Hi Steve.  What did you submit to get into Thailand?  I just did the whole process as well and I am in Thailand now, but I had to submit how I was going to get into Thailand.  So I flew from Luang Prabang into CNX.  I emailed the embassy well before my appointment to see if I could submit a bus reservation to Udon from Vientiane,  but they never replied.  So, I'm just curious what you submitted in case I need to do this again sometime.  Thanks.

Hey, they didn't ask me for any proof of travelling back into Thailand. I think they just assumed from my Udon Thani hotel booking that I was crossing by land with a taxi to the border from Vientiane. They didn't ask anyone to provide flights out of Laos when I was there.

Dead at the Thai Embassy, Vientane?!

No more hundreds of people cueing?

    Wow this is news!

Yes, very, very quiet. It was a relief when I saw how few people were there. Same when I picked up. That doesn't mean every day is like that though. I heard when I was there that Monday was to be avoided. The receptionist in my hotel told me that, anuyway.

Normally, unless things have changed again, you would get the passport back with visa on Thursday. Was it your choice to wait until Friday, or was this based on instructions by the embassy?

Not anymore. Now it takes 3 days. So if you submitted on a Monday, you pick up on Wednesday. I know it used to be pick up the day after submitting but I guess that has changed.

What did you submit to the embassy to show how you planned to travel into the country (as part of their requirements shown on their website)?  Because you didn't fly into Thailand, did you just show a bus ticket conformation or something like that?

Hi SAcannon, I submitted a print out of a one-way ticket out of Thailand within the 60-day limit as well as a hotel booking in Udon Thani for 3 nights, which I subsequently cancelled. Couldn't cancel the plane ticket but it wasn't much (1250 baht). As I mentioned, I didn't get questioned about any of my history and the 3-day hotel booking seemed to be enough.

That seems to be somewhat flexible and might depend on things such as your nationality and history as a tourist in Thailand.

Chances are you'll be fine, and could be remedied quickly otherwise, by making a "pay later" or refundable booking that can later be canceled.

Please report back how it went.

Thanks Caldera. I've booked 3 nights at a hotel in Udon Thani upon my return so I can visit a friend near there. Hope that's enough. Will update the forum on what happens.

    Hi steve0101,

I printed off 3 Months statements from UK bank account - dated the day before I applied - editing out sensitive information.

No itinerary given, but I did give a signed photocopy of the i.d. and housebook of the owner of the address i stay at.

I would imagine a preliminary hotel booking on a website would suffice.

Was successful, with extensive history of stay.

    Vientiene were very friendly.

I did post about my experience:-

Incidentally, did you return via the border or by air?

Many thanks, Simon. I will ask my landlord for copies

Just a bank book will suffice. If your history as a tourist in Thailand is very limited, they might relax some of the requirements, but I strongly recommend complying. A planned itinerary and hotel bookings (which you can cancel later) are not that onerous to provide.

Hmmm, my history has been back-to-back since 7 December 2022. Already done 2 land-border crossings as well. This is my first application for a 60-day visa though, the rest were fly-ins/exempt. I also just noticed that they have changed the processing times to 3 days. I remember it always being a 2-day affair.

I will ride my Thai registered motorbike over the border and once the Visa is issued, spend a week or so in Laos then ride back over the border.

So would the import papers for the motorbike at Laos border entry be enough to prove Im going back by motorbike again?

Hoping some one has first hand experience with this.

    Thanks..

I just asked the very same question. I also want to find out if a bankbook (not printouts of bank statements) will suffice for proof adequate funds,

Hey, Tim, yep, I saw this one earlier. I cant seem to find one that clarifies the acceptable format (printed statements or hard copy of bank book), or one from someone recent being asked to present an itinerary.

  11. Hi all, I've looked around some recent chatter on this but still could do with some confirmation from any recent experiences. The requirements state that you must provide "evidence of adequate finance". Do you think a Kasikorn bankbook will suffice or does it have to be statements printed off at the bank? It also say you must provide an itinerary to and from Thailand, including hotel booking or a letter from whom you'll be staying with and a signed copy of their ID. Is this second actually enforced?

