1. You're not just talking about the road widening right? That whole road is turning into a proper 4 or 6 lane divided road. Finally.

    And it's MIddle RIng! :)

The road widening is on the HWY 1317 which is the road that connects to the airport road.

and I'm pretty sure thats it is inner ring road.....WONGWIAN NAI and WONGWIAN NORK... inner and outer, but if you include the super highway then yes, it could be called the middle ring road!!!

  2. invest a massive 2.8 million baht in Thailand's first resort mall in Chiang Mai province.

?? so little and their web site is crying out for investors......

typo I think .. go further down in the article .... Billion

I think you may find that the "Investors" they want are for all the retail spaces. Obviously they would like to have the majority of spaces filled by the time they open.

  3. Does anyone know what the new development is on the sankumpaeng rd (HWY 1006) . The location is just after the inner ring road (HWY 3029)if heading from CM to Sankampaeng.......and I'm not taling about the new Promenada Mall wih is on the new Sankampaeng/Hot Springs rd (HWY 1317).

A Thai fella had told me that its gonna be a new Tesco's, but I could neither confirm or deny this by looking at the tesco website.

    Just curious,

    Cheers,

    The blooded one

  4. "April 17 is expected to be the hottest day of the year, as the sun will be directly overhead."

Do I misunderstand, I always thought in the northern hemisphere the sun reaches its highest point at July 21?

    Yes, you misunderstand.

Four yerly events occur at roughly 3 month intervals

    for 2011:

    Equinox 20 March

Summer Solstice 21 June (this is also the winter solstice for the soutern hemispere)

    Equinox 23 Sept

Winter Solstice 22 Dec (this is also the summer solstice for the soutern hemispere)

An Equinox is when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator.......also it is the time that the sun will be the highest in the sky at the equator...in fact being directly overhead.

At the poles, the day in which the sun will be the highest in the sky, is the summer solstice for the respective pole.

At the equator it is twice yearly at the Equinox.

All other geographical points of lattitude between the poles and the equator will occur twice yearly, firstly at some date between the equinox and the coming summer solstice and secondly at some date after the summer soltice and prior to the equinox.

For Thailand the Highest the sun will reach in the sky will be on April 17th (although this is not totally correct as there will be roughly 3 weeks difference between Yala and Chiang Rai).

There is also the "Equilux" which occurs once on the equator and twice at every other lattitude....it is where both the day and night are of approximately equal legnths (12 hours give or take a few seconds)

  5. It make me wonder too and why not have a fair election not some back room deals by the military? It would have prevented all the problems the last few years.

Someone is running very scared and it is not Thaksin. I personal do not care to me they are all the same.

They've had plenty of fair elections over the past decade, unfortunately the current leaders didn't like the outcome of any of them

  6. What is there to scratch Thailand back? US is doing a favor for Thailand as it is obvious Thailand had been foolish to welcome criminals and continue to protect these individuals under the watchful eyes of the corrupted rank in file to high ranking officials The easiest alibi is to extradite them without being blamed & cost that is via upon demand. LOL! Would the Government need more external threats when they can't even solve their own crisis? With another bigger threat on the run....they ain't going to pressure for his extradition.

They did is in WW11 when they played host in letting the Japs bicycle in and conquer SEA. That is as good as it gets!
As you brought WW2 into it, it is interesting to note that the party of the current leaders of Thailand, the Democrat Party was founded back in 1946 to oppose the former "SERI THAI" underground resistance members who had formed the then Siamese government. One could say that the democrat party was formed by those without backbone to oppose those who had actively opposed the Japanese occupation of Siam.

That said and done, everything evolves and I'm sure the democrats have as well. Whilst I am a supporter of free and democratic elections I am also a supporter of political stability (if any such thing can exist here)......so lets get that coin high up into the air and see which side it comes down on

  7. Stupidity rules. the Swedish evening newspaper is a funny one and that when the Swedes are covering up the threat of deadly cars in their streets. Ever wondered what will happen when you are hit by one of them...... It is a big big threat.I assume that there are riskier things in life than being killed by jellyfish. The chance of being killed in a Bangkok street by the army is really much bigger. Ans yes Jellyfish kill sometimes, just like elephants.

How dare you say that VOLVO's are deadly

  8. This is how it may well play out:

The police will arrive almost instantaneously.....

    WHY??????????

Because the poor bugger will be misinterpreted and the 7-11 will phone the police and inform them that some crazy looking farang has just threatened to rob the store and will bash them if they don't comply......he tried to tell them he was mugged and robbed!!!!!!

After another few hundred thousand or even million baht, the farang will now be free to return home.

  9. How hot is it in hel_l?

A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduate students. It had one question: Is hel_l exothermic (gives off heat) or orendothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof.

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gascools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of hel_l is changing in time.

So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into hel_l and the rate they are leaving.

I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hel_l, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering hel_l, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hel_l.

Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to hel_l.

With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hellto increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in hel_l because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hel_l to stay the same, the volume of hel_l has to expand as souls are added.

This leads us to the prospect of two distinct and seperate possibilities.

    1. If hel_l is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hel_l, then the temperature and pressure in hel_l will increase until ALL hel_l BREAKS LOOSE.

    2. Of course, if hel_l is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hel_l, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hel_l FREEZES OVER.

