I went for 60day exempt.

Did you notice if other people were being told to do the same?

I did not see any other farang.

I stayed on the thai side till 8pm ,then I cross to Malaysia. I went back 5am the next day (1 night) the same io! He said, you go back I say 2 nights. I then said please, please let me go back. He said ok wow he let me in. I asked if I have to stay 2 nights next time he said yes.

I did it on the 15 of Jan, to penang on flight, stayed two hours met a friend for coffee, and came back... no problems

got a non immigration stamp and extension.

Forgot to say, you have to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card. (MDAC).

Before entry

Did the same at KL in early Jan.  I think if one intends to make a Visa Exempt re entry or goes through a land border crossing then the multiple night stay might be required?  I stayed one night in KL and usual it was great.

Which IO told you had to stay 2 nights  i.e was it the Malaysian or Thai I/O - Also which immigration office did you use for the entry / exit border since there are two options 1). Train station 2). immigration near the road, where the bus to Hat Yai stops.

I did the same border run 20th Jan (10 days ago) - Entered by train stamped out of Thailand and stamped into Malaysia then walked over the bridge to the other immigration office by the road entry - When exiting Malaysian I/O pushed my passport across the desk to senior I/O and then pointed to the date, the senior officer just nodded and the other I/O stamped me out.

When I got to the Thailand immigration the I/O refused me entry and said I need to spend one night in Malaysia I asked if I could return early since I was unaware of the rules 60 days visa exempt since it was so new, she then  asked me for flight out of Thailand and then asked for accommodation booking in Thailand which I had neither a booking for accommodation nor a flight until the middle of May. She then told me to make a hotel booking in Thailand for that night. I went away made a  booking and went back with the confirmation email on my mobile phone, which she ignored and just stamped me back into Thailand immediately on my return back to her desk and told me to make sure next time to stay one night in Malaysia.

It is not clear if the requirement is one night or two and since it is down to the discretion of each individual I/O and hence it could in theory be any amount of nights.

Well that is promising somewhat.

Need to go to Wanprachan this week for border run.

I followed BillyBobsteeth , as he did .

He was allowed to go out AND back again for 2000 baht.

All in jiffy time.

And I hope that will be the same for me.

Thai IO said 2 nights.

I walked, no train.

They did not ask me for any paper they only wanted to know when I was leaving Thailand, I said 24 April and that I was getting an extension.

Next time I'm staying 2 nights 55555

Thanks for the response.

Yup I should have inferred from the "walk" mentioned, but I once tried to walk in and then get a train back to Bangkok (since they seem less particular at the train station immigration). I aim to take the train on my next (3rd) back to back VE and only stay one night in Arau, then catch the 45 Special Express train to Bangkok going through the train station immigration.

It will be interesting to see if there is any better experience doing it this way.

Yesterday (05 march) did Wan Prachan, no mdac, 2000 baht out and in again, right away. No problem at all. Yes , 2000 baht, but rather pay that then all other things. Was very pleased. Had done earlier an extension at an immigration office.

you pay 2000 b to who ?  the IO at the entry point ? or use an agent

Paid 2000 baht to Thai IO.

Got a TM6 and a ticket number. So what about the ticket number,

no clue, only Malaysian IO collected the ticket number.

For the TM 6 you need your Thai adres, so be aware you have it.

So hold on to the ticket, as amazingly saw a ticket lying on the road.

I dont care, as all run smoothly. Out and in, in jiffy time.

If there were no Russians before me, could have done it 10 minutes.

Now about 20 minutes, 555.

Weird, shown in txt on phone, there was a charge for this, as they didnt want to speak out.?

However some later, was SAID then 2000 baht to be paid right away. Not on phone. Hey, I really dont care.

Before I went , I asked some people coming back from border. They had done border run and told me no problem what so ever. And they were right.

Mind done now in March, in May comes the TDAC, they say, no clue of the impact of that one. As also said TDAC would be 300 baht and is digital.
