  1. "The lift was cordoned off with yellow boards to prevent others from entering the scene until police could investigate the cause of the incident." This reads like the lift wasn't cordoned off during the lift repair activity, a violation against Murphy's Law.
  2. Hey, don't let me laugh please. You are not going to solve this with a few hundred inflated plastic ducks in front of the Parliament house. Unfortunately I have to agree with lordgrinz, I have never seen any signs of a revolte in the way this was successful in other countries, like Romania, East-Germany, would also like to see what happens in Venezuela and compare this to Thailand.
  3. Hey, what a coincidence. Yesterday I read "The WPK of North Korea argued that reforms pose a threat to the democratic form of government with Kim Jong Un as head of state."
  4. Yes, it starts with government decisions. These kind of signs are not something for a local village head to solve, it belongs on the agenda of government, but what will they do ? They embarked on a large scale transportation projects with the Chinese, and these are the consequences.
  5. Guys, this is not about every Dutch involved in drugs, nobody is saying. Frankly, the punishments in Netherlands when being catched, are low, extremely low. I would rather see something like 5, 10 years, or life imprisonment or in some cases even the death penalty because the drugs attract all kind of criminality, and most of all it's unfair, these types drive expensive cars of 10 million Baht plus, live in villas, other people pay tax and survive on the border side of life.
  6. Yes, the same as so-called 'influencers', they are also fortune tellers with zero contribution to the society, only into their own pockets. Remedy: cut off everything, not only physically on the streets, even more online. Remove all these types from social media. If people need something, they will find it in (web) shops, official sales platforms, markets.
  7. I hope it will work, is however very sensitive to brown envelopes. So for me more of a test to see if corruption-proof.
  8. The problem is that people don't understand that bad economics is borne 5 - 10 years ago. It's like a ticking bomb, a small leak in a huge water container, same as in companies, poor management at the top can go unnoticed for many years, gradually things get worse, and that's because many layers in between are not affected by the poor management, there is still enough money in the beginning, and before things really go wrong then it is too late, captain and compagnons left the boat in the mean time, and even gets the merits of the old days.
  9. OK, Musk makes a statement about an election fraud, lack of transparancy in Venezuela, nothing wrong with such a statement, but how does this match with his support of Trump ? Does he really believe the 2020 elections in his own country were rigged ?
  10. Yes, this might be true, but this stories are about changes, and these changes are unbelievable, I can confirm. Thailand of the 80-ties was much different than today. The government indeed opened the floodgates, all these creepy types enter the country, fortune seekers, non-valeurs, starting all kind of businesses can not bear daylight. They have nothing to lose, in their own country everything worse, many of them excel in cyber crime, Thailand perfect country to find victims. Thai government proud of higher tourist influx numbers, what about their plan to attract high-end tourist ? The open floodgates cause the opposite to happen. The problem is not only in Thailand btw, also in Europe the same, crime, housing crises, governments in UK and Italy to dump these types in Africa or Montenegro, evidence of a panick level problem, everywhere. Solution, unfortunately is lots of paperwork, screening, proof of income before getting any visa. Close the borders, make it nearly impossible to enter the country if not self-reliant.
  11. Just look what a complicated smuggling route and process these criminals have to follow before the cars are finally on the roads in Thailand. The problem is somewhere else. It all has to do with the complete insane car import ban on 2nd hand cars pushed through by Prayut in 2013 and up to 320% tax on cars, still in place for vehicles exempted from the ban. Just think about it ... 320% ! Which enormous efforts and amount people can still spend to get that car into Thailand by other means before hitting the tax levels. This kind of ban and tax levels is a magnet and invitation to bypass the absurd rules, not only for criminals. Thailand has to follow common sense, and the rest of the world: Lift that ban and introduce normal tax levels, allow people to import their car after doing a proper paperwork, and checks. The current law is an engine of fraudulent behaviour as we see in this article, and many more cases still to come.
