  1. Pro tip, if taking the pictures in Thailand the photo shop will add dress shirt and tie in the computer after taking the picture if you ask them, they even smooth out wrinkles in your face before printing and/or emailing you the pictures.
  2. That is correct, I did not get a paper from embassy since my embassy informed me that they don’t provide this paper anymore and that immigration would be aware of that, I actually forgot about that paper until you mentioned it now, immigration did not even ask me about it.
  3. So this morning at 8.40 I showed up at immigration office at Chamchuri square, I didn’t bother going to BOI first but went straight to information counter at immigration, they give out a form called “Transfer stamp to new passport form” and tell you to go make copies of all stamps and visa and photo pages etc. I had already prefilled the same form on my computer and printed and made all copies beforehand (except for the latest entry stamp) as I came straight from the airport. the officer checked all my papers and then told me to go make a copy of the entry stamp from today. After I did that she stapled all papers together with a queue number, I got E030 it was already at 12 when I arrived but I had to wait about an hour for my turn. after 30 minutes more waiting the man handling my passport told me he needed me to make all the same copies again because he apparently had to send them to the airport so they could update my passport number. 30 minutes more and it was done, I left at 10.40 with my passports. he used one page to transfer my two previous visa exempts from last year, (good thing I didn’t use my other previous passport as that had at least 20 visa exempt entries, I had dual passports from same country previously) he stamped the same stay permit as in the old passport, with a re entry permit only valid until august this year as that was my old passports validity, he then used another page for another stay permit and a new re entry permit with 5 year validity from the date I was stamped with LTR. and then of course 1 page for the LTR visa itself, all in all 4 pages. he also changed the entry stamp from this morning when I arrived at Suvarnabhumi, I was stamped in until 16 January 2028 as that is my new passports validity, which isn’t correct, but the strange thing is he corrected it to 6 august 2023 which is the old passports validity. sorry for a long post.
  4. I was also told, or rather the list of needed documents said that you need a “certificate from embassy” I was in contact with my embassy in Bangkok, (Swedish embassy) and they told me that they do not provide this document anymore and that the Thai immigration has been made aware of this and if any issues the immigration was welcome to contact the embassy. so I’m hoping everything will go smooth next week when I go there after arriving back in Thailand on my new passport.
  5. Did you need to contact boi in advance or just walked in? Im coming in on a new passport in a couple of weeks and need to go there and transfer my LTR from my old to new pp.
  6. Regarding taxes and WFTP category, this information is from LTR visa unit today, apparently there is no 180 day rule and one should not register with the revenue department. As those were my questions for them. “ Dear Mr. ******, For WFTP, you have to work for company oversea, so you do not need work permit. Applicant have to work remotely for overseas company from Thailand. And yes, income from overseas is tax exempt. You do not need to register with the Thai revenue department. Kind regards, LTR Visa Unit
  7. “Fees won’t be collected from foreigners with work permits” So I guess that means that us who are on a work-from-Thailand-professional visa will need to help pay for uninsured peoples accidents even though we ourselves are required to hold an insurance, seeing as apparently we are not allowed to receive a work permit (even though we are supposedly allowed to work here) https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2480200/b300-tourist-fee-to-take-effect-in-june?fbclid=IwAR3MG8r-C-j-Abhe3EAcB28eo4x0Ikw4rQ4ITgrYw949lVOc7BzbkBAxnDw#lcrega0cs5d1f9646ic
  8. 2022-09-01 applied for WFTP without work permit 2022-09-01 received a request for additional documents. “We found that your company is a subsidiary of *** (company name). Consequently, your company is not qualified as a listed company.” Instead they requested an “audited financial or annual report”. 2022-10-29 I was not able to produce an audited annual report so after much thought I uploaded a letter informing them of my company’s approximate yearly revenue and that it should basically be considered a listed company even though it’s through a parent company. 2022-12-01 Received a email that my application had been approved and that I should log in to my account and follow the required steps: choose if I wanted to have my visa issued in Bangkok or abroad. I chose Bangkok so I also needed to provide them with my entry details and current address in Thailand, that was filled in to a form on my LTR account page. 2022-12-06 I got a bit stressed because I hadn’t heard from BOI in almost a week and I would have to leave the country by the 14th. so I sent them and email and explained that to them. 2022-12-08 In the morning I received a request to upload a file with pictures of all my passport pages containing stamps relating to Thailand. Of course I should have done this on the 1st of December when I filled out my entry details but somehow I forgot that step. In the afternoon same day I received email that “Your Notification Letter for Qualifications Endorsement for your LTR Visa has been successfully issued.” and I was asked to book an appointment for visa issuance. 2022-12-13 I had my LTRWFTP inked in to my passport at BOI/immigration at Chamchuri square.
