Looters should be shot on sight. The black youth need to call Obama on his lack of job production and the African American male needs to wake up to the fact that the only jive ass Nigeria with jobs are in paid entertainment. The entitlement state is failing.
-
I'm sure they will find a way to make the meters move faster and I won't be surprised if the juiced up fare is higher than the non meter fare.

As the saying goes; we don't pay for them to stay we pay them to leave.

And the good news in Thailand a landlord can do just about anything they please to evict a deadbeat tenant such as turn off water turn off electricity remove front door etc..., -
Amazing how many post support the dead beat behavior of the renter. Is this what the expat community has become? A bunch of spineless deadbeats feeling entitled with no concept of the meaning of honor or self respect.

Typically a rental agreement covers all these issues such as late payment fees. Notice of cancellation security deposits utilities etc... My question; did you get the 5th month rent?

Years ago I always carried a photo copy after six months of never being asked for it I stopped to this day (more than a decade later) I still have not been asked to show my ID

I know a psycho therapist that works at an international hospital. I asked her what was the most common cause of her patients needing help. She did not hesitate in answering. "Their failure to accept change."

From what I have seen the PADI dive school use the promise of employment as a way to draw more funds from their students and sell them on becoming dive masters. There is rarely a promise of getting a work permit so the students stay longer to get the required dives in work on the cheap, drink their beers in the divers round circle debating deep dive and best coral dive sights then eventually leave and the cycle starts again.

IMO land is not all the same even if it is 1600 square meters. Chanote title with Water, electric, government roads, sea views, and location near beaches, golf and shopping results in a rai of land worth 4 to 6 times more than a
Plot of land in the middle of a pineapple grove with no infrastructure or chanote land title. -
Resorts were not allowed to offer free shuttle service to their guest because of threats from the taxi thugs. Meter taxi is a simple solution to eliminate fare bandits. Limited number of taxies allowed in a limited space leaves street parking for self drives.

By vertue of size Phucket has running cost that the smaller Samui island does not. By its close location to the mainland and Bangkok Phucket offers savings the Samui does not match. Food, entertainment are on par price wise.

What's really bad is when a 12 year old smokes at the dinner table in front of her baby. :/

I can sympathize with the OP, chances are his GF is also a major part of his social network, guide, translator, and lover. His heart wants to believe her and his gut tells him she is not being honest. This is a cross roads for most travelers that can determine our success as an expat. Do we learn to trust our BS meter or override it and see what happens. I over rode mine and I got bitten the good news is from that mistake I learned to trust my instincts from that point forward and in the process grew to know that i could trust my alarm system and my judgment.

Hmm how much does the avg Thai girl with a day job spend per day in Bkk? IMO this is more relevant than her boy friends age.
-
Other than the rate of appreciation the cost of land 10 yrs ago is not relevant today. There is not the same abundance of land in Thailand as in the swamps of Florida. If price is a factor look where land is cheap, ranting will not change the market value.

Most hotels have room service

There are some who have gone native IMO living in self delusion as they will never be native nor accepted as a Thai

It's called the family bed

IMO unless you are willing to learn that your GF may have had more of a relationship than you are aware with the car salesman leave it alone. If it is so important to the OP to be a hero give the GF 9,000 baht.

It's akin to Chinese water torture; it is not the volume of water but the nagging drip that drives one crazy.

Here in lies the problem Thailand has been good to me, the monies from Thailand allow me to live in the west without a need of a job. My day on Samui were full of sun fun and adventure and I the fact that my family is Thai all but guarantees my return in the meantime it is nice to take a break and live in a world of accountability and reliability.

I'll pipe in on this because quite frankly the OP described how I felt about Thai men, Thai govt, Thai life most of the 14 yrs I lived there. I lived in Bali for 4 yrs and never felt the contempt for Indo that I felt for LOS. I often times felt in prison by my own design ie heavily invested, beautiful wife and family yet it all came with the daily hassle that I knew as Thailand. Finally my children reached the goal age to study abroad and I was set free. I have been away for 18 mo's and quite frankly I can not make myself get on the plane to join my family for even a short return trip to Thailand. I'm worn out and really don't need the hassle when life is so easy in the west. I'm out I'm gone and I don't know if I will return. IMO there are too many choices in the world that offer good weather, good food, friendly natives and beautiful women to return to a place that frustrates me at every turn.
Removal of Beach Chairs on Hua Hin Beaches
in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
Posted
TBH the sea of umbrellas and chairs on Thai beaches has always been an eye sore to me. I am happy to be done with them.
