  1. New ministerial regulations (draft) open, criteria for permitting 'cannabis flower shops' 01 Jul 2025 19:28 The Ministry of Public Health drafts a ministerial regulation to strictly control the criteria for permitting "cannabis flower shops" which must be hospitals, drug stores, herbal shops, and traditional medicine shops. Reporters reported that the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine recently drafted a ministerial regulation on permission to study, research, or export controlled herbs, or sell or process controlled herbs for trade (No. ..) B.E. ...., which is an amendment to the ministerial regulation on permission to study, research, or export controlled herbs, or sell or process controlled herbs for trade B.E. 2559. It is currently open for comments via the website www.law.go.th until July 12, 2025. After that, it will be submitted to the meeting of the Committee for the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medicine Knowledge and submitted to the Minister of Public Health and submitted to the Cabinet for consideration. If the Cabinet accepts the draft, it will be sent to the Minister of Public Health to sign the ministerial regulation. The gist of the draft ministerial regulation for comments from June 28 - July 12, 2025 is that those who wish to apply for a license to export, sell, or process controlled herbs (cannabis) for trade must comply with stricter additional criteria, methods, and conditions, including: 1. The business must be located in a place where the license applicant has ownership or possession rights or has received consent from the owner of that place for a period not less than the period of the license. 2. The establishment must have an effective odor and smoke elimination system to avoid causing annoyance or inconvenience to people in the vicinity. 3. The storage area for controlled herbs (cannabis) must be of an appropriate size, have storage equipment under appropriate temperature and humidity, avoid sunlight, and be sanitary to maintain quality. It must also be stored separately, not mixed with other things, and not in direct contact with the floor. 4. The business must be a hospital under the Hospital Act, a place of sale or a place of herbal products under the Herbal Products Act, a drug store under the Drug Act, or a place of work for traditional doctors under the Thai Traditional Medicine Profession Act, except in places where cultivation takes place. 5. The business must have at least one worker who has been trained by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine at all times during business hours. For those who have already received a license on the date this Ministerial Regulation comes into effect, they can continue to operate until their license expires. If they wish to renew their license, they must comply with this amended Ministerial Regulation. Any action taken under the Ministerial Regulation on Permission to Study, Research, or Export Controlled Herbs, or to Sell or Process Controlled Herbs for Trade B.E. 2559 on the day before this Ministerial Regulation comes into effect must also be taken in accordance with this Ministerial Regulation. Importantly, in cases where a licensee has previously had his license suspended, the licensor may consider not renewing the license. Reporters reported that there are currently approximately 18,000 stores licensed to sell controlled herbs, cannabis buds. By the end of this year, approximately 12,000 stores will have their licenses expire and will need to apply for a new license.
  2. Apparently GACP certification costs hundreds of thousands baht & it takes months to obtain approval. I have been informed by some smaller growers that they will be going underground as certification costs are prohibitive.
  3. Only modern medicine & thai traditional doctors for now. The other 5 professions, ie. pharmacists, dentists, Chinese medicine etc are still preparing guidelines. “For diseases or groups of symptoms, originally 15 symptoms were specified, but now they have been removed because they may overlap with each profession. Each professional group is left to specify symptoms, which must follow the guidelines of their profession. Currently, there are 2 professions that have guidelines: the Medical Council, which has had them for the past 2 years, and the Thai traditional medicine profession. As for the other 5 professions, they are in the process of creating guidelines. If they are not finished, they still cannot be implemented,” said Dr. Somruk. When asked about the case of medical cannabis in modern medicine and Thai traditional medicine, what symptoms are accepted? Dr. Somruk said that if modern medicine doctors who are certified have 4 diseases: epilepsy, nausea and vomiting from cancer treatment, nerve pain, and muscle cramps, for Thai traditional medicine, there will be 8 groups of symptoms, such as nausea and vomiting, headache, loss of appetite, pain from cancer, etc. Only modern medicine & Thai traditional medicine doctors for now. The other 5 professions are still creating guidelines, ie. dentists, pharmacists, Chinese medicine etc. Appears modern medicine doctors can certify 4 diseases as mentioned above & Thai traditional medicine can certify 8 diseases as mentioned above at this stage until the other 5 professions create guidelines. FYI Asked about the current situation, there are concerns about the trading of cannabis prescriptions. Dr. Somruk said that there really should be no fees, but initially there was a discussion that if there is a charge during this period, it should not exceed 50-100 baht because there are rumors that the price will be as high as 500 baht, which is too expensive and would also violate professional ethics.
  4. Published in Royal Gazette yesterday & effective from today.
  5. I am an Australian medical cannabis patient since 2020. Prescriptions come with numerous repeats & are valid for 6 months, can get 4 x prescriptions for different strains & my limit is 60 grams per month. For prescriptions a 5 minute telephone consultation with a nurse is required followed up by a 1 minute call from the doctor to confirm everything before issuing the prescriptions. So we are limited to certain strains with prescriptions in Australia, however, in Thailand you can buy any strain you like once you obtain a prescription. Some Thai dispensaries have mentioned that you will only be able to buy their strains when prescribed by their doctor.

