  1. I knew John Kerry way back when he was VVAW, his agenda became apparent then (politics for himself) and I was one of the instigators forcing him to resign from VVAW at the Kansas City Steering Committee Meeting. He did NOT lie about his service in Vietnam, the paid 'swift boot' liars did. On behalf of John, his testimony before Congress was outstanding, too bad he didn't remain true to his ideals at the time. The US should follow it's own advice. Witness the violent, illegal and un-Constitutional crackdown on OWS protesters orchestrated by the gestapo, oops homeland security, fumbling bureau of idiots and other initials. Witness the spying and infiltration by COINTELPRO types in legitimate non-violent organizations that want Amerika to become America. Amerika has no business preaching to the world, it needs to get it's own house in order first. Keep GitMo open for those that really belong there, starting with cheney/shrub et al.

Wow! Do you keep your passport in a lead lined box? Just saying.

  2. Press Statement

    John Kerry

    Secretary of State

    Washington, DC

    February 28, 2014

I call upon Thai authorities to investigate these attacks swiftly and bring those responsible to justice. Violence is not an acceptable means of resolving political differences. We are also concerned by the employment of other tactics that undermine Thailand’s democratic values and processes, inhibit compromise, and further exacerbate political tensions.

    Soucre: http://m.state.gov/md222778.htm

    -- U.S. Department of State 2014-03-01

It seems to me that this entire part of the statement is aimed at the current Thai government. If so it speaks volumes.

  3. Maybe the loony fringe on this site will now understand just exactly what it is they have been supporting in their frenzied, grovelling, fawning adulation of Suthep

Oh yeah, red shirts want to secede and form their own Northern republic while raising a 600,000 strong 'tactically trained' militia. And yet, we have mentally challenged reds having the cheek to call us the loony fringe. rolleyes.gif

Loved this post, it actually made me 'laugh out loud'. A great response to a typical RS rant.

As for PRbkk, I'd expect more from a senior citizen (with age comes wisdom?), unless you're after brownie points from the missus, in which case you have my sympathy.

  4. I would love to see a (purely factual) timeline of this entire rice pledging scheme, including decisions made, govt quotes, etc.

A visual representation, nice and clear.

Better still, I'd love to see one from each side, to compare the differences in 'facts'.

  5. Nice to see redshirt supporters being able to muster some kind of argument together for once.

Gotta feel sorry for you guys, having to argue that black is white must take it's toll.

Just heard that a bomb was thrown at the whistle blower's house.

So, all the red shirt supporters who berated the people for blowing whistles, what's your reaction to this news?

Just when you were able to play at being oppressed, someone blows a whistle against you and gets a bomb thrown in response.

  6. This banned for 5 years deal is BS. People should only have one chance in politics!

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

As I understand, they have a 5 year banning, then a 10 year banning on the 2nd offense, and it's not until the 3rd time, do they receive a permanent banning.

So, after the second time they pass the baton to a relative and live off their unusual amount of wealth gained from 'two timing' the country. There should be a severe penalty 1st time, with a message such as "You have abused the trust of the people who voted for you, disgraced your family name and failed to serve anyone but yourself. Go to jail for 10 years without parole."

Fear of public humiliation, and therefore loss of face could be an effective deterrent, plus of course mandatory jail time. People need to know how serious a crime corruption is, the penalty needs to be up there with the most serious crimes, rather than a slap on the wrist and, let's face it, a 5 year holiday.

  7. one keeps wondering if those PT people are sane or not.

cheering at the deaths of anti-governmet supporters, innocent shoppers at Big C, and calling fot a separated Thailand and making threats with 10.000.000 guns is accepted, but now the office of Thailands biggest alcoholic is under fire, all hell brake loose……..

More of a question of greed than sanity IMO. There are side effects to being consumed by this very common disease.

These are very apparent in some more than others.

  8. Well that confirms that the reds are planning to split Thailand into the northern Republic of Shin, where "corruption is normal"(long termers will remember the champion of democracy that said that infamous quote), the people will be promised everything while being robbed of their hope, future and dignity. Good luck to them up there, they will get exactly what they want and deserve.

Meanwhile the rest of the nation can continue in an improving democracy, complete with strengthened checks and balances, functioning police force, education improvements. The vital lesson that must be learned for the nation south of the Republic of Shin is that a cult of personality such as the one that the Shins created must never be allowed again. Had Thaksin's first election win been nullified due to his lying and blatant asset concealment(which showed he was 100% unsuitable to be PM in a functioning democracy) none of this mess would have happened. Checks and balances, checks and balances........

So true, all because of the immortal "honest mistake". Dark days ahead for the north?

