Hi,i'm 73 (and look it) and live in Jomtienski.I walk twice a day, usually on beach rd and on every occasion it seems i have to give way to the people coming the other way. This would not bother me if i got a "thanks" or a smile but it never happens. This morning i jumped off the pavement for a young lady wheeling her suitcase.NOTHING.
Not had much dealings with Russians but on two occasions, both times asking for directions with Russian lady scooter drivers (Vietnam and Sri Lanka) they both said "hop on" and took me to my destinations. Both destinations took some finding but the girls refused to give up until they got me there and both refused payment and left with a big smile.
My point is,i know they can be very kind but why the blank stares and lack of acknowledge for the person being polite?
Is it just a cultural thing?