  12. What about the disastrous car parking facilities at Don Mueang ? Did AirAsia take this in to consideration ? The # of places is far too short, people have to drive with cm clearances, manoeuvre back and forth, all levels full, back to the next builfing, same situation, finally park in the middle lane in front of the official parking lots, risk of car damage, risk of missing the flight. This was the main reason I have never booked flights from Don Meuang, better longer trip to Suvarnabhumi, not ideal either but slightly better. Did AirAsia X take this into the economic calculations ?
  13. We talk about this particular case of Thaksin, but I feel sad that nobody is talking about the underlying issue itself. Not only Thaksin, also Pita is dealing with the same issue. Why everybody is dodging the real question ? I mean, for example there are countries where journalist are not allowed to report freely, their findings are subjected to severe sensor ship. Now suppose one politician questions the justification of these limits on freedom of speech. Should we then discuss his breaching of the rule because he made a public statement or should we question the justification of the rule itself ?
  14. Sorry to say, I am not a Buddhist but for me the same applies, they could exterminate all these snake creatures from our planet.
  15. What is an influencer ? Is this somebody to mislead people for the sake of his own wallet ?
  16. Sorry to say, see no reason why we should put so much effort into an animal which creates so much fear all around the country, sometimes being discovered in populated areas, houses, storage and bathrooms, gardens, inside car wheel arches. Would we miss something when these creatures are forever gone from our planet ? My sincere apologies to nature fanatics, but this is the way I think about it. Maybe some say same applies to humans :)
  17. So far Miss or Mrs Mod is outside the discussion of inappropriate behaviour, because if the Russian man made these attempts, was there no clue his prey was already occupied ? The story doesn't really tell, did she make it unequivocally clear any advances were unwelcome, (or was it more the opposite) ? Don't just assume Mr Williams and his wife have verbally made it clear the offences by the Russian man were unwelcome, I even wonder the Russian man knew about her being married. The story doesn't make clear what happened prior to the punch, and I am just curious to know the conscience of Mrs Mod.
  18. Stop all visa free entries. Stop it now, before it is too late. Even with the visas received from the embassies in homeland, the scrunity is not waterproof, it is well known those countries whose citizens Mr Shretta granted free access, are the worst of all, with a proven reputation all around the world, they will go in crime at large numbers. The main culprits are the real estate developers, they are greedy to take the quick money, but they don't care about the future of the country.
  19. Yes, the same kind of people like influencers
  20. They are volunteers, so no money involved. Why are they fighting then ? Can somebody explain ?
  21. " In the era of social media, the NESDC pointed to the rising impact of influencers boosting consumption. They often lure people to spend on meals, cars, and vacations, encouraging their followers to consume products and services beyond their means." Yes, good point. It is time to ban these influencers, commercially driven, greedy people, thinking they have a celeb status, above the law, whereas they are just nothing, 'non-valeur' to society. They belong in the same category as loan sharks. It is only the folks fault and own mistake to look and listen to them, more of a weakness, like an addiction. We should always ask ourselves: why are they talking so nicely ? and this is only for their own benefit, satisfying their greed.
  22. That's going to be interesting, Thai police against all the worst species they have first invited, thanks to Mr Shretta's free visa policies with countries no other wants to deal with. It's too late, the disease already spread, businesses taken over, underground is already upperground.
  23. Yes, bad times for Swiss nationals in Thailand, people remind the other case of a Swiss killing and dumping his wife in the fields. Unfortunately, these incidents will damage the reputation of farang. Looking at Phuket and the colonization by Russians, these incidents will only be the be beginning, in 5-10 years this will become a place the 'better tourist', the Thai government is looking for, will never visit again. Short sighted government and greedy real estate developers can be blamed.
  24. Well, alone on the street at 0:45am in another country is still something I would be worried my daughter to do
  25. So, they should surrender and let following generations live under Russian rule, right ?
