  1. My first order with FP was a total delight. ordered from my arm chair online and was eating hot food from "The Lone Star Grill Soi LK" 45 mins later. the website is much easier and faster than the other food delivery companies like door2door and wow. you can order online without speaking to anyone. which after all is what online ordering is all about right.. I Love it. (Unfortunately With d2d and wow call you back 10 mins later and repeat everything to you) which basically defeats the object of online ordering if you have to speak to them on the phone anyway, all it does it delays your order 10 mins waiting for them to call you only to have to speak to an annoying thai chic bleeting in your ear.. "Misterrr... blah"
Anyway back to Foodpanda, after my first initial good experience I tried again 3 times, each time was a total drama and I ended up with either no food delivered or waiting 2 hours.
one time they called me back twice telling me to choose a different restaurant and start over from scratch. Painful.

So basically I just feel is such a shame that FP seems to be full of snags like the other delivery companies.

Has anyone else tried FP? was I just unlucky to get all the drama?

  2. The first day, we ate at Lek Hotel for our breakfast. It was very very basic, not many choices, cold food with a fly resting on a piece of pancake. 150 Baht per person.

The second day, we were going to try at Apex or Diana Inn after reading a few posts on Thai visa. We got off near Pattaya 12 when we saw the sign to "Lek Hotel"

There is Hotel LK Empress right at the entrance of Pattya soi 12. It looks really really nice both from the outside and a glace at the selction different food. 190 baht per person, well worth it in my opinion.

Highlight for me - grilled duck slices in sauce, crab curry, roasted beef in gravy, museli with yogurt and fruits (kiwi, dried cranberries, raisins), different kinds of cornflakes (whole wheat, choco etc), tea/coffee from coffee machine ( espresso, cappucino, black coffee, mocha, chocolate drink etc), pastry spot (croissant, danish, cakes and cookies), fruits and salad bar.

I really enjoyed my time there.

I will give LK Empress a try one day soon. Thanks for the heads up.

LK Emp has some interesting reviews on tripadvisor

  3. In my opinion, salad bar in Sizzler is the best option in this price range.

Not being rude but you obviously have your head up your ___ if your only recommendation is Sizzler for breakfast :)

Oscars jomtien plaza does an average OK breakfast buffet worth a try but I think the best breakfast buffet is Casa Pascal (not sure the prices)

  4. If the bill has gone past its due date you can no longer pay at Seven 11. so you have to go direct to the Electric company " Gaan Fye Far "
They have 2 offices, 1 in Naklua near Banglamung police Stn, and 1 in Chaiyaporeuk 2 Jomtien. (Jomtien much less waiting or cueing)

  5. They + 7% gov vat. no service charge though.
I think that most of the staff are the same as when it was shenanigans. They have basically put a "The Acorn" sticker over anything that said shenanigans, it still feels like it did when it was shenanigans but the staff seemed to be slightly more on the ball than before...

They have a really good kids play area out of the way of the main bar.
They do a fairly cheap breakfast menu (120 baht for 2 crumpets with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon) which I thought was very cheap tasted good but the crumpets needed more butter

They serve Mokador coffee ( good coffee )
The place is definitely worth a visit. I will go back next time im in the area.

  6. BAKERS NEEDED
Since Rick the baker sadly died last year I dont think there is any authentic foreign run bakery like you would find back home in Europe, he used to start baking at 4am daily.
Since Pattaya is a night time city most cafes dont open until 8.30 and I would imagine that most of the pastry at that time would be from the day before.
Maybe Foodland bakery or Macro bakery might have fresh pastries early in the morning before other places.
I will ask KIM the baker for you (he closed his bakery but might know of other proper ferang bakeries)

  7. Tanqueray Ten and Hendrick's I always buy Duty Free while travelling, for the others no idea, but would love to know too...

But if you might come across a rare BEEFEATER Crown Jewel, please let me know...

    Cheers,

    C.

Italasia Trading (Thailand) Co Ltd (022617990) Import and retail Hendricks Gin and Brokers Gin, you can find in your local Italian food wholsale shop Hendricks is about 2200 baht per bottle so only about 15% more expensive than buying in UK

  8. Does anyone know where I can buy Fine or rare imported spirits Gin / liqueurs in Bangkok (by the bottle)
Im looking for Gins and spirits that you dont see in supermarkets like Tanqueray Ten, Plymouth Gin, Black Gin, Leopolds Gin, Vine Nouaison Gin
please be as detailed as possible with any info.. websites, phone numbers etc Thanks appreciate any info

  9. reading the OP's post he mentions freshly cooked veg, yorkshires etc both The Chill Bar or Nana Deli do this and at Nana's you can have a small yorkshire or a large one with all of the roast in it - blooming lovely.

Nana Deli is co-owned by a English guy Nick - hence Nana Nick.

I assumed when a 'cheap charlie' roast was mentioned the OP meant some of the more choicer places in town - 99 baht etc, The Chill and Nana DEFINITELY do not fall into that category, give em'a go.

