  1. The DDR3/2400 memory is supported, the motherboard supports up to DDR3/3200 memory in OC mode. What brings me back to my original question, with modern Z97 BIOS systems some overclocking abilities are not available if you have a processor that is not overclockable.

So if somebody has a motherboard with Intel Z97 chipset and a regular processor can you still use the Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profiles) in your BIOS setup?

  2. Here in Bangkok in Panthip the prices for 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3/1600 G.Skill Trident X is 5590 THB, and for the 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3/2400 G.Skill Trident X I pay 5890 THB..... What sis only a price difference of 300 THB

Intel i5-4690 cost 7490 THB, which is 3610 THB more... for my application I only need single core performance, the Intel i3-4160 is probably the best single-core performance to price and performance... if I can pump the performance just a bit more with faster memory it would be helpful...

  3. I wanted to buy a Gigabyte Z97-HD3 mainboard and an Intel i3-4160 processor. The question is if I buy DDR3 / 2400 (2x 8GB) memory can I setup XMP memory profile to make use of this faster memory… Some people tell me if I have an Intel processor which cannot be overclocked I have in the BIOS no access to the overclocking capabilities of the mainboard. The sales guy at the Panthip shop was not helpful at all…. So therefore I ask it here….

  4. Not against it per se, but at current exchange rate of 115.5k baht, why not just go up to the CB300 and deck that out for a touring bike?

The Zongshen rx3 has 18 hp (less than the CBR 150!) and has to move 385 lbs (175 kg). The 300F has a dyno'd 26.2HP and only weighs 348 lbs (158 kg) full of fluids. Would think the boring Honda reliability as well as the nationwide dealership support would win even though you have to pay ~500 USD (15K THB) more as well as adding on all the rest of the bits and bobs.

According to all information I can find about the Zongshen RX3 is that it has 24 horsepower or 18.5kW power, so I guess you made the classic mistake to see kW for HP.

  5. Funny market Thailand. Very few bike options compared to say Indonesia or Vietnam. I think its the herd mentality/fashion mentality here. I mean people don't choose what they really want; they just follow a fashion. I would love to buy the Yamaha vixion (Indonesia) here; I don't want a cbr. There is just so little choice. Sigh.

After reading the article in the Bangkok Post this morning about the success of the CBR150 and CBR250, I have to wonder (as I have for a long time) if the industry here is just too conservative in making offerings "outside the box" from the typical Thai motorbike? The article seems to prove that somebody likes those bigger bikes with 150 and 250cc engines. Another reason to suspect the industry is reluctant is that I never heard of any lobbying to get engine size limits raised. When it happened, there seemed to be practically no reaction by the industry. Makes me think they enjoy their nice small controlled market place with limited production variations due to limited offerings.

I'd love to see some scooter offerings here such as the Yamaha Majesty 250 and competitors, that offer a bigger bike (and comfort) with practical storage capacity. As for those CBR's, I just can't imagine that slumped-over riding posture would be comfortable riding any distance at all.

Honda tries to keep up with demand

Bit old news Motorcycle Thailand reported the same 28 May http://www.motorcycle.in.th/article.php/Honda-Motorcycle-Shortage-in-Thailand

  6. It looks like i get mine on the 18th of May...............

Tony, when are we going to hit Bira ??:)

Sweet! I will try and come along for a stikcy beak!

Mr.Poko; as long as you don't mention the word Sachs, it is a Tiger product now but it is exactly the same bike but just has a Tiger sticker instead of a Sachs sticker. As far as i know the online order system with the TigerSachsClub goes direct to the factory. Mbox is not importing the X-Road, he only smooths the way for people ordering. I suggest you (or your assistant) PM mbox here on TV or TSC and maybe he can get the right person for you to talk too.

BTW, the factory Tiger website as Thaicbr said is being revamped, a lot of the info is from the old website and still out of date which explains why they only have 'Future Product' for the X-Road

The Tiger X-road page, on the Tiger website, was last updated on 27 April 2011 http://www.tigermotor.co.th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=87:x-road-250-&catid=36:motorcycle&Itemid=164 , still it says “Future Model”. Also at the bottom of that page it says http://www.madass.in.th (A website which Google has qualified as a an “ attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.”

“Attack pages try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.”

  7. I have a few more questions, my assistant spoke to somebody from Tiger Motor, and they claim that they don't sell or make the X-road 250 (confusing – not completely – yet), but the Tiger Sachs Club is importing them and selling them so I need to contact them.

Now the questions, on the tigersachsclub and on this forum I read that Tiger Motor is doing the warranty, is this true? Who is the importer and who is making the dam_n things? Also the Tiger motor person said that I would have no problem registering the bike, because they are identical to the Sachs X-Road 250 who is already approved for Thailand. But is it not so that even if a product is the same but from other manufacturers and other model numbers it needs to be tested again?
