  1. Missing the point, because it is a fact that you can hardly find any decent public toilets in and around any city in Thailand, and Thais themselves are setting the example by peeing wherever they please, but that seems to be well accepted. Picking and focusing on foreigners, ignoring the actual facts and issues, instead of looking at themselves, but self criticism seems none existent, since criticism is alien and not tolerated.
  2. The usual crap, lets blame the bad foreigners, elevating themselves, trying hard not to address the root of the problem, but admitting to their own failure is totally out of question. Maybe next century, but only maybe.
  3. Vow, you are totally missing the point comparing Singapore with Thailand, not seeing the real issue. Please get a reality check up!
  4. being professional liars, you will hardly ever hear the trues, especially foreigners involved..
  5. They don't seem to care much about our safety, it is only the money they care about. It is usually the locals parking bumper to bumper, like the driving behaving selfish, irresponsible and totally rude and uncivilized.
  6. Or maybe they just had enough of all the B.S. going on.
  7. Totally agree, they got their own medicine and don't seem to like it, but its ok for them to gang up on foreigners/pensioners and beat the crap out of people being twice or three time their age.
  8. doing fine, thanks!
  9. yes, has ruined my / family days many times over, but who cares, they certainly don't. I refuse to pay more by making a u turn, since I can live very well without being ripped just because I am a foreigner! I
  10. Absolutely agree, but once you live in Thailand, we have to ignore those facts, or amazing Thailand gets just too AMAZING, and criticism in general, and especially by foreigners is not being handled very well.
  11. Even my pink card didn't work at a military check point trying to enter a park. It is simply called discrimination, which should be illegal, but I suppose they like to remind us constantly where we are, in case we forgot!
  12. Slow learner is a mild remark. Being in the fifties he might never learn, or only the hard way!
  13. totally agree, and if you haven't figured out life by the time you hit the fifties, it might never happen.
  14. Good for you, sounds all great, and I suppose I should be happy for you, but we all know that life has its own way, and you certainly like to compliment yourself, in order to get your attention, but if that works for you, it is all good I guess. Enjoy life!
  15. Grown up in the western world, I'd say life is what you make it, since we have choices in our society/system. Having lived and travelled in many different countries, I decided to live in a tropical, warmer climate/country, I could financially afford with my Pension, because the rainy, grey and cold days I found depressing at times, plus people living in a warmer climate certainly seemed to be happier in general. Thailand just happened along the way, but is not my favored place, just looked like financially the best option at the time in my case. Would I recommend to move here permanently as a pensioner, depends on what you are looking for, financial situation, health, and life experience, since it can burn a lot of your energy dealing with an unfamiliar culture, especially if you consider yourself a civilized, disciplined individual, because discipline is pretty much non existing. As we get older priorities change of course, and our tolerance is limited according to our energy level. Conclusion: If I could financially afford to live in a western country like US, Australia, or the Mediterranean I certainly would. As an European the Mediterranean might a good solution, since it provides a similar culture, with similar education, decent, affordable, EU health cover, and a environment where I am understood, because of our western education and values, feel protected by the law and not by my financial status, at least to a certain extend. It is basically a never-ending list of reasons, but I am still living in Thailand, where I have to ignore certain things like disrespect, discrimination, double pricing, common knowledge, common sense, common courtesy and so on, in order to lead a somewhat happy life, according to my personal circumstances. All of that is of course ONLY MY personal opinion and my life experience on our planet. Think really hard and deep before deciding to move permanently, because a long term visits might change your mind, and be a better solution to start with!