  8. Yes. But not all doctors may want to sign them yet so may have to ask around. There was a limit of 30 grams per month but I have not seen it mentioned on the new notice. I don't know how they will enforce the 30 grams per month. There is no serial number on the prescriptions & no central database of prescriptions. If each dispensary has their own doctor then each can prescribe 30 grams.

Smoking is strictly prohibited. Sales to the public or patients must be accompanied by a prescription from a specified professional. If there is none, sales are strictly prohibited. Stores must keep the prescription as evidence for the department to inspect every month. Patients should make a copy as evidence if a large amount of cannabis is found. However, in the middle of this month until the end of the month, the department will open training for modern medicine and Thai medicine doctors to provide knowledge on this issue. Currently, there are 9,000 people who have been trained since the beginning, but this time, there will be an update again,” said Dr. Somruek.

  11. Apparently dispensary owners have been advised by officials that they have to follow new prescription regulations if they want to continue operating. In my area all the dispensaries (about 7) have been closed since the first announcement last week.
  12. Monday, 30 June 2025 - 16:21 Update! 'Cannabis' prescription cuts 15 symptom groups. Latest 2 professions issue guidelines. Waiting for announcement in the Royal Gazette. The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine plans to issue a department announcement to create a 'herbal and cannabis prescription', Por Tor 33. The latest is waiting for an announcement in the Royal Gazette to cut out 15 symptoms because it overlaps with many professions. The latest is that there are guidelines for 2 professions from the Medical Council and Thai traditional medicine that can be used immediately. As for the other 5 professions, they have to wait. At the same time, they are preparing to train more than 9,000 Thai traditional and modern medicine doctors to add more information on prescriptions. After the Royal Gazette published the Ministry of Public Health’s announcement on Controlled Herbs (Cannabis) B.E. 2568, which stipulates the control of the use of “Cannabis Flower” as a controlled herb that emphasizes medical benefits only and distribution must be permitted. Importantly, distribution to users must comply with the regulations and have a prescription for herbal medicine from the specified profession only, which has been effective since June 26, 2568. Most recently, the department has prepared a prescription form for 7 professions in 15 symptom groups, but there were some cuts for amendment. The latest on June 30, Dr. Somruk Chungsaman, Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, said about the prescription for controlled herbs (cannabis) for 7 professions that there are currently adjustments in line with the guidelines of the related professions. The form of the medical prescription will be in accordance with the announcement of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine on the determination of the form according to the announcement of the Ministry of Public Health on controlled herbs (cannabis) B.E. 2568, which he, as Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, has signed today (June 30, 68). It is expected to be announced in the Royal Gazette soon. The announcement has a form for a prescription for controlled herbs (cannabis) called Form Por.Tor.33, which clearly specifies the name and surname of the guarantor, who must be in one of the 7 specified professions: medicine, Thai traditional medicine, applied Thai traditional medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, practitioners of Chinese medicine, and folk medicine. The license number must be filled in every time. The examination and treatment must specify the details of the patient who is being examined: name, surname, age, nationality, ID card number, and the disease or symptoms must be in accordance with the diagnosis profession. The number of doses of cannabis used must not exceed 30 days. Somruk. The director-general of the department also said that currently, the operation of the store can be done in groups of 2 professions: to be able to sell, there must be a prescription from 2 professions, which is considered a large group. It can be done immediately because it covers both Thai traditional medicine and modern medicine. But 5 professions still cannot do it until there is a guideline. “Basically, cannabis shops must be permitted to open, which must be in accordance with medical practices. Currently, there are 9,000 people who have been trained since the beginning, but this time, there will be an update again,” said Dr. Somruek. When asked whether in the future shops will need to have a professional in the shop or will have to be converted to a clinic or a hospital in the future, Dr. Somruk said yes, in the future they will have to be a clinic or a hospital. The shops that need to register or renew their registration, which by the end of this year, there will be 12,000 shops out of 18,000 whose licenses will expire and will have to renew. There will be a new ministerial regulation that will require a professional. In short, shops will have to be converted to a clinic or a hospital in the future. “Therefore, within this year, shops will gradually adjust their formats until there are no more cannabis shops without professionals. Then, the use of cannabis for medical purposes will be complete. In this regard, a ministerial regulation must be drafted regarding the request for permission, which is currently being processed. This ministerial regulation will be under the Act on the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medical Knowledge. Currently, a public hearing is underway, which will be due on July 12. After that, the committee for the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medical Knowledge will meet and submit it to the Minister of Public Health and then to the Cabinet. Asked about the current situation, there are concerns about the trading of cannabis prescriptions. Dr. Somruk said that there really should be no fees, but initially there was a discussion that if there is a charge during this period, it should not exceed 50-100 baht because there are rumors that the price will be as high as 500 baht, which is too expensive and would also violate professional ethics.

