  1. Who knew the Swedes were prudes :-)
  2. The poor man was probably pushed to the limit by his Thai wife. I can relate
  3. because Thai women are beautiful. It is as simple as that
  4. There is nothing wrong with Pattaya being a destination centered around the sex industry. What is disturbing is the hypocrisy of Thai society. And the unbearable repression of freedom of expression. And they can censor the DW documentary if they wish. In the age of social media, there are no more secrets.
  5. Any pretext is good to trigger these savages. Who would want to frequent these places?
  6. The hypocrisy! All of it under the guise of a moral crusade against foreigners who are corrupting the country. Inconsistent and biased law enforcement again and again. In the meantime a selected few commit the most heinous crimes without punishment
  7. Extremely shoddy craftsmanship. I've encountered countless instances. One of them involved a sewage pipe leak, which resulted in a portion of my garden soil collapsing, creating a massive sinkhole. They hadn't even connected the segments. I could not believe it.
  8. Congratulations! I am trying to keep my consumption below a certain limit.
  9. The term 'loser' carries a judgmental connotation. But yes, most of them are losers.
  10. This idea is reasonable, and makes sense in this context, particularly when it comes to smaller turboprop aircraft (ATR72-600s)
  11. There comes a time when you have to stop crossing oceans for people who wouldn't jump puddles for you One of the greatest lessons I learned in Thailand. And no, I don't spend 500K baht on a matter of face with Thai people who wouldn't jump a puddle for me.
  12. In my perspective, if the bride considers this acceptable, I would personally choose to distance myself. I did not have to pay anything and I have the most wonderful Thai wife. 8 years and counting. Life is good. And 500k for the wedding? You could fly 5 times to Venice for a romantic holiday with your wife. But I guess "face" is more important....
  13. Interesting post. Good questions raised
  14. Exactly. Works as designed. Another proof that malevolence is part of the fabric of this society
  15. Conscription is total nonsense and should be abolished
  16. This budget would have been better utilized where it is most needed. For example, improving the condition of public hospitals or assisting the elderly. Retrospectively, one can wonder what the return on investment of the Chakri Naruebet aircraft carrier has been
  17. We will see. But many times in the past Thailand has shown a lack of principles and morals, constantly testing the waters to exploit any available advantages.
  18. ABB is better
  19. Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt
  20. This is a good question. Ultimately, if the relationship is good, should you be in that place of worry or apprehension? It has to feel good. Trust your gut feeling.
  21. Unless you have driven more than 400k km in Thailand and seen what I saw, and gone through hundreds of near-misses, then I don't need your advice
  22. I have been driving in Thailand for over 30 years. Road safety is one of the country's biggest issues in my opinion. I'm not defending the person in the article, and I don't know the whole story. But driving here every day, you accumulate so much frustration and even anger because they drive so poorly. He probably snapped.
  23. "Thailand to urge Germany"? Starting off on the wrong foot
