Thai government prefers the wealthy over the Cheap Charlies. The $80k requirement for the WP LTR is about $6,700 per month passive income. They believe someone living on $6700 per month will spend more in Thailand than someone living on 65k ($1800) baht per month. Some of the Cheap Charlies claim they live on $1000 per month.

Immigration says “fast-track service at Bangkok airports” are fakes
DavidH51 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When we arrive at BKK after after flying business class, they allow us to use a special immigration line but I don't know if it called fast track. Also my wife and I are in our 70's and I think we would go to the special line if we flew economy. -
Long Term Residence Wealthy Pensioner if you are curious. It is a 10 year visa - requires USD$ 80,000/year of passive retirement income and mandatory health insurance. And no 90 day reporting requirement.

Probably they drove too fast at night - headlights didn't illuminate far enough ahead for them to see the safety cones etc in time. -

Thailand to tackle declining birth rate as national issue
DavidH51 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
At 72 years old and married for 50 years to a Chinese lady, I am still interested in women overall. I find them interesting and appreciate their bodies but also their different ways of thinking. If my wife passed away before me, I would like to marry again. I do wish we would had more than 2 children. I don't understand a generation who doesn't value marriage and children. In my opinion, their moral compass is broken. -
There are Singapore Airline flights from several western USA cities and Newark that are nonstop to Singapore. Also if you live near a Delta Hub - you can get a onestop on Delta or Korean Air to BKK via ICN. I have flown the Delta/Korean Air flights several times. But I think I would prefer Singapore Air because the final flight is so short.

typical retiree (foreign home) situation
DavidH51 replied to jaxon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When I move to Thailand, I will sell my home in Florida. And get rid of all but a few possessions. But I am 72 so my choices may not work for a younger person. Also the Phillipines is a good backup plan. -
Education and O visa questions
DavidH51 replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
1. Thai Elite Visa - 5 years for 600,000 baht each - apply before September 15 because prices expected to go up. 2. LTR visa Wealthy Global Citizen - hold USD $ 1,000,000 in assets and invest USD$ 500,000 in Thai bonds, Foreign direct investment, or Thai property. I believe if you are married only one of you has to get this visa. Spouse and children can be added on. 3. One parent can get a visa based on the child being in school, I think. 4. Apply to qualified education program and get ED visa. Since ED visas have been abused, the Elite Visa program may never accept you. You must go to classes. -
Multiple Entry Tourist Visa
DavidH51 replied to Highlander61's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For a multiple entry tourist visa you must show them a flight out of Thailand and back in some time later. Otherwise you will receive a single entry 60 day visa at METV price.
