are they tubeless? if not can try convert to tubeless, most bike shops should be able to do it for you fairly cheaply, 1500-2000 baht.

theres a group called Bangkok hash house bikers, they've got a website and facebook page, its a mtb cycling group that meets once a month and a lot of the riders have various types of racks o I suggest contacting or posting on their facebook page and im sure youl get plenty of responses about them and might even pick up a decent second hand one if you ask if anyone wants to sell.

If your after schwalbe tyres then world bike (giant dealers) are distributors of schwalbe.

Ahh k, thats odd, i wouldve thought they could be found here these days. Also try a facebook group called bangkok hash house bikers, there are some very knowlegable and exlerienced riders on there, im sure someone on there will have a source for good tyres here.

have you looked at any bicycles stores yet? there are quite a few around chonburi, rayong and pattaya areas that all sell high quality parts and accessories. check out a website called bicyclethailand or a facebook page called cycleadventurethailand for detailed lists of shops.

sorry for the slow reply, havnt checked in here for a while. nah ive never actually taken my mike over the border there. ive crossed over ther numerous times though and its all pretty loose there so i very much doubt youd have a problem, just ignore all the dickheads claiming to help you or telling you need this and that. unfortunately do to other events that have popped up im not positive if il still be doing this event now.

thanks for that, wasnt aware they moved it. have you also heard that its suppose to be taken over by siam commercial bank and will renovate and upgrade it. hopefully it happens. theres an article on it in the bangkok post and as can post links here youl have to google search it. cheers

Hey mate, thanks for the reply and interest. Ahh didnt realise thats the kings bday weekend, hope it wont be too busy then. I would cross at the poipet border crossing, which is only about 200km from my home in chonburi, last time i went there they were widening the highway so hopefully its finished now. Have you been there before? Pretty cool place with quite a few casinos just inside the border and a big market on the thai side selling just about everything. Theres a big security parking that we normally leave the car at also.
Theyve also recently redone the border area, used to take ages to line up getting back into thailand but my friend that just went said it was very quick and hassle free. Getting into cambodia there is relatively easy, just got to ignore all the visa agent guys.
Ive prebooked taxi before but there are plenty waiting in a soi about 200 metres once through the border and can haggle the price down to around 1000 baht for the drive into siem reap. Although if could find a van that could be a good option too.
Enjoy ur trip and ride this week and see now you feel after if would like to do it again. Its a great place, with some good farang food there. I stayed at a really nice resort at a great rate last time but forgot the name, il have to find fit.
Would be good to do it with a small group maybe, i may even post on thaimtb to see if any thai riders or other farang would like to join.
Cheers

Im considering doing this race/ride on 6th december, seems like a decent event for a good cause and its a great place. I was thinking to go 2 or 3 days earlier, drive to the border and ride the bike from there into siem reap. Ive done the border to siem reap a couple times in the taxi and the road seems fine, just one straight long road approx 160km into town.
My wife and daughter would probably join but take the taxi. Was curious to see if anyone would be interested in joining me for such an adventure?

I doubt that price applies to the serious thai riders, maybe someone knows? However a better alternative would be the masters tour of chiang mai, looks a little less intensive, alot cheaper and well organised.
