  2. Picture courtesy of Siamchon. CCTV of collision below. A young motorcyclist was left injured after a collision with a pickup truck in Pattaya, at approximately 19:10 on 2 April. The incident, which occurred on Soi Khao Talo in the Nong Prue area, took a violent turn when the driver of the pickup allegedly assaulted the injured teenager. The crash involved a white Honda Click 160i motorcycle, registered in Chonburi, and a black Toyota Vigo pickup truck with Bangkok plates. The motorcyclist, identified as 18-year-old Prayut, was found lying on his back at the scene, suffering from a broken left leg and multiple abrasions. Rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation promptly transported him to Bang Lamung Hospital for treatment. Prayut’s mother, 37-year-old Kanokwan, arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call from her son. She described her anguish upon finding him injured and in pain. However, her distress deepened when she encountered the pickup truck driver. “The driver told me he was not at fault and that my son was to blame. He even said he wasn’t afraid of anyone and insisted he had done nothing wrong,” she recounted. Bystanders claimed the pickup driver physically assaulted Prayut after the crash, kicking him while he lay injured and even threatening to shoot him if he had a gun. Following the attack, angry residents confronted the pickup driver. Tensions boiled over as bystanders reportedly began hitting him, using helmets as weapons and shouting at him for his actions. The driver was only spared further harm when traffic police from Nong Prue Police Station arrived to de-escalate the situation. The driver of the pickup truck was taken into police custody at Nong Prue Police Station. Upon investigation and despite a press pass in the car’s window, authorities discovered he was not a journalist. He claimed the truck belonged to his father, who had affixed the sticker long ago for unknown reasons. Police are now investigating the incident, including allegations of physical assault and the circumstances leading to the crash. Kanokwan has called for justice, expressing fears that her son may not receive fair treatment. “My son was already injured, yet he was attacked. I just want to make sure this is properly investigated,” she stated. Authorities have assured a full inquiry and legal action as necessary. -- 2025-04-03 ScreenRecording_04-03-2025 09-26-37_1.mp4

  4. Picture courtesy of Matichon. A case of animal cruelty has emerged in Nakhon Ratchasima, where 17 dogs were found dead after being poisoned. The incident has sparked outrage among animal lovers and prompted military authorities to take swift action. The Volunteer Animal Lovers Club Facebook page first reported the incident on April 2nd, sharing heartbreaking images of six dogs lying dead inside Development Unit 2 at Surathampitak Camp. Later updates confirmed that a total of 17 dogs had been poisoned. The poisoning reportedly occurred on the evening of April 1st, following an incident in which a stray dog attacked a goat within Artillery Battalion 23, Artillery Regiment 6, resulting in the dog’s death. The following day, the remaining dogs within Development Unit 2 were found dead, leading to suspicions of deliberate poisoning. Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Region, has ordered a formal investigation and instructed officials to file legal complaints against those responsible. The perpetrators will face charges under Thailand’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which classifies the offence as a criminal act. Authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice, emphasising that animal cruelty is a crime. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward. -- 2025-04-03

  6. Pictures courtesy of Kaoded. A man who targeted homes in foreigner-populated neighbourhoods has been arrested after police tracked him down using the signal from a stolen MacBook. Officers discovered a trove of stolen items, including cash, jewellery, and luxury brand bags, in his possession. On 2 April, a joint operation by investigators from Na Jomtien and Pattaya Police Stations led to the arrest of 37-year-old Jamrat Nuansi at The Venetian Condominium in Na Jomtien, Sattahip district, Chonburi. The suspect was found with stolen jewellery, various foreign currencies, designer bags, and a white Honda Civic (registration from Bangkok), which he allegedly used during his burglaries. The investigation began earlier that morning when a Burmese victim reported a burglary. Using tracking software, the victim traced their stolen MacBook to a parked vehicle at the condominium. When police questioned the security guard, they identified the suspect’s room, where officers found Jamrat along with a large amount of stolen property. During questioning, Jamrat admitted to breaking into homes, specifically targeting residences of foreign nationals. He revealed that he worked as a maintenance worker but supplemented his income by stealing valuables and selling them for personal expenses and online gambling. Following his confession, Na Jomtien police transferred him to Pattaya investigators for further questioning and legal proceedings. He now faces multiple charges related to theft and burglary. -- 2025-04-03