    So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms.Therese Banyan during my Freshman year, "That it will be a cold night in hel_l before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then 2. cannot be true, and thus hel_l has to be exothermic.

The student got the only A.

  10. A man was called to answer tax questions at the Inland Revenue Service (IRS).

He asked his accountant for advice on what to wear.

"Wear your shabbiest clothing. Let him think you are a pauper," the accountant replied.

Then he asked his lawyer the same question, but got the opposite advice.

"Do not let them intimidate you. Wear your most elegant suit and tie."

Confused, the man went to his Priest, told him of the conflicting advice, and requested some resolution of the dilemma.

"Let me tell you a story," replied the Priest.

"A woman, about to be married, asked her mother what to wear on her wedding night. 'Wear a heavy, long, flannel nightgown that goes right up to your neck.' But when she asked her best friend, she got conflicting advice. Wear your most sexy negligee, with a V neck right down to your navel."

The man protested: "What does all this have to do with my problem with the IRS?!"

    "Simple", replied the Priest...

"It doesn't matter what you wear, you are going to get f****d!"

  11. Dr Gillian Samuels, chemist and erectile dysfunction therapist, has largely been credited with the invention of the wonder drug which we now know as Viagra. It was a long and tedious path though, spanning some 25 years of cumulative study and labwork. The real breakthough came though on a bleak September day in 1995 when she decided to cross an owl and a rooster............when the results came through, she was overjoyed to have a cock which stayed up all night

  12. I was so fed up with politics and buerocrats. They had sold my country from under me. We used to make cars....now ofshore. We used to make our own clothes.....now offshore. We used have our own doctors......now they're in from offshore. I couldn't take it anymore. All my neigbours had faces I used to see in national geographic magazine. I was at my wits end. I am going to have to step up and step out. I cracked a final bottle of whiskey. I drank half of it in two stong pulls. I loaded my old service pistol. I grabbed that bottle of Jacks and finished it off in one final pull. I brought the barrel to my mouth........and then the radio message caught my attention......"Call Lifeline, it's never too late to turn your life around, call 1-800-XXX-XXX now". I called and was connected to the Lifeline callcentre, which had been relocated offshore in Pakistan.......I told them I couldn't take it any more and was suicidal.............they got all exited and asked if I could drive a truck........

  13. God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.

He inquired, "Where have you been?"

God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds "Look, Michael. Look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God and I've put life on it… I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test Balance."

"Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused."

God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things.

God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to an island and said, "What's that one?"

"That's Australia, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and plains. The people from australia are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of good things such as ice cold beer"

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance..."

God smiled, "Close to Australia is New Zealand. Wait till you see the idiots I put there."

  14. I read an article recently ( but can't remember the source, so am quoting from memory) regarding torrent usage. It basically said:

    - 75% of all internet traffic worldwide was P2P torrents

    - Western countries accounted for up to 90% of all torrent traffic at any given time

    - 95% of torrent traffic was either of a pornographic nature or violating copyright

It leads me to think, with regards to some posters saying that a blockage of P2P would speed things up, that:

    - If you were visiting Thailand only sites it would speed things up

    - If you were visiting international sites/services, then all their servers would be clogged up anyway with torrent users

    - for people who live stream sports, they would no longer be able to

    - listening to you favoutite radio station back home may no longer be possible as many use P2P technology

But the real question I want to ask is:

How on earth could they possibly block torrent downloading??????? Yeah, they can URL block websites......but there is no way for them to to actually block the torrent protocol. These are the very fundamental problems faced by all the agecies trying to prevent P2P transfer of copyrighted materail.............

Also, I had to laugh at the early poster who said "why would anyone download illegal DVD's when you can buy them for 100Baht"........guess he doesn't realise that buying pirated DVD's is also illegal :bah::lol::rolleyes::whistling:

  15. Did anyone notice that this is not actually a "news" article, just an observation by a frusted internet user?????? 15 pages of discussion......this would of made an excellent APRIL the 1st news article for George :lol::lol:

PS...I'm not saying that its not worthy of news or that I haven't also been a frustrated internet user here in Thailand

  16. I just sent a package containing some naam and some hilltribe outfits to my family back home. Will the delivery be affected at all by this blockage by TOT. Also, is there any similarities to this blockage as the airport blockage by PAD...travelling soon and somewhat concerned.

  17. on thaiairways website main page is a link SUPER DEALS which has BKK-LHR return for 17000 Baht, unfortunately no one way...these are for specific dates leaving ( and returning) soon...so check the website once your wife has the visa...there may be something on special.

Next bet would be to check the airasia website....generally cheap flights from BKK-KUL and then can be quite cheap from KUL to stanstead(? not sure if I spelt that right)

Also for anyone interested in the Thai airways superdeals, they have return flights to Sydney and melbourne for 10,700 Baht.....once again, they are specific dates leaving and returning soon, but may be good for someone who needs a quick trip back to oz

    cheers,

    Bloodcat

  18. its takes less than 5 minutes to conduct the actual aids test.....add on say 3 hours each way for the blood to be transported to the hospital/testing facility and the reslts to be returned......you have around 4 hours....add a few more hours for "RED SHIRT" traffic jams...........hey they poured the blood over 2 weeks ago.......but today they release the results????????? Obv a govt generated piece of BS....tarnish the reds at all cost....they want democracy....don't let them
