interesting article from January 2020 on how much easier cancer detection may become.

You also might want to try Yeow Ngern - the bottle has an eagle's head on the label. It is a fairly good Bicardi copy. 125 Baht in Big C or Tesco Lotus. 110 Baht in a Thai off-license.
12 years later 145 baht tesco/Makro......not a bad price increase for 12 years......I find this smoother than name brand white spirits

Does anyone know if CM Imm still opening for business at around 6:30AM (was this time last year) or has it reverted back to the 8AM start?

G'day folks,
I am curious to know if those of us who are on visa extensions are included when population statistics are released.
I have been visiting this wondrous land for just shy of 40 years and have lived here non stop now for the last 14 years on non imm O visa extension.I imagine there is many similar across the kingdom, maybe in excess of a million, but yet not classified as permanent residents even though we are probably the very definition of permanent.

all asian toilets have floor drains so it don't matter much where the excreta lands as ye can just pick up the bum gun and rinse it all away...handy to have as in my old age I get a bit of incontinence from time to time...just gotta get yer pants off first or there's a mess...
'10 reasons why I prefer Thailand to my home western country'...'ewww, that sounds horrible' 'get outta here, feces phobia is a western pathology...'
The bum gun makes absolute sense, when travelling back in the western world I now feel deprived of what I feel should be a basic human right!!!!

We have 4 bathrooms in our house. We added two of them, and re-furbished the original two which were, frankly, quite disgusting. We re-tiled walls and floors so the toilets got broken out in two of them.
What I found when using them before we re-did them was that the two pans were shaped so that the front was very shallow and the wedding tackle rested on the porcelain. So that dictated our choice of new pan shape.
So now we got 4 suites where the shape of the pan is such that the wedding tackle does not touch it, coincidently the water line in the bowl is larger in two of the pans so that excreted material drops into the water. That pleases me because one is our bedroom en suite and one the common use downstairs bathroom. The other two are still only possessing a small water area as the OP complains but only Thais use them anyway for the most part and I never use either.
nice reply sir....I particularly like the Geoffrey Rush immortalized use of the term "wedding tackle"

in the mid 80's I was absolutely smashed in Soi Cowboy at 4 AM....I was so smashed that I didn't even know I had been there.........I spent a couple of days visiting the places I remembered I had been and asking about my wallet.........anyhow 2 days later when I wandered into into a bar in soi cowboy, I was greeted with "Sir, Sir, you left your wallet on the bar".......everything including the cash was still there....the cash was somewhat down but I had been partying so I figure it was all good so I emptied both my old and new wallets in that bar that night! I was in bangkok for another week or so and that bar was where I spent most my drinking time (although I did quite ever do a bender like the first one), felt they deserved it.
To cut a long story short, I was a young 22 year old who had already had a great affection for Thailand.....this absolutely nailed it. I knew I loved Thailand. "Long live the King" I said, and I was, and am, so grateful that he did. -

Why are the majority of Thai toilets designed so that the drop zone is the back of the bowl instead of correctly deep six-ing human projectiles?
Thank god for the bum gun being handy! -