  8. Pictured courtesy of CH7 A 68-year-old volunteer civil defence officer in Bangkok is in critical condition after being strangled by a four-metre-long python while attempting to capture it. The snake had entered a residential home and killed a pet cat before the officer tried to intervene. The incident occurred in Phasi Charoen district when Charan Mabkhunthot, a seasoned volunteer with the Civil Defence Division (Or Por Por Ror), responded to a call from a resident who discovered the massive snake in their home. The homeowner, fearing for their safety, remained on the upper floor and provided a flashlight to assist Charan in catching the snake. Believing he had the situation under control, Charan grabbed the snake’s head with one hand and its tail with the other. However, the python unexpectedly coiled its powerful body around his neck, tightening its grip. Witnesses saw him staggering before realising he was in distress. The homeowner rushed down to help but was unable to loosen the snake’s grip. After a brief struggle, the python suddenly released Charan and slithered away. However, by that time, Charan had already collapsed, his face turning blue, and his heart had stopped beating. Emergency responders from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation arrived and performed CPR before rushing him to Siriraj Hospital, where he was placed in intensive care, where he remains unconscious. Officials from Phasi Charoen District Office are discussing possible support measures for his recovery. The Bangkok Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) confirmed that trained personnel are usually well-prepared for snake-catching operations. However, in this case, the python’s sheer strength may have overpowered the officer, leading to the near-fatal incident. Authorities have reminded the public to seek professional help when dealing with large snakes and to exercise extreme caution, even if handling them appears straightforward. -- 2025-04-03

Authorities disclosed on 2 April, details of an earlier incident in Phichit Province that claimed the life of a nine-year-old child who inadvertently picked up an improvised explosive device (IED) while playing along a roadside in Nong Phra Subdistrict, Wang Sai Phun District. The device exploded upon being handled, resulting in the child’s death. According to reports, a total of five IEDs were discovered in the area. Three had already detonated before the child’s fatal encounter on March 23rd, when the fourth device exploded. A fifth unexploded device was later found by medical personnel from Wang Sai Phun and Nong Phra Health Promotion Hospitals. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel safely removed the device to prevent further casualties. The incident has sparked public outrage, with social media users demanding justice for the child and questioning how such dangerous explosives were abandoned in a public area. A Facebook post by the page “Talad Lang Upgrade” highlighted the tragedy, raising concerns over the origins of the explosives and calling for accountability. Another post, shared by a local Facebook user, urged media outlets and authorities to take action, expressing frustration that the case appeared to be receiving little attention. In response, the Wang Sai Phun Subdistrict Administrative Organisation Engineering Department issued a public warning to residents, advising them to report any suspicious objects resembling explosives to the police immediately. 14. Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 55-year-old monk in Mukdahan province was defrocked and arrested after allegedly brandishing a homemade firearm while intoxicated and threatening local residents. Authorities later discovered bottles of alcohol in his living quarters at the temple. The incident occurred in the afternoon of 1 April in Nong Waeng subdistrict, Nikhom Kham Soi district. A video recorded by residents showed the monk, later identified as Phra Thongphun, walking from a local temple in an intoxicated state. He reportedly claimed that there were three firearms at the temple and that he was carrying one. He was also heard confronting locals, asking, “Do you have a problem with me? Do you want to die?” Concerned residents reported the matter to district officials. Teerawat Meekham, Deputy District Chief for Security, led a team of district security officers and police from Nikhom Kham Soi Police Station to investigate. Authorities found Phra Thongphun in a drunken state, speaking incoherently. A search of his quarters uncovered a homemade firearm. He was taken to meet Phra Khru Wachirathampinit Aruno, the chief monk of Nikhom Kham Soi district, who formally defrocked him. Further inspection of his living quarters revealed three bottles of white liquor and leftover food, suggesting he had been drinking heavily. Local residents reported that he was not originally from the temple but had been staying there for only two days before the incident. A witness, identified only as Ms. B 22, stated that she knew Phra Thongphun because she had previously dated his nephew. She recounted that on the day of the incident, the monk had been searching for a 13-year-old disciple but, after failing to find him, became agitated. He allegedly drew his gun and threatened to harm those sitting nearby. Fearing for their safety, Ms. B contacted the authorities. The former monk has been taken into custody and is being held at Mukdahan Provincial Court. He faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition without a permit and will be prosecuted according to the law. -- 2025-04-03

