I tried the rial and it seemed to work ok.
Unfortunately there seems to be no viable way to pay for the service.

Current consumption (bought in 6 packs):
2bottles/day = 14bottles/wk = 119 bht/wk = 476 bht/month
Refill cost:
300 bht/2.5 month (assumption)
Sounds like initial investment would be paid off quickly and a good idea. Thank you!
That big gas bottle will last months and months. A lot more than 2.5.
Don't forget you have to buy the Soda Stream and large gas bottle. 5 or 6 thousand.

A bit of an expense to start with but saves a packet in the long run.
The gas bottle and adapter were bought on Lazada.

Works good but you have to return the empty gas bottles to head office in Bangkok.
Works out expensive.
I have one of those but bought a large CO2 bottle and an adapter.
Saves a lot.

The tax law was already approved decades ago. It's being applied now.
No body knows for sure about the details until next year.
Best to wait and see.

You would be better off staying where you are.

I think when I calculated since I had an early flight I was planning on arriving at the airport before midnight and alls well but not now and not with last years one day overstay. I don't mind the money it's the hassle of the extension but better that than a potential greater hassle I guess.
Good choice. Eliminate any potential problems.

You have no problem.
Just make sure that you have a Re Entry Permit if you want to leave and return during the next year.

Yep.
I always deposit 1,000 Baht on the days of application to get the bank book up to date.

No . Your Aged pension funds remitted to Thailand will be taxed here if you are a Thai tax resident.
The first 150,000 thb (190,000 if you aged 65+) is tax exempt.
Then 150,000 (+65 year 110,000)@ 5%
Then 200,000@ 10%
Then 200,000@15%
Then @20%.
There could well be challenges to this arrangement, because a lot of Hiso will be out of pocket big time,as well as activists and academics pointing to individuals financial plans having been shredded, etc.
