270 HP turbo ICE that I can drive 500 km and fill up in five minutes.

Not in Thailand and seem like user error.   If you ran out of petrol, would it be the cars fault ?

    'if you even have one'

270 hp, useless materialism, sounds familiar

    Goodbye