  9. ''Mr Surasak said they had the right to do so but he doubted they had any concrete evidence to press charges''.

Of course, something may have been lost in translation, but .... only 'doubted' that they had concrete evidence.

.... A rather curious turn of phrase ?

Not sure if they found any ;)

Has to be lost in translation, surely no one would be that stupid. Then again...

Almost like saying that someone wasn't somewhere and didn't break the law, even if she was there.

They're next move may be to say "what rice???"

  10. Interesting to see how this is unravelling: Govt can't claim political motivation for once.

Now that they're breaking international laws which affect other countries, they may finally have to produce some figures for the whole scheme, and account for the rice, if not the money.

Maybe they can learn from this:

They shouldn't 'dump' where they please, the International Community may dump back, then they will know what it's like to be dumped on.

  11. Isn't this the same one who stated she didn't believe in "one person, one vote"?

Interesting view if she wants to be PM someday - hope she grows out of it.

I can understand her perspective. For democracy to work there has to be a reasonably educated and informed population.

The kind of people who won't sell their vote, or vote for someone who is clearly not interested in the needs of the people, with policies which will totally destroy the economy.

This is clearly not the case in Thailand and if you give every adult a vote, you may as well let children vote too because they are probably just as educated and possibly as informed.

Education is needed on democracy before it can be implemented effectively.

Her comment about Issan is harsh but true, and sometimes the truth hurts. Maybe there is hope after all.

This sort of reasoning was once (shamefully) used in the UK to suppress supposed "inferior women" (who could not think for themselves), when women were not allowed to vote fully until 1928 (resisted by the "superior" Men).

From 1918-1928, women could vote if they were 30 years old and if they met "property qualifications" or if they were graduates of UK universities.

In 1928, when all adult women were allowed to vote (without nonsensical age restrictions nor "property qualifications" nor educational hurdles), was the UK thrown into chaos?

Similarly, in South Africa, Blacks were not able to vote until 1994 (resisted by the "superior" Whites). After that, it can be argued that S.A. suffered in some areas, but universal equality for all of its citizens was achieved.

And the poor blacks (the majority) finally got the attention that they deserved from their representatives.

Not letting women (resisted by the "superior" Men) or Blacks (resisted by the "superior" Whites) or poor Thai farmers (resisted by the "superior" HiSo Elites) participate in Democracy is patently morally wrong, wrong, wrong.

Tenuous connections. The people you mention fought for their votes, deserved them, and didn't abuse or sell them once they had them.

Anyway, what's your big idea to get Thailand out of this mess?

Bring Thaksin back, he'd surely eradicate poverty in 6 months, and we'd all live happily ever after?

  12. Didn't the PCAD have their armed, hired thugs like in BKK?

I suppose they know that they cannot be big armed, hired thugs outside of a tiny percent of the country.

So you support what the red shirts did? Was it ok to forcefully and violently break up a peaceful demonstration?

But then you probably think that what they did in 2010 was fine, so this is nothing, right?

  13. An arrogant little rich bitch is an ideal poster child for the PDRC!

Just to back up your supreme ignorance, do you think you could point out how she has shown arrogance, and what she has done for you to justify calling her a bitch?

Or perhaps you simply resent those who are more affluent than you.

On a positive note you may be correct about her stature but how does that affect anything?

Her demeaning comments about rural Thais aren't enough for you, including the one below?

"... many Thais lack a true understanding of democracy... especially in the rural areas"

And you're saying that this is inaccurate? How about the 'red villages'? Do they have a good understanding of democracy?

Try to go there, disagree with their ideas and see what happens. I double dare you.

  15. <deleted> is that?

Future PM? What about your fashion style?

I liked the bit where she claims a lot if experience in politics. Dies that extend to not wanting poor or stupid people to vote as she was quoted before?

My God, Thailand is a mess. This is the future. Anointed daughters of breweries educated overseas whilst living in glorious isolation in bangkok?

    Torturingly depressing

Don't mock an overseas education. It takes global citizens to run countries nowadays. The ability to speak English helps too :)

  16. I don't suppose she thought to request some magic help with loans for the rice farmers.

No, didn't think so, why would she?

If of course she was there, and doing nothing illegal, which is a strange bit to add in itself, why would Noppadon say that she wasn't there, followed by saying even if she was, she wasn't doing anything illegal?

If she wasn't there, why not just say that she wasn't there?

Or, indeed if she wasn't there and someone reported that she was, why even make a statement at all?

Then why add to the mix by saying that if she was there she was doing nothing wrong?

That's as far as I'm going with this...

Strange indeed but not at all surprising.

That's all you got? Tenuous at best.

Must be hard to form an argument, there's a reason for that.