  9. I received my work-from-Thailand professional visa a couple of weeks ago (applied sep 1st, inked it in on dec 14th) , when I received my visa at BOI in Bangkok I asked about getting a work permit for a “second” job in my Thai company and was told that it would be possible. Yesterday I sent an email to LTR asking for some more information about this and received a reply today stating that “Work-from-Thailand Professionals category cannot request for digital work permit because the main intention for this category is to work for company outside Thailand, not for company inside Thailand.” So I wonder who is correct, the agent at BOI that I met with or the person who replied to my email. this also raises some questions: 1st: potential pathway to permanent residency or citizenship, because from what I’ve read there is a requirement to hold a work permit to be eligible. https://www.belaws.com/thailand/thailand-ltr-visa/ “Can you achieve Thai citizenship with the LTR visa? The LTR visa is a resident visa, therefore it is possible to apply for permanent residency or citizenship. Applicants are subject to the same application requirements as other visa types.“ 2nd: where can I find the law that says that I can legally work for my foreign employer on my computer holding a LTR visa when I’m in Thailand because I’m pretty sure I’ve read that you can do that with LTR, whereas previously it was said that you can not work online in Thailand without a work permit, ie. making remote work illegal? Also some other things you need a work permit for, 5 year driving license for example, so that will also not be available for those of us who have the WFTP category. If one reads under the “WHAT PRIVILEGES WILL BE OFFERED TO LTR VISA HOLDERS” on the LTR webpage it doesn’t say that WFTP are excluded from exemption of 4 Thai to 1 foreigner or permission to work in Thailand (digital work permit)
  10. Yes, I was pleasantly surprised as well, the quick reply I got was when I used the form on the LTR website, I actually sent an email to [email protected] first because I thought maybe that would be quicker (that address was used when I made my appointment) but I never received a reply. when I received my reply from the web form it was from the address [email protected], and a follow up question to that email address was replied to just as quickly.
  11. Thank you, and you were correct, it is the same as for SMART visa. I sent them an inquiry this morning and had a reply couple of hours later (see below). Now I just need to have confirmation that I can enter Thailand at Suvarnabhumi immigration with my old punched passport together with the new unused and that they will accept that.
  12. Found this when browsing their page today, https://smart-visa.boi.go.th/smart/pages/how-to-manage.html Says it takes 15 days to process, I know at least my embassy does certificate of residence for 600฿ on the same day, worth it in my opinion. I recently got one from a local immigration office (Had Yai) and that took one day and free of charge.
  13. Hi all, I’m wondering if anyone have got a clue how it works if you need to move the LTR visa to a new passport (expires next year), the young chap at BOI said that I need a document from my embassy, I talked to my embassy who says that they stopped issuing these documents and told me that the main immigration office should already have informed the other offices about this fact. They guy at BOI also said that I had to buy my new passport from my embassy in Thailand (would prefer not to as 4x price) and that then they would be able to transfer stamps at BOI (immigration), but at times he was contradicting himself, seemed somewhat confused as if he’d never had that question before. Tia
  14. Got denied within an hour with the following reason given: We found that your company is a subsidiary of “company name”. Consequently, your company is not qualified as a listed company. Working for a company that is owned by a company listed on the stock exchange is not enough apparently.
