  1. I saw that a lot of people buy a 1 year deal like you have, but for me it would be overkill as I'm only here 2 months this trip. I did look at having TOT broadband connected, but again it would be overkill, plus the fact they couldn't install for "between 10 and 15 days". I just need something for a couple of months, and the possibility of keeping it alive until next time.

  3. So, rather than using a (dtac) Tourist sim for the next 2 months, and paying over the odds to stay connected with data, I have found and ordered a True sim on Shopee. Now, it's the first time doing this so please bear with me. I presume once it's arrived with me, I go to a True shop and register it, and then pay for the 100GB promotion? But what is that cost per month and will it be easy for me to explain what I want? I'm presuming again that at the end of the 30 days I do it again for next month? The whole idea is to have a "keeper" number here in Thailand. I've just read another thread on here about how to keep the number alive so I'm hoping next time I'm back the number will still be valid. It seems this is the way to go rather than just going into a shop and asking for a monthly deal. Am I on the right tracks with my understanding or completely wrong?
  4. Hi, As the title says: I'm hoping for a repair/service recommendation for someone in Pattaya. The canopy itself is supposed to have a rope on each side, and as you pull both sides go up at the same time. One side of mine the rope and pulley are missing. The awning is permanently down right now and the best I can do every day is to just lift one corner and get some light and air into my condo. The actual blue plastic material is in good condition, but on one side the metal strut needs refixing to the wall. This is on the 12th floor so need someone with a head for heights, a rope and an anchor. I can normally fix a lot of things myself, but I'm here on my own and don't want to take the risk. In the UK we would call this an awning or canopy, but I'm not even sure of the correct term here.
  5. Thanks all for your replies. I downloaded Shopee and the main parts of the app are in English, but the actual items listed are mostly in Thai. If that's as good as it gets I should make do by running things through a translator (screenshot, then Google Translate I think is what I tried) I'm not going to order any bed or mattress, I should be able to make do with what I have. Mine isn't as bad as first thought after I re-inspected it in daylight. I have already order some bedding and pillows but had to select COD as their system wouldn't accept either of the 2 cards I offered for payment. Hoping the delivery goes to plan. I've only recently started using Temu in the UK, and that seems very similar to these two. Probably as highly addictive too once you get going.
  6. Sorry if it's been asked before, but.... Only just discovered these 2 online shopping places and was looking to order a bed and or a mattress. Only trouble is, the mobile websites appear to only be in Thai language. Are the apps multi-languaged? Also, If I could get beyond the language barrier, is setting up an account easy enough? I own a condo now and have just taken residence as of yesterday. The mattress is a howler, hence asking.
  7. Done. Added Title to first part, then passport copy to 2nd part. It says accepted so job done.
  8. So, after recently buying my first condo in Thailand, I am preparing for my next trip in a couple of weeks time. I'll be staying approximately 2 months on a 60 day tourist visa. I understand I will need to fill in a TM30 for myself as I will be staying the whole time at my new place, so I have registered online, and added my details as the host. On the next step, it asks for details of the address, and then there are 2 places to upload documents, one of which I presume is the Tabian Baan? As I bought the condo remotely I don't have any paperwork with me yet, only a digital copy of the Title. Does this mean I wont be able to complete the online registration and I will have to go to the Immigration Office once there?
  9. Just an update to say the transfer of ownership went through without issue. My Thai missus confirms it is my name on the title, and not the agent's or POA lawyer's 😀 I'll be over early next month to collect the keys. Should I expect a tabian baan, or just the title deeds?
  10. Thanks again for all the answers. I've now signed a copy of my passport and have posted it this morning. There's still 17 days before transfer day and no point in taking the chance that just a copy would have worked. I read again about the bank transfer(s) to Thailand and I didn't read anywhere it has to go into my own account. I believe as long as FET shows it came from me, and arrived in foreign currency, I should be all good. I'll update this thread, and probably start other threads regarding ownership of a condo, in due course... Thanks again.

  12. I'm looking at it as the agent is holding the funds in escrow. Not so normal for the UK, but maybe common in Thailand as in the US?
  13. Yes, foreign quota. It will be my first condo purchase in Thailand. I should say I did view the condo back in May, made an offer which was rejected in June, but then was accepted last month. I did visit the agent's office back in May too, and they do seem quite well known and established. So, it's not entirely a remote purchase.
  14. Makes me now think I should have come on the forum earlier to see if this was acceptable first, before even proceeding. So now potentially two hiccups when it comes to transfer day....
  15. I tried to open an account there in May for the purpose of buying a condo, but was ill-prepared as I was only there on a visa waiver. So the two small transfers (totalling around 10% of purchase price) I've made so far have gone to the real estate company. The remaining 90% will be sent there too. And yes it was sent as £s, and with reference to buying a condo.

  17. Hi all, So I'm part way through buying a condo from home here in the UK. Agreement has been signed by seller and myself, and 10% deposit paid. As we are both foreigners, and in our home countries, we are both giving power of attorney to Thai representatives. Yesterday I had 2 x POAs (Thai and English versions), and copy of my passport notarised as per the agent's instruction, then straight down the Post Office and sent it on it's way to Thailand. This morning I notified the agent it was sent, and messaged her pictures of the documents so she knew what to expect in a few day's time. She then asked could I sign the passport copy, to which I said no, it's already sent. At the Notary office the notary did notarise the passport copy but I had not been asked to sign it. I only signed the POAs. Anyway, a few minutes after asking me to sign it the agent says, "no problem kha". My question is: Will this be a problem at the Land office when the transfer is made?
