  1. Any news on Honda releasing a 250 in Thailand? The honda big-bike site still only has 'Coming soon' on their products page, not that i am sure what big-bike' means in Thailand!

I would be doubtful of the likely hood because any release of a 250cc will make the cost of the bike in the 100K plus price bracket and that limits its domestic market.

The Thai law (unless it has changed) still limits the bike capacity to 200cc. This means any larger capacity such as 250cc is an import and heavily taxed and limited in numbers.

  2. Hi all,

just to let everyone know I am putting my beloved CBR150 Repsol up for sale at 25,000baht. It is a 2004 model, has 44,000km on the clock and in excellent mechanical condition. I am waiting for my ad to be approved on the classifieds and will provide a link but anyone interested can contact me by pm here. The bike is currently in Pattaya but will be heading back to Chiang Mai in about a week. There is the usual wear and tear and some cosmetic damage but easily rectified. The decals under the back seat have been marked because I hung two helmets and they rubbed the sides (M&*^$%kes!!) but I have a set of original replacement decals to fix that or hand over to the new owner. A couple of dings in the petrol tank but they add character to a great allrounder motor cycle.

  3. I had a great party as always - I haven't missed one on the TV bbq in CM yet and came up from Pattaya for the event. Long trip up on Thursday night and then back on Sunday to start work on Monday was a bit harsh :o

Great to meet up with good friends and to meet new ones, I would have liked more time to speak with many of the attendees but Uncle Buck and I were a touch busy with the bbq most of the night.

Big thanks to the sponsors and Chas & Rachel

Biggest thanks must go to George without whom it would not be possible.

    cheers

  4. There are a number of choices

My personal favourite is Ning at So1 Loy Kroh - speaks good English, excellent skills and nice guy.

A couple of the guys at Naga also Loi Kroh opposite CM saloon are good. I have not had any work done by Ugly and his team there but some people I know have and happy with the work.

When you get it done - post a picture of it, always interested in other people art

  5. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we lost 2 "greeters" to check in members for the party next Saturday.

We need 2 local members to meet and greet attendees upon arrival....any volunteers?

    Please pm me.....thanks.

Sorry Bucky, I am one of the "greeters" who cannot make it next Saturday. As you can see by the attached image, I am a real dump of a location at the moment and need to find this little fishy's older brother next weekend.

Many thanks to Thai Visa, George, Buckwheat and all the others who are putting the party together. Hope the night is a great success, I am sure it will be. Enjoy.

Blinky mate - not coming to the party? Major disapointment my friend. Will have to have to persevere without you active contribution to the reduction of beer in CM.

    enjoy the fishing

  6. Sorry, my memory of CM is not that good. Is there any cheap to medium range "walk in" hotels in the vicinity of tuskers or is that the other side of town?

Basically something no frills but clean & car park would be great if anybody has any recomendations.

    Cheers,

    Soundman. :o

You needing short or long time?

I have my tickets booked and will be there for the bbq - looking forward to it

I am American, but I drink like an Australian! :D:o

So you get drunk real quick, like after 2 bottles of VB. :D:D:D

I've never had a VB. I always have a Fosters if I drink Aussie beer. I've heard Australians prefer V.B. - I must try it.

No one in Australia drinks Fosters - it is so bad we export it to the world in fear that we may have to drink the stuff if any remains

Try Carlton Draught - I prefer it to VB

  8. Well, now......here's something I never knew before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to send it on to my more intelligent friends in the hope that they, too, will feel edified. Isn't history more fun when you know something about it?

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew").

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew! Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird."

IT IS STILL AN APPROPRIATE SALUTE TO THE FRENCH TODAY!

Wrong and wrong. While your statement is a joke it is not funny so does not not belong here

  9. I know this is a personal opinion but, for the best Italian pizzas in the whole of Thailand, try "Spaghetteria Italia" located on the corner right inside Jomtien Complex Plaza. The husband of the owner is Italian and he insists that all ingredients for the entire Italian menu must be genuine Italian.

My favourite pizza place too - they also deliver to the bars in the Jomtiem Plaza.

  10. LOL Donna, reminds me of the pm I got from a member who apparently met "me" at one of the Chiang Mai pisups.

They mentioned it was nice to meet me but then went on to have a bit of a snide about my profile age being 33. Naturally having never been to CM I was a pit put out but after investigation it turned out that one of our members took his wife with him & she is actually called Boo but not a member here. So some were assuming she was me but as she is a bit older than 33 thought I had been telling porkies about my age on my profile page :o

It was a mistake made by quite a few of us up there, the person really is called boo and is the partner of another member down in Pattaya.

Pleased everyone who attended had a good time.

  11. pray to whatever friend of choice in the great beyond that nobody pulls out in front of you causing you to smash on your brakes and crush your family jewels.

On my Repsol I have a perfect impression of that part of my anatomy from exactly that situation. If you think blue balls is painfull then wait until they are black and purple from the bruising.

  12. ^ take the Sukhumvit road south (towards sattahip). After Nong Nooch take the next right turn. This road will take you to Bang Saray beach (500m or so).

As you turn left to drive along the beach road, there is a seafood restaurant on the left (can't remember the name, but you can't miss it). Further along, there is a seafood restaurant on the right - on a pier over the sea.

There are others - but I think the OP must be referring to one of these two.

    Thanks very much

  13. The auto body and paint shop that the Honda dealer uses is 'TP Paint and Auto Body". I have had repairs done there, and they do very good work. They're located on the east side of Sukhumvit, at Soi 7. There's a traffic signal just past the shop, as you drive toward BKK. Make a U-turn there, and the shop is just a few yards after you turn.

Does anyone know if they do powder coating as well?
