Thailand's New 300-Baht Tourism Tax: Aid or Hindrance?
bugger bognor replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This tourist tax saga has been going on for years it won't happen simply because there is no way of collecting the tax efficiently ! The airlines refuse to collect it on there behalf because Thai nationals are exempt the only way to collect is on arrival that would be a disaster and mass confusion mega cues etc. Just like the the bellends who believe we should all be getting a Tn and submitting a tax return it laughable -
Those who are <deleted>ting themselves and actually believe that all expats have to file a tax return ( Delusional ) why don't you go to Cambodia open a account transfer your money there convert it to Thai baht and carry it into Thailand! There is no limit from an adjoining country currency wise, perfectly legal , those of you say that can't be done think on yes it can even on a tourist visa

Pitbull mauls monk to death in gruesome Nonthaburi temple attack
bugger bognor replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Open your eyes at the way many animals are treated here nearly all dogs are territorial here ! Many Thais keep guard dogs like pitbulls rottweilers etc no training only food and water by there masters, are you aware that many dogs and unwanted puppies especially problematic dogs are taken and dropped at temples all around Thailand so monks will feed them and take care of them this dog was most likely taken there so don't be a <deleted> and think before you speak -
Pitbull mauls monk to death in gruesome Nonthaburi temple attack
bugger bognor replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Not the dogs fault the owners whomever took care of this dog were clueless, people were probably scared so the dog was caged too long and not stimulated or excersised wouldn't surprise me if it was locked on a chain when it was outside majority of it's time ! It's tragic that this monk lost his life hopefully people will learn something from this tragedy this happens regularly here in Thailand education is needed- 101 replies

Since this story broke the fear mongering and hysteria has spread throughout the expat community only the charlatans YouTubers and foreign tax companies here have profited from the narrative. The media have only added fuel to the fire, The simple facts are if any of this was true about getting a Tn and submitting a tax return I mean all expats! We would have been informed shortly after the memo went out of our responsibilitys every immigration office would have an advertising campaign all online reporting would have a banner referring to a website with all the new criteria in multiple languages! The Thai revenue department would have recruited hundreds nationally if not thousands of extra staff experts in every language and every country in the world tax laws to cope with the influx of foreign tax returns this imo would take decades not only to implement also to put into law, ask yourself why you have not been directly informed by immigration via your 90 day reports ! The reason is simple it's not going to happen maybe they will target ultra rich foreigners with offshore companies bringing in large amounts of revenue! That I could believe they could target .The work and effort and staffing to force all expats through the Thai system would not be cost effective be extremely time consuming and very bad for future foreign investment in property and businesses locating here! At the end of the day common sense will prevail it's always about the money not your personal feelings TIT relax you've nothing to worry about

No Rules or regulations have changed! The Thai tax system is a honour based system out of the 40 million workers approximately 10 million pay tax! That leaves 30 million people who allegedly don't meet the tax threshold! why are the expat community in such a flap ! There not going after any of there own 30 million non tax payers first, the voluntary based tax system will stay in place there is no statements from ANY official government departments about any enforcement There has been no government campaign to inform expats to do anything at all regarding tax I would suggest strongly if all expats had to get a tax number and file for taxes next year every immigration office in the country would be attaching letters informing you on your 90 day reporting regarding the matter I would like to point out to enforce all expats to get a TN and file for taxes would be almost impossible for the current tax department to process here are some reasons. staff not trained in global tax laws , not enough bilingual staff many expats here don't speak English or Thai! if we were all to get a TN and try to submit a tax return in January the staff and offices could not cope with such an influx it will take many years to train and expand their employees also more offices specifically for expats with the appropriate staff! My belief is the system will stay the same no new information by any departments will be forthcoming there will be hilarious scenes in January of expats trying file returns the do goody prefect type eager to give the Thai government there cash only to be told we don't know please go home we don't need sabai sabai

The UK annual tax free allowance is 12570 UK pounds approximately 585000 baht i transfer less than that amount annually to my Thai bank account ! So am I liable for tax with the UK dual tax treaty ? Also I havent worked in the UK for thee years and have no paperwork to prove anything all my money is lifetime savings how do I prove decades of savings never filed a tax return always Been on PAYE
-
That may be the case my point is the Thai authorities will have to do a national campaign to inform All expats of the exact legal position! nobody has any idea of what will really come to pass or be enforced. Most likely nothing will be clarified before next year knowing how Thai authorities operate . There would be enormous pressure on immigration and the tax department in January next year if we all had to file and get the necessary paperwork there would need to be thousands of extra staff trained in all languages and international tax treaties and code's, would be very difficult for the Thai revenue department to be upto speed for years

New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
bugger bognor replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yet another thread no new information ! But Endless speculation, and the usual scaremongering. Pray tell me when did the Thai revenue department announce every expat has got to get a TN number and file a Tax return next year by LAW? When did immigration state that your visa won't be renewed unless you file a tax return!? When did any Thai government department state this will be enforced on all expats? I will do absolutely nothing untill it is forced upon me by law and enforced, stop <deleted>ting yourselves 99.9% of retirees won't have to do a bloody thing or pay and file any tax return here. Remember Folks NO ENFORCEMENT = NO COMPLIANCE unless you are a prize <deleted> -

Foreigners and their overseas income: what next?
bugger bognor replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yet another thread with pointless fear mongering and guesswork don't be surprised if there's no new information or clarification whatsoever from any official source! I know people will say you should be planning ahead incase you may have to do this and that but the reality is nothing has changed my advice is to plan on tax avoidance like all buissines and the rich do here untill it becomes clear which could be a very long wait! on legal Tax avoidance are you aware that you can legally carry 450000 Thai bath undeclared into Thailand from any bordering country in cash! ALso if you fly home you can legally carry 20000 USD or the equivalent in any currency into Thailand believe me it's relatively simple to get an account in one particular adjoining country who will happily give you Thai baht in large quantities I'm not saying or suggesting you should do this but it's a start to protect yourself from possible but unlikely implementation I believe like many it won't amount to people's worst fears but if you are pooping yourself get thinking of avoidance and not compliance SHEEPLE