The days when an agent could get you a tourist visa that you cannot get yourself are over.

You do not state your immigration history. Under all but the most extreme circumstances, you should be able to get a single entry tourist visa in Vientiane. You need an appointment (https://thaivisavientiane.com/) and should conform, scrupulously with the requirements (https://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/en/page/tourist-visa-2?menu=63bcd875e8b39d00fd0e7513)

If you want to use an agent (in spite of the fact that they cannot do anything special) there are visa run companies in Bangkok and Udon Thani who liaise with locals in Vientiane. You are basically paying money for assistance with transport.

  13. Hello fellas, the TM30.io seemed to be ok but the fact is they didn't even ask for proof of it. I didn't get fined either, but they also didn't fine me for the visa having already expired on Sunday. I'm wondering if because the place was so packed (presumably due to the long holiday), they were just hurrying things along. Not sure. But all I paid was the 1900 for the extension. Took forever but it could have been worse had they hit me with the full force of the fines, or worse, demanded a screenshot of the TM30. Anyway, thanks for your input on this. Much appreciated.

If you have the screenshot of an online TM30 notification and take a printout of that with you, you should be good to go to get an extension of a visa exempt entry at IT Square Laksi.

It's important that the TM30 notification is for your current entry. They will send you away if you produce one that had been filed before you last entered the country visa exempt.

You've mentioned a fine, probably for late reporting? I don't think that would come up.

Hey thanks. I don't have a screenshot. Just a confirmation email sent by my landlord because it was from this site: https://tm30.io/  Not the actual immigration office site, which I was todl wasn't as fast or reliable. So, Ill I got was this message forwarded to my gmail account:

This email is to confirm that we have successfully submitted the TM30 Form for:
    (My Name)

    Sincerely,
    Team of TM30.io

  15. Hi all, anyone know if fines for late TM30 have to be paid at CW before going to IT Square to extend a 30 day visa entry? Usually I take all the paperwork up from the landlord (always late) to CW first and then pay it there. After that I go to IT Square to extend. However, this time, the landlord did it online via TM30 io site so I'm not sure whether an initial trip to CW is necessary or if I will simply pay the fine at IT Square.

I have used tm30.io a couple of times for condos may wife owns. Much easier than the immigration app as all you need is photo of the passport information page of the guest.
Only allowed to use four times a month for free.

How long did you wait for confirmation that it had been processed by the immigration office? My landlord did it yesterday (late) and sent me a screenshot confirming the registration was complete but it was awaiting some sort of confirmation.

  17. 6 hours ago, Caldera said:

The TM30 notification itself is instant, but the initial registration of the residence can take some time, depending on the immigration office and the documents supplied ti register.

Hi Caldera, thanks for your response. By some time, do you mean about 24 hours or more like a few days? I don't know if my landlord has received any sort of confirmation as of yet. He went to S'pore to watch Tottenham and isn't responding to messages right now. Not surprising. I suppose I will have to wait until Wednesday to go to the IO.

  18. Hi all, my landlord sent me this screenshot saying he had finally done the TM30 online at https://tm30.io/faq , 3 and half weeks late, mind. I'm just wondering how long these things take to be processed and whether he will receive some confirmation that I'm good to go. Very annoying that the IO will be shut from tomorrow as well as early next week. If had confirmation that the TM30 has now been processed and I can go and get a visa extension, I'd go today.

Another visa exempt via air would be a miracle.

lol, yep, I thought so. I actually thought I may even get refused flying back in with a real tourist visa because I have effectively not spent a full day out of the country since arriving. I was concerned because someone I know who flew in on a 45-day twice, and more recently flew back in with a tourist visa (all back to back) was questioned the IO at the airport (I think DM) but finally allowed in, but according to her, the IO took some convincing.
