  1. There is no rational justification for masking children at this point in the pandemic. Indefensible. Simply astounding that this is being reported.
  2. None of those reasons really applied in 2019, when you could go days in Thailand without seeing a single mask. Most thais hadn't even worn a mask, ever, before 2020. Have you left Thailand in the past year? Do you understand how little masks are now worn anywhere else in the world, where all these same "issues" are present. And the sky has not fallen. The actual main reason you left out is- social confirmism pressure. That's why Thais are still wearing them, your reasons sound practical, but are not reality. Thankfully that's (far too) slowly finally changing here. The idea of wearing face coverings indefinitely is just not a good one. If don't take the masks off now, then when?
  3. This is it. Just a couple more things need to occur to get Thailand back to "normal" as relates to covid. 1. Thai officials need to tell their people they can stop wearing masks. 2. The alarmist media reporting needs to stop.
  4. Excellent to see the WHO acknowledge this. Maybe this will help Thailand join the rest of the world, and stop treating covid like it's March 2020. One can only hope.
  5. WHO declares COVID-19 over as a global health emergency. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-65499929 "Yesterday, the Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended to me that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I've accepted that advice. It's therefore with great hope that I declare COVID-19 over as a global health emergency," Dr Tedros said.
  6. Every stadium, everywhere else in the world, every day, is like this. Barely a mask in sight. This is normal.
  7. Yes, of course, Normal is not wearing masks, like the vast majority of the world currently. Including previously "masked up" nations like Japan and China, who are rapidly ditching them. It's not "normal" to go about your day to day life, indefinitely wearing a face covering. Thailand now has the dubious honour of the world's most masked country - is that a normal you'd like to see to continue?
  8. So did you check the stats on those same countries? Some of the countries you're advocating that "masking saves lives" actually had more cases / transmission, yet lower deaths. So - masks weren't the correlating factor.....
  9. Masks don't affect deaths. Arguably ( at best) they affect transmission. So run those same countries and time periods with cases recorded. Not nearly the correlation you are looking for? So then think again?
  10. No. Nothing even close. Mainstream media coverage of covid worldwide is very low and falling. Thailand now has the very dubious honour of world's most masked up country, a title coveted by.... no one!
  11. I guess it’s a long time since you’ve been to NSW, if you had - you’d understand 3. is being followed by maybe 1 in 1000 people in the state.
  12. Here, trying to reason with the few people like you now left, holding Thailand back from rejoining the rest of the world, that have well and truly moved on from living in fear of covid?
  13. 5 deaths of elderly in a week , 4 unvaccinated ( had 3 years to get it) -in a country of 70 million ? Hospitalisations are minuscule proportionately.
  14. Can't believe this even makes the news. 5 elderly people die in a week in a country of 70 million. OK. Rightly or wrongly, they chose not to take a vaccine that's been available now for 3 years. Only in Thailand, is covid still this kind of news worthy. Only In Thailand, do you feel like the pandemic is still raging. These articles really, should no longer be published.
  15. Does this please you? 1 overreaction in a few settings in one country, while the rest of the world is practically mask less and where it's not, rapidly moving in that direction. I guess you don't support personal choice, and want everyone else to be as hyper anxious over covid as you are? When the WHO rescinds the public health emergency next month, will you accept the pandemic is receding then?
  16. Source was Reuters - quoting local media. Regardless, PHSMs are being ended, even in places where they were the strictest, and aren't coming back.
  17. Even China is truly ditching the masks now. Is Thailand the only place in the world still masking? https://www.reuters.com/world/china/era-has-passed-beijing-subway-drops-mandatory-covid-mask-rule-2023-04-16/ "Staff at a Beijing subway station tore down signs reminding people to wear masks, Beijing Daily reported. The pandemic is nearing its end, based on World Health Organization data, said Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the China Daily."
  18. Thai media has a strange obsession with this virus. IMO their coverage of it causes far more concern than warranted. Elsewhere in the world coverage of it has practically ceased, yet it's still a front page story here frequently. Clearly the pandemic is ending. Overall, Worldwide cases and deaths are as low as they've been since early 2020. Time to move on.
  19. It is quite clear that masking is, finally, ending in Thailand. Some provinces slower than others, but, Hallelujah.
  20. Hear hear! Come on CP Group, time to stop the ludicrous mask mandate for your staff..... Your customers are now showing their faces again, time for the staff to smile again!!
  21. Yes, everything you have said is correct and I agree, however I can tell you for sure there were far more than the 3 listed on that page when I was there a few weeks back. Must have seen at least 10. Not sure they were all official translators , sort of concierges / chaperones too. Anyway, just a reflection of the demographic at the time.
  22. No, it is important to allow this discussion. We don't want "Lese Mask-Jeste !!!" Mask wearing is a key social issue present in Thailand ( and now, hardly anywhere else on earth) . It's not 'up to them' , when mostly now being done solely for social pressure reasons. Discussion and criticism of this absurdity ( absurd in my opinion, yours is clearly different) is part of healthy discourse. There has been some very well considered and constructed comments / analysis ( see Highlandman and Richard Smith ) that is not just bickering, it's actually valid discussion.
  23. Very well said. This is exactly what needs to happen and soon. I believe it'd be an election winner........Bring back the Land of Smiles!! Seriously, I don't think Thais understand how much the rest of the globe has moved on from mask wearing. The world is simply a a better place, when most peoples faces are uncovered.
  24. Thank you. This was done with a "pigtail" and additionally, they also installed an RCBO. I'll call that a win.
  25. One water heater only, pictured, has ELCB Can the fridge power cord + plug simply be changed to a 3 pin?
