Can some of the experts on here please explain in layman's terms how the baht has got so strong in the last week or so ? With all the political manouverings and sky high household debt, how has is moved from close to 37 / USD to today's level of 33.5 ??
It's not that the Baht is getting stronger. It's the USD that is getting weaker in Value, pushing up the value of weaker currencies like the Baht.

Yes what is it with these amounts Where is it written down in the system the actual amount That comes under the radar this would be very interesting to know if anybody knows not bar talk really written down somewhere With Thai stamp government blah blah blah
There is no under the radar amount. It's the accumulation of funds over the year that count. If you bring a minimum of 120,000.00 Baht you would not pay taxes, but can you live on that through 1 year? What you are suggesting is Tax avoidance. The RD don't do tax avoidance so you won't find a minimum amount under the radar, stamped signed or sealed by the RD.
So with the allowances the RD give, if you bring in 600,000.00 Baht a year you can reduce this to an amount less than 120,000.00 Baht, so you wouldn't pay any tax. So that would be your max amount. Bring over that amount and you would start to pay tax.

Oh they need alright. Who's going to pay for their "we want to be left alone" security when they go on royal trips abroad. Trying to be royal costs money. Harry could always stack shelves at his local Walmart. Its about all he's qualified for. 55555

Indeed. Harry never was Charles's son. It seems everyone knew this but Charlie Boy.

The Charge of the Light Brigade was part of the Crimean War which Britain, and its then allies won!
Apart from the American war of independence, name one other war since WW11, That America won. And left that country in better condition than before America bombed the sh..te out of it. The Answer is None.

What a load of propaganda rubbish. Britain can''t get over the fact that they lost the charge of the light brigade in Crimea, even though it was their own blundering that caused it. But most of all they don't forgive the murder of the Tzar and his family during the Russian revolution.
Not to mention that Russia was part of the allied forces during the second world war. Who were largely responsible for the defeat of the Nazi's. But America wants to insist it was they who won the war. Wonder why they left it to the Russians to enter Berlin for the Victory!

Most of you are as senile as Biden with this constant bickering over which candidate is doing better or will win the election. It's so boring already.

Really pathetic bringing up something that happened ver 50 years ago when Trump wasn't even thinking of running for president.

Vs "Bone Spurs" draft-deferment Trump? The Rs had a chance for a good candidate - solid on every conservative policy + a military-record - in DeSantis, but there were too many Trump "fan" fools in the R-Primary, who think this is some sort of "rah-rah my team" event - the sort who think WWF wrestling is "real." Granted, the "Orange Man Bad" types are equally clueless - just flip the "face" and "heel" roles in the WWF-Ring. American politics are a sad, sick joke, now.
I'm not aware of Trump claiming something he didn't do. Where as Walz obviously lied.

On 8/12/2024 at 1:46 AM, it is what it is said:the only poll that matters in the one on election day. however, i do feel, on balance, it's Kamala's to lose
She lost it already. With a VP candidate who's accused of stolen valour. How is she going to win. Unless the American voters have totally lost their minds, which isn't past the realms of reality, unfortunately!

No trouble if the family give him the funds back in cash though. 😊
What part of returning funds meant as a gift voiding any tax free status do you not understand. Are you people so dumb to think you can con the RD and they will somehow miss it. You wouldn't dare to con HMRC or the IRS or Euro equivalent tax authority, So why do you think you can con the RD. a Hefty fine and prison time awaits and then you get kicked out of Thailand.

He seams to be more like a troll leaving snide comments than having anything of value to add to any topic. Quite pathetic really.

You dreamer you!
Hamas fighters are more a guerrilla group than an army, so don't need orders from above in the same way as a normal army does. Hamas is highly likely to know that the leaders are likely to die, so the fighters will be autonomous to some extent. After all, their only mission is to kill israelis, wherever and whenever they can .
Apparently Hamas has more volunteers than they know what to do with, which is understandable when the Gazans have seen whole families exterminated by the bombing, and they will want revenge on the israelis. Small boys will be dreaming of the day they too can kill israelis. This conflict isn't going to end with a ceasefire, unless they get their own land back for their own state, IMO.
In 2005 Israel vacated Gaza to the gazans. Since then they destroyed what infrastructure Israel left behind. They then set about killing off any opposition including kicking out the PA government. Then they suppressed the local population. Used funds meant to help the local population to build rockets and tunnels etc.
They are not interested in a homeland, they are the islamic brotherhood. they want death and destruction, they hide behind the local population when they fire their rockets into Israel. They want innocent deaths for their propaganda machine. Their aim is total destruction of Israel, From the river to the sea.
You could be right about it being a guerrilla force. Israel will decimate Gaza so the only place they can live is in the tunnels they hide in. If people deserve the government they have then the Gazans truly deserve Hamas and can suffer the consequences of their folly. Or they can turn against Hamas and find freedom, up to them. They already voice hate towards Hamas, but it will take time.
I think Hamas see the writing on the wall, that is why they are keen for a cease fire. Before they lose control of Gaza.

The Gift Tax rate for the non-related receivers is 10% while it is 5% for descendants or ascendants. For those who are eligible to pay 10% gift tax are offered an opportunity to pay 5% gift tax rate. This is under certain circumstances only. The above said, I think I have come up with what I believe to be a brainstorm idea for those with in-laws over 65 who don't have an income, plus my wife not having an income.
Actually the wife came up with the in-laws idea, so credit to her.
I gift 190,000 to my father-in-law & another 190,000 to my mother-in-law as they are allowed a 190,000 deductible, (accounts to be open with no ATM cards, so no annual fee for each account.
These will be new accounts which my wife of 2 decades will hold, I will then transfer 150,000 baht to my wife's account, i.e. also a gift and is under the threshold amount of 150,000.
The total gifted comes to 530,000 and I have 460,000 worth of deductibles, i.e. 990,000 in total, as I am over 65 years of age and can claim 150,000 for age, then 60,000 as a self personal allowance, plus 60,000 to wife as a personal allowance, so 990,000, that's as close to the mil as one can get which suites me, and is legal.
What this means is, I pay zero tax, oh and yes, as soon as the money hits the in-laws accounts, my wife can make an internet transfer from the bank (newly set up from the in-laws accounts) to her account, and we can make withdrawals when we fill it necessary via my wife's account.
I will keep the 400,000 baht required in my account for the annual marriage extension which has been in my account prior to 2024.
More than one way to claw back to what I perceive as a stupid law as we already contribute to Thailand's economy.
If anyone foresees a problem with how I'm thinking, please feel free to burst my bubble.
If the RD decide to do an audit of your return, and see what you suggest above. You will be fined for fraud. Any funds distributed to family close or extended, has to been seen in their bank accounts as proof such funds were gifted. The minute those funds are syphoned back to you are the wife, they are no longer a gift.
Your Brainstorm is going to get you in trouble big time.

6 minutes ago, placeholder said:Sure. After all, how could a guerilla movement thrive given that Israel doesn't want to occupy Gaza. Clearly, with no stable authority installed, Hamas is just going to disappear. Because that's happened never before in these kind of wars but the 100th time is the charm.
You need to switch on that brain if you have one! Hamas will be easy to destroy when leaderless. not to mention ordinary Gazans will probably turn on Hamas for all the suffering they have caused. Also Isreal do have plans to create a stable rule in Gaza. So you are wrong.

I know, it's disgusting that Hamas would kill hostages just because Israeli troops were getting close. Hamas then have the audacity to blame Israel for their actions.