Just to clarify Medical certificate for renewals ( as across different post's some say required and others say not required.
Did my 5 year renewal today. Not required 100%.So a big thumbs up for me for not going and getting one like I did the last two 5 yr renewals ????
There's even a big requirements board (top of stairs, immediate left) that states, YES you need it for initial ONE year licence and NOT on list of requirements for FIVE year licence and subsequent renewals.
Residence Cert Original (or work permit or Yellow book & copies)
Passport
Drivers and/or Riders Licences
Copy of passport Facepage
Copy of Visa or visa extension page
Copy of last entry stamp
Copy of TM6 Departure Card
Extra copies id both drivers & riders licences and residence cert
Procedure:
Have all the above ready to roll or do the copies there (far end of 2nd floor)
Go to info desk, they'll check you have evertything and give you form/s (only have to sign and add tel no)
Go to Desk 27 to submit paperwork and they will give you queue no ( I went in the morning and was given a number but told to come back at 1.
Next step they call out a group ( by queue no eg.1 to 75) to go behind Desk 27 and do a colour vision test and a brake response test.
You will then collect your paperwork and head to a nominated room.
Most likely it will be to room 3 for Road safety/rules/etiquette videos in English ( the last 3 times I did them in room 2 in Thai, just as boring but a few road rules I never picked up when watching the thai version)
After the video you head back to desk 27 and have a new number which is the cashiers number....after your number has been called and you pay head back to the opening beside desk 27 and use the same number for the new queue which is the photo and the licence printing. And then your set!!!!
Fees ( I think car the same and motorbike went up, but not sure):
Application Form 5 Baht per licence
Private Drivers 500 Baht
Private Riders 250 Baht
Total for both licences 760 Baht
Notes.
My licence expired last week and I got the next 5 birthdays method, so effectively a 6 year expiring in 2568 (2025)
For whatever reason this was the first time I never had to do the regular eye test (ABC, gor gai kor kai, numbers etc).....not that I was worried, my long vision is perfect but arms aren't long enough to read without glasses nowadays ????
Hope this is of use to someone.
Don't go the day after a public holiday....it was still quite breezy but took a tad longer than my other times

For the info of anyone whose visa may be coming due to expire, or may be awaiting approval.
Couldn't apply for residence cert as yearly extension does not have enough days, I recently did yearly extension (family) and am in that "awaiting approval" one month period. Come back after new stamp.
How many days left on Visa to be able to apply for residence cert? Was told 20 days ....I was under that amount of days, so fair enough I suppose?
And this was using the expedited (฿1,000-) route, so I imagine you may be wanting 50 Days valid visa if going the obtuse free route....of course, this is only a guess though.
So, even though it was a wasted trip into immigration that didn't achieve a thing, it did feel great getting out of there after only a few minutes!!!!!!!

A friend of mine lives in Chiang Mai Land. He told me people were going house to house yesterday offering 500 Bhat to vote for their candidate (I won't mention which one!). He's disgusted by Thai corruption as I think many are.
the actual voting process is by secret ballot behind a closed screen. The voter will go to designated poll, have their name ticked off and receive their ballot paper. They then go behind a closed screen to tick their ballot paper and slip it into the box. The voters name is not recorded on the ballot paper.
You are free to vote for who like.
So even if you are offered a bribe (sometimes several bribes by several different parties) they still don't have any guarantee that you will vote for them -

can understand if it takes a few days (less than one week) but to take one month is ridiculous. It's just a certificate template that fills up your name ,passport, address that can be done in 5-10 minutes including vetting
exactly, and when i did my license in 2006 and the next one in 2012 (i think), that's how long it took to get a certificate....about 5 or 10 minutes and free

I know old subject, but it always keeps on changing. I need to renew my motorcycle license in the next couple of months, and part of that is having the residence paper from immigration. I know it has been hard - easy medium - hard - easy where it left off at Promenada, but where does it stand today at CM immigration airport?
Hi Holy Cow,
Don't forget that the certificate of residence from immigration is only good for 30 days. As you said you are going to renew license in the next couple of months, don't get it too early (esp if you pay ฿1000-) or it may expire before you use it!!!! -
LOI KROH Clinic about halfway down Loi Kroh opposite Wat Loi Kroh....100 baht from memory

Not sure why a typical sleeper would be that long???? But if it was that would be perfect, I wouldn't need to buy two

Probably easier and cheaper to have a pair of ramps welded up to your spec.
thx for the input but actually railway sleeper ramps are the easiest to make if you have a decent cutting device (chainsaw for me). But cheaper I don't yet know...thus this post. Also the steel ramps can slide on my tiled garage floor and if one slides and the other doesn't, it can cause fender damage (small cars, not such a problem with pick ups etc)
Where To Buy Top Box And Front Basket For Honda Click In Cm?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
I know this is an old topic, but I just bought an "old" one of these!!!! Not a bad deal for ฿8,900 imo ????
I was also wondering if a basket could be fitted to the front.......it's a shame that they can't, because the lights would be below the basket and thus filling it wouldn't block out being seen by oncoming traffic!!!!!