The deceased, who was dressed neatly, had no identification on him, and authorities are working to identify him. At around 08:00 on 2 April, officers from Rattanathibet Police Station, along with rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded to a report of a body found floating in the Chao Phraya River. The corpse was caught in a patch of water hyacinths beneath the pier in Tha Sai subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi district. A forensic team from the Institute of Forensic Science was called to the scene. The deceased was found wearing a white T-shirt, brown jeans, a black wristwatch, and black-and-white semi-leather sneakers. His body was face-down in the water, and no identification documents were found. Rescue workers retrieved the body and brought it to the pier at Wat Tumnak Tai for further examination. An initial medical examination revealed no visible wounds or signs of violence. It is estimated that the man had been dead for two to three days before his body was discovered. 18. Pictures from Raid Authorities conducted a raid on a warehouse in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, seizing a vast quantity of goods suspected of being illegally imported. The operation, which took place at 15:00 on 2 April, was led by Mr Patcharapath Sritanyanon, Bang Lamung District Chief, along with Pol. Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, Superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station, and Pol. Col. Napaspong Khositsuriyamanee, Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration. Officers from the district health department, undercover investigators, and immigration police were also involved in the raid. The warehouse, located at 122/47, Moo 7, Nong Prue, was reportedly being used by a group of Chinese investors to store and distribute imported goods, many of which appeared to be illegal. Covering an area of approximately 400 square metres, the facility housed a wide variety of products, including dietary supplements, cosmetics, pharmaceutical drugs, pet supplies, home decor, electronic items, and imitation weapons. The seized items included fake firearms, knuckle dusters, and Bruce Lee-style Nunchucks, all of which were stockpiled in large quantities. Authorities found four individuals at the warehouse: one Chinese man, one Thai man, and two Thai women, all engaged in packing parcels for shipment. They were ordered to cease operations and present import documentation for the goods. However, they were unable to provide any legal import records, leading to an immediate seizure of all stored products. A 32-year-old Chinese national, Mr Lin, identified himself as the warehouse manager but claimed he was merely an employee. He stated that the actual owner, a fellow Chinese businessman, had recently returned to China, leaving him in charge of receiving shipments, storing goods, and preparing orders for online sales. According to Mr Lin, most of the products arrived via cargo ships from China, after which they were stored in the warehouse until orders were received. Sales were primarily conducted through live-streaming sessions and e-commerce platforms, with goods shipped to customers upon purchase. A preliminary inspection of the seized items revealed that many products failed to meet regulatory standards, with dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals lacking FDA approval. Officials warned that some of these products could pose serious health risks if consumed. Additionally, the imitation weapons were found to be highly realistic. The authorities have taken the four individuals into custody for further interrogation. Investigators are now working to track down the warehouse’s true owner and determine the full extent of the operation. Legal proceedings will follow as officials continue their crackdown on illicit trade and smuggling networks in the region. -- 2025-04-03

  20. Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 29-year-old man in Udon Thani caused alarm after running frantically across a busy road, claiming his electronic monitoring (EM) bracelet was about to explode and sever his leg. The man, who was under the influence of drugs, was later taken into police custody and transferred to a hospital for treatment. At approximately 09:10 on 2 April, police in Mueang Udon Thani received reports of a shirtless man in jeans, barefoot, and running back and forth across Thahan Road near Prachak Sinlapakhom Camp Hospital. Witnesses expressed concern that he might cause an crash or harm himself. Police Lieutenant Ittiphon Jittajan, who was patrolling local banks at the time, arrived at the scene and restrained the man before calling for backup from the 191 emergency response unit. The man was identified as Jirayu, also known as “Tao”, a resident of Ban Tat subdistrict. When questioned, he admitted that he had stolen 1,700 baht from his mother to check into a hotel with a woman named Tarn. He claimed Tarn provided him with two methamphetamine pills, after which she became agitated, warning that her boyfriend was looking for her. Jirayu said he panicked when he heard his EM bracelet beeping and, convinced it was about to explode, fled the hotel in terror. “I thought my leg would be blown off,” he told officers, adding that he was also afraid Tarn’s boyfriend would shoot him. He ran barefoot until his feet were covered in cuts and bruises. Jirayu further revealed that he had been in a relationship with Tarn for two years and had no idea she had another boyfriend. “She drained me of everything I had,” he said. “If I’d known she had a boyfriend, I wouldn’t have been with her.” Police confirmed that Jirayu had a criminal record, including a previous conviction for theft after stealing electrical wires from a rented room in Udon Thani last year. He was sentenced to one month in prison before his grandmother bailed him out, after which he was required to wear an EM bracelet. Lieutenant Ittiphon stated that Jirayu was highly anxious and confused, repeatedly insisting that someone was trying to kill him. “It’s clear he was hallucinating due to drug use,” the officer said. “He was convinced his EM bracelet would explode.” Jirayu was taken to Udon Thani Hospital for medical evaluation and detoxification. Authorities have contacted his family to arrange for his care, aiming to prevent further public disturbances. -- 2025-04-03