  16. Appears it's all over. Royal Gazette yesterday. These regulations are set to be enforced immediately after publication in the Royal Gazette, marking a significant shift in the management of cannabis sales and use in the country.
  17. November 11, 2025 apparently is the day. Cannabis or marijuana again going underground on November 11 2025 after minister’s order on Monday June 25, 2025 at 1:44 am by Joseph O' Connor in Crime, Culture, Living, Media, Politics, Thailand Tweet Share Share Thailand’s cannabis free-for-all is over. Minister Somsak signs a sweeping crackdown, shutting down most of 18,000 weed shops. From Nov 11, 2025, only prescription use is legal. Recreational cannabis goes underground as reclassification as a narcotic also looms. Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin has slammed the brakes on Thailand’s cannabis free-for-all. On Monday, he signed off on sweeping new rules that will gut the country’s booming weed industry and shut down the vast majority of its 18,000 cannabis outlets. The crackdown isn’t just regulatory—it’s a death sentence for recreational use. New controls take effect on November 11, 2025. But the hammer is already falling. Somsak is going further, fast-tracking cannabis back onto the Schedule 5 narcotics list. That means police will soon have full authority to arrest, prosecute and jail anyone caught with weed outside strict medical channels. Cannabis is headed back underground. No more open sales. No more smoke shops. From now on, it’s prescription-only—or it’s a crime. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2025/06/25/cannabis-or-marijuana-again-going-underground-on-november-11-2025-after-ministers-order-signed-monday/

  19. Top buds selling for great prices at www.moonlight420.com https://moonlight420.com/all-products/ Have tried the Sappire OG, Mind Flayer & 91 Octane. Sapphire OG Mind Flayer 91 Octane FYI - something interesting happened during my flight with Air Asia from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok the other day. After 20 minutes from checking in my bag with bong & a few bags of ganja inside, Air Asia called me to go downstairs to go through my bag as they detected something. No it was not the ganja which I wasn't concerned about anyway but one of those electronic mosquito zappers. I asked them why it was a security risk when it was in checked baggage & they mentioned it interfered with the plane. Anyway I checked out other airlines & they also don't allow electronic mosquito zappers. They didn't care about the ganja or the bong & were probably thinking "look at this hardcore stoner farang". They didn't even want my new electronic mosquito racket so I gave it to a Nokair girl.
