Sorry I did not see your question until now. It took around 4 months to get registered. Eventually I had to hand deliver the district office's letter to the immigration department. There were an awful lot of documents they had to prepare to put me in the blue book but eventually it was done. Takes a lot of persistence

I am glad you have it done successfully , 4 months is really way too long... In my case, i waited about 2 weeks or so, and then was invited back to the district office  and had the interview done. Relatively smooth for me.

I am PR and it seens to make no difference although i have not really enquired to much.

I did make a half hearted approach to get a mortgage the other day and the banks said no can do. I mentioned i was PR as others have told me its made a difference for them, but the bank did not care... it was all a bit half hearted on my behalf though and i did not really put much effort in tl do it.

However my citizenship application is now been submitted to the MOI with 43 others...

Thank you for the information. I am not really concerned about bank or mortgage.  Just for a thai citizen, they could buy land/house/condo at a Thai price and have more options,  I hope PR holders could have the same benefit but obviously it is not possible.

Good lucky with your filing for the Thai citizenship.   I may do the same when the time comes.

  3. Hi everyone here,

I just got my permanent residency in Thailand this year.

Now I am looking at different properties and  have interest to have a place of my own.

    1) Except for the benefit of "no need to transfer payment from overseas to buy property“, is there any other benefit that i could enjoy as a permanent resident when I buy property?

    2) Can I buy a townhouse or detached house under my name?  Or condo and apartment are the only options?

    3) when I search on some app,  i saw listings indicates"foreigner quota" or "Thai quota", does it mean as a foreigner , only the ones with "foreigner quota" make sense to me?

    4) I am not really in a rush , now it is a good timing to buy or i should wait for 5 years after I become a Thai citizen? At that time, i could have more choices and lower price?

    Thank you for any comment.

The officer who was in charge called me. There was no such thing as a letter. I went to CW more than a month after I got the news of my approval. It was last year. That 7 day thing is for the Alien book at the police station after the PR book.

Yes you are right, the immigration called to inform.

How about the tabien baan registration, did you have to go in for an interview in the second time in district office  or amphor to get name registered and pink ID?

Have any PR holders any experience of registering on a tabien baan in Phra Khanong district in Bangkok?

I got my approval in February and I already have a yellow tabien baan from Phra Khanong but am having difficulty getting them to allow me to transfer into the blue one.

Firstly they asked for a lot of irrelevant documents, which I nevertheless provided (work permit, marriage certificate, child's birth certificate) and then they questioned the authenticity of the of my residence certificate and alien registration book. They said they would need to confirm with Immigration and the police.

It's been two months now and when I follow up they just say they don't get any reply and I should keep waiting.

    It's exasperating

    Hello Sir,

    How did it go afterwards?

I am now in the stage of entering my name into friend's tabien baan. The whole PR process is like jumping through hoops.

At the district office, the handling guy told that he needed to confirm with immigration and police, then he will ask me back for an interview later(donot know when...).  And I had to leave with uncertainty. I hope it will not be too long for them to come back to me.

Its an annoying quirk of the process. Bottom line is you need to find a Thai or someone else who owns a condo to add you to their book. Many landlords are not keen on this at all so better to find someone you know that will help you out even if you are not actually staying there.

Thailand its very common for people to be registered in one province but live and work in another but generally everyone is registered at a house in order to get medical coverage etc.

It is true, really annoying. Most of the residence would not help with house registration.

  7. Hello ,

I am in the process of PR, and i got the list of document required for obtaining certificate of residence from immigration today.

In the list, #3 document requires to provide "original and copy of house registration (certificate true copy)and checking the name of the local police station in which jurisdiction your home is?".

So if i am only renting the house , how can i get this house registration?

I see some previous post that people use their Thai friends' house registration. Are there other options?

And do i need to have my name added on the house registration before i show to the immigration department?

    Thank you for the answers!

  8. Hello  ,

I have two questions, could anyone reply me?

    - if the PR approve letter is sent, they will send to the address of office or to home?  Will they call to inform in advance? If not, what if the letter got lost?

    - I saw on some post saying that the receiver needs to report back to Immigration within 7 days of receiving the letter. But if at that time, i am travelling outside of the country and could not come back on time , will that lead to cancellation of the PR?

    Thank you for answering

  9. Hello ,

I read some old posts dated back to 10-20 years ago regarding the Pr process, the approving waiting time can vary depending on the year.

i am curious to know how long it takes from application to approval nowadays?

when did you apply and when did  you get approval letter?

And Is it necessary to extend the 6 months "Pr waiting stamp" even if i have valid non-b visa?

Anyone who has successful experience, could you share me yours?

    Thank you!

I had my PR interview in April and the immigration officer who’s assigned to my case didn’t mention any of this.

I can’t see what the point of this would be. I often work from 8-22 and on the weekend I’m at my gf or traveling or working. Even before Covid I would work at the Client most of the times. Now it’s wfh most of the time. I’m rarely in the office and our office is pretty empty these days.

I don’t have any relationship with my neighbors or anyone here. The security guy might remember me as the guy who always forgets his keycard. What would they want here?

I have called my immigration officer, she said it is handled by different departments so she is not very clear about it.

I am in the same situation, i donot work much in the office location and i had very little connection with my neighbors.

  11. Hello ,

i applied for PR in Thailand and went through the interview in April this year.

Then i was told that there would be officers visiting my workplace and residence randomly , and asking questions around as one of the process.

However, two months after the interview, no officer came so far.

Is this right? Normally when will these officers appear at the door?

And if anybody who they ask says something wrong, will it affect my application?

I am just a bit worried because normally i am not in the office to be present if they come to visit.

Highly appreciated if anyone with such experience can answer my questions.