    Jimmy

This turned out to be an excellent recommendation, Freshly cooked sunday roast. fantastic fresh and thick cut roasted lamb nice gravy etc.

I took my mother and father who were staying from UK and they also said it was excellent food.

So NANA DELI gets my vote for the best Sunday roast lunch in Pattaya so far

  10. The guy who did my yard is available. We researched this a bunch, got lots of quotes, and this guy was the best. For the price. He's the head gardener for one of the bigger villages here and does lots of freelance work. Speaks English and followups. Even 3 years later, he still comes back to take care of the odds and ends...tough to beat. Very nice man. He's busy, but available. Let me know if you are interested. Pics here:

Ok Thanks I have PM'ed you

  11. Im looking for a phone number or location of a garden centre that I can call and they can come and overhaul my garden, re plant all new trees and lovely plants etc etc and make it look beautiful.
I went to my local one near Pratumnak and asked them to come. that was 1 week ago and no sign of anyone! Im guessing they dont need the money. sometimes things seem so difficult in Pattaya...

  12. Comment on the Ritz roast dinners.

    Yes they are quite good.

The set meal includes an appetizer and a dessert.

The appetizers are OK, but rather bland, OK, it's English food. The Minestrone is about as Italian as Betty White.

The desserts are very good when they are very good, but there is a luck factor and visiting over time, some noticeable issues with CONSISTENCY, for example sometimes cold desserts being incorrectly iced and tasting of the fridge.

Seriously, I would ASK which desserts are GOOD tonight? Works if they still have any.

Reservations are NOT always needed especially for small parties.

Sounds like they may have started to slip since John has stopped cooking?? Not sure why you would recommend people not to reserve? why would set your self up for disappointment or a wasted trip when 1 phone call could set you up for a successful experience, restaurants are more likely to give a warmer reception to a customer that respects them enough to take 1 minute to book a table in advance. Ive seen plenty of people turned away due to lack of tables. But im talking about nearly a year ago since we were there frequently, Maybe things have changed?? your comment about inconsistencies has me worried that its gone down hill. I will pop in asap for a meal.
  13. as I was reading the post I immediately thought of two places, The Chill bar, we eat there regularly including yesterday and it's always lovely, it isn't the most expensive available but that doesn't reflect the quality as it's very nice, the place is owned by an Aussie guy who taught his Mrs, well worth a trek, the other place is Nana Deli on Soi Kow Noi, again not the most expensive but very very nice and cheap drinks as it sells them as a shop rather than a bar but they have waitress service, it's on the left hand side right up the top just before the right bend, well worth a trip, we eat between the two places on alternate Sundays etc.

    Bon appetit!!

    Jimmy

+1 on Nana Nic is perfectionist, however from OPs post would drop into cheap chalie brackett, great midweek roast on a Wednesday as well opposite the market.

Tell us more about Nana Nic?? or nana Deli ? doesnt sound like a place to get a fresh roast dinner?
  14. 1 that has to be mentioned is: CAFE RITZ inside jomtien plaza (complex)

Unfortunately Closed on Sundays and only opens for dinner (6pm+) So this one doesn't comply with this topics requirements for Sunday Roast..

BUT without doubt the best restaurant around serving FRESHLY cooked (traditional English home cooked style) Roast Lamb with fresh yorkshires etc Served Fresh every night 6 nights per week.

English Owner John is 89 years old and was cooking nightly himself up until a few years ago but has now trained his Thai wife and staff to do it exactly as he did.

The lamb melts in your mouth, the yorkshires are johns 70yr old recipe since he was 19 years old cooking in the Navy. you can tell they have come straight from the oven red hot.

Fresh apple & raspberry pies and crumbles, sponge and custard all your Grannies classic english desserts cooked fresh daily also. This is English cooking at its best.

So if you dont mind having your roast on a Mon to Sat evening this is without doubt the best quality and best flavored and freshest Roast you can get in Pattaya as far as I am aware.

The Restaurant is FULLY booked every night hence everything is Cooked fresh and Eaten every night.

This is a destination restaurant. make sure you book its only a small place. 087 912 9108 (people have been known to fight for a table)

Clientele are not cheap charlies. mostly older generation, ferang couples & familes and obviously gay couples/groups baring in mind it is in Jomtien complex smile.png

    The secret is now out.

Cafe Ritz - fights and gay groups - thanks for the warning, off my list of places to go

Ha! Trust someone ignorant to discard all the good and attempt to extract something negative from my superb recommendation. Glad that is is off your list !! Do gay people scare you? We have dined there Many times and have never been bothered by anyone gay or Hetro !

  16. agree with previous comment about Chill Bar, Soi Muslim, East Pattata, sensational meal at 160bht. Staff very friendly also.

Thanks for the tip BUT Dont forget, the idea is to find a high quality ((Non Cheap Charlie) no expense spared lunch.

160 baht???? it is impossible to put on any kind of quality imported meats & lamb or quality anything for that matter at this price. and assuming that the Beer is also as cheap the place would be full of Cheap Charlies which is exactly what I am trying to avoid.
