  1. A couple of points Jim. Once again, this thread is not just about you, your circumstances and needs, you've told us tens of time since page one that you wont have to pay Thai tax, that's great isn't it! This thread is actually about demonstrating to everyone, typically posters from other countries, what the position is on these various tax related challenges. There are a lot of posters who feel put off by many of these discussions and about how complex and unnecessary some of the discussions are. Many people are having difficulty grasping even the basics because of the nature and style of the discussions. I don't know about other frequent posters in this thread but I'm averaging around five PM's a week from people looking for simple explanations and for help in understanding those basics. The thread would do well to redirect itself, if it is to be of any value to a majority rather than just a talking shop and ego sharpening exercise for the few.

  3. Jerry was indeed correct, as are you for a change when you mention not all countries use the 180/183 day rule. However, my earlier most was not discussing the US, Germany or other countries, my post was discussing two very specific countries, the UK and Thailand, in an attempt to explain one particular posters tax issues. What I wrote was: "As a general rule, it is not possible to be tax resident in the UK and Thailand, in the same tax year." My earlier post then went on to acknowledge the existence of the HMRC Ties Rules and their complexity but purposely did not go into detail because there was no need. Please don't attempt to correct the posts of others and admonish posters, until after you have read thoroughly what has been written and completely understood everything, otherwise you come across as not competent and that is not a desirable trait of a "tax expert". And please don't try to second guess what my career background might have been or comment on it, because it is not relevant, nor are remarks of a personal nature permitted under forum guidelines. Thanks
  4. When the tax payer signs the form they are verifying that it is true and correct, it says that......correct includes that the form is complete and that there are no omissions.
  5. My blood tests today came out as follows: TSH is high at 5.90 and FT4 is in range on the low side at 1.05 (range is 0.70 to 1.48). FT3 is 3.09 My dosage has been increased from 0.75 to 1.0, Dr Endo suspects the end result will be around 1.40 but she's taking it in baby steps because of concern about my heart (I have a stent). Oh yes, am also instructed to take 100 mg Vit C to help aid absorption. I also asked for my Calcium to be tested. Previously I was on 6,000 mg a day which was reduced to the current 3,000mg, tonight it has been reduced to 1,500. High dosage Calcium has been causing constipation which might be the cause of some weight gain and bloating discomfort (my movements are irregular at best). Back to see Dr Endo in 5 weeks. Thank you so much to everyone who posted on this subject, PM'd me and offered support and advice and shared their story, it is all greatly appreciated. I'll leave this open in case there's more to add later.
  6. I've emailed world bank and told them of their errors and asked them to contact you directly.
  7. You and cyclist should get married. Ignore list, life is too short, bye
  8. Go back and read it again, slowly, I'm loosing the will to live with you on this. No wait, I tell you what, I'm wrong, just like I was wrong for filing a tax return in years gone by. So, matter now closed. If anyone else has anything they would like me to admit being wrong about, I admit all instances, I was very wrong and you were right. That feels so much better. Now, I'm off for any appointment so don't bother baiting. Bye.
  9. Plus I'm not sure how many would fund their 800k out of income rather pre 2024 savings, in which case, no tax is due.
  10. Yep, buy shares in companies that sell pill splitters! Thanks for that, I agree the sizes are not convenient but glad that you found good endo's.
  11. Sorry, I was merely trying to lighten things up a little, I think most people understand that 87 cms is only 2 ft 8inches.
  12. The thresholds are 60k if only savings income and 120k for savings plus other income.
  13. No. :))
  14. I've brought forward my meeting with the hormones specialist from Sunday until 6pm today, it's been 6 weeks since my last blood test so I'm pretty sure the dosage needs increasing. I'm getting big despite hardly eating anything.
  15. I believe SSc and Citi use an average rate for the period rather than the latest rate on the day the transfer is made. Also, Bangkok Bank charges me about 500 baht for the transfer and that is capped.
  16. How do you decide its short, what are you comparing against?
  17. At only 67 cms you're rather short, I'm guessing you mean 87?
  18. Yes agreed. Although the RD knowing those things and ignoring them, if that's what they did, doesn't prevent them from using that information against individuals in the future, if they so chose. Let's face it, that loophole law was costing them money, a lot of money.
  19. You may not have Ben, but my guess is that a high percentage of those using the income method of 40k or 65k per month did. For many, that was the only way they could afford to live here.
  20. Forum rules are explicit, you must supply a link to support material statement s such as yours....where's the link? Thai Embassy website? That is not the RD! So you're saying you were sold Thailand on the basis of a quote from a private website....that's not too bright, is it! https://www.thaiembassy.com/
  21. Where in the Revenue Department rules and tax code does your quote come from please, what section and paragraph? There, for the first time in 530 posts, I've finally said something useful!
  22. It's not about just you Jim, not everyone was sweetness and light and followed the letter of the law! I recall from threads over the years, many many posters saying they had their pension deposited directly into their Thai bank accounts in Thailand!
  23. Cyclist, if you can't figure out whether giving incomplete information on a tax return and not declaring overseas transfers that represent assessable income is tax evasion, you shouldn't be out in the big wide world alone.
