  1. Thanks. My 78 year old mother called me to tell me the game was starting in a couple hours and I panicked!

Any Laker, NBA or American sports bars here in Phuket? I had to watch the game at a hotel breakfast area today dubbed in Thai. I was the only customer and the staff seemed annoyed that they had to serve someone at that hour.

  2. some of whom have already expressed an interest in what I do, what I earn and what I own.

This is normal for people to ask you.... even if they aren't relatives. Wouldn't you make inquiries if a close family member was in the same position?

No. I wouldn't ask what people earn. I wouldn't ask about mortgage repayments, insurance, investments, cost of the car, what my business turns over and how much tax is paid .... and I don't tell people those things either. I'm happy to talk about the actual work I do, describe the house I live in, the colour of my car (silver) and the fact that I believe it is wise to have private health cover. But that's about it.

Interesting posts. I noticed it's a few years old. Any news, updates, regrets, advice?

  3. Classic pole Asians want to be whiter and europeans want to be darker doesn`t figure ooorrrr does it?

When watching Thai tv/commercials I can't get passed the stage lighting and makeup that makes the actors 5 shades whiter. But what about tanning in Japan(seems to be trendy with the girls). Also Filipinos, Hawaiians and other Polynesians don't seem hung up on whiteness? And Why is my profile avatar white here at thaivisa lol? I don't expect to see a brown one but dam_n at the very least it could have dark hair since this is a Thai forum.

  4. My condolences to all. But for all their drunkenness, none of this would've happened.

Its believed they had been drinking.........according to reports. Drinking what? We KNOW they were drunk do we??

True but COME ON! How many fights have you seen in the streets of Thailand where someone is under the influence and how many sober? Were they at temple? And when reports say "drinking", in this context it is understood to mean alcohol(including the cop), not lemonade. My speculations are based on the general consensus of available information being reported and human nature. I don't know the facts but I guarantee you that if alcohol wasn't involved, there would be no story to report. Anyone agree/disagree?
