  1. they dont need Thailand except to complete the Vientiane link the Chinese put out many avenues to see what came to fruition the Malay east coast rail line agreed by najib stalled by dr m until he renegotiated a better deal with the Chinese knocking off over a third of the agreed price thats how much they wanted that line completed Thailand played hardball somehow got greedy so unlike them they failed 11 m tourists a year no longer belt road will take it through Malaysia through their ports thats the land bridge the sungai kolok rail line could be upgraded but this road bridge is a non starter buyer beware look at sri lanka
  2. Minor Update DrJack54 I know that you are well versed in all visa issues and not sure if this is indeed a new thing Neighbor checked with van organiser / border run he was told TM30 was indeed requisite not sure if maybe its a mistake but he already has a TM30 printed out to take on SUNDAY Much like say four years ago when they really tightened up on visa hops the van booking agent studied your passport to say if they thought you would be allowed a border run. These drivers/agents do it all the time they know more than us sometimes. I will update the thread as to whether he required it at the border, although we are assuming its a exit / entry thing they are saying because you are basically out in they are thinking you are returning to same address at least that is how i understand it so we await updated news.
  3. I think that might have been BritManToo emptying the shelves of teabags when they were in stock
  4. Rolling into both Thailand & Malaysia to see the demise of Tesco a few years now granted was such a disappointment I know many on this forum particularly like Tesco own brand Teabags myself included In Malaysia I liked to buy their own brand Guatemalan Coffee a great coffee with fruity after notes not available in Thailand I don't think but even then Thailand missed out on bringing in more local coffee produce to its Thai shelves. They had quite a few good own label items LOTUS on the other hand has not a lot of things like that to offer, I find the choice deeply diminished to its previous owner. Sad to see they sold out.
  5. I really wanted to add an edit into my post but cannot so For Immigration to request a tm30 seems a redundancy Perhaps their data base design is deeply flawed You see databases work in fields name number d.o.b that type of thing so if i pop into Immigration for any reason they pop my name passport number into their system and all my details should appear my entry into the country where i am staying have i moved have i been registered at more than one pace indeed an entire history of my entry and where i have been and where i should be at that point in time. The system was designed to track More than not its perhaps not a great system many government databases are never what they should be and i am not singling out Thailand many western nations also Except I think the USA where they now dont even stamp your passport except on initial entry border jumps while your ESTA is valid will not see another stamp No EXIT stamp either the Immigration in USA is tied into passenger data from all airlines leaving USA. To ask for a TM30 or even a receipt is now a redundancy in the Thai system.
  6. I think you will find the 'spurious' was not I or maybe a reread will allow you a better understanding apologies if English is not your first language.. Again let me explain OP asked about a brick, a laptop no better than a doorstop Dead NO power Useless Suggestions; Install Linux on a non powering laptop I know Linux is good but i was in the dark about these mystical powers. Upgrade to SSD or more Memory ... Run a Utility on a dead non powering laptop Those are the thoughts I will leave you to ponder on Obviously I am not as skilled as many who can practice such dark arts of resurrection. I can only hope to learn
  7. Thankyou both Ive not been back since covid so pre covid they were making the move to online registration as everyone had a phone so no excuses but the usual was each ghouse hotel filled in the relevant numbers of tm6 and name passport num stuck it in the postbox outside for immigration to come along and collect so now that tm30 is done online by all ghouses hotels. So I do know it is the owners responsibility to register all guests I just find it unusual to actually have to bring along a physical form when its only tourist visa, so that is a during covid or post covid adjustment to the system BUT to be asked for a TM30 by bus operator to border seems like its wrong because you are leaving the country and re-entering. Maybe a new thing for you guys to check up on because its a re entry It is possible if Immigration want to give you a hard time on Entry to insist to see a booking of hotel and return or onward flight leg. Done plenty of border hops and extensions to either 60 day visa or 30 day exempt never asked for TM30 once or twice receipt from Ghouse 1900 baht a few funny sized photos only available at your nearest IO and photocopy also situated at your friendly IO job done Again thanks for the update requirements
  8. SO my neighbor in the guesthouse was telling me about his recent visit to CM IO He was on a 60 day tourist visa and was asked for a TM30 to get a 30 day extension. Is this a new thing in the past a receipt of accommodation was enough, some have suggested IO's even ask for a key but as many pointed out most guest house and hotel do not label their keys anymore as security, so its just a random set of keys in the street if someone finds them. Now he is going for a visa run and the bus company is saying he must bring a TM30 for that also he is just doing an IN and OUT to get a 30 day visa waiver on arrival I may also do a 30 day extension in CM to my 30 day VOA but it seems strange that Immigration may be asking for TM30's Did he just get unlucky and get a IO who did not know the difference between certain parts of his anatomy? Am I going to have to aske GH for a TM30 instead of just my usual receipt of accommodation. Is this the Thai kneejerk to doing away with their valued TM6 Arrival/Dep card? Thanks
  9. i would like to take just the briefest of moment to correct the op those are not confused or bemused members' (please note the proper use of the apostrophe at the end of member's) its more of a just lost for words and disbelief of those who chase emojis or an over indulgence of Thailand's new legal substances nothing inferred of course but i will be wondering if this reply gets any emojis as each individual member will have the conundrum of whether they should now post one in support or equally not that will be the intellectual challenge........
  10. MAI BPEN RAI just see how it plays out its like an early welcome to Thailand
  11. my bad sorry about that yes tm 6 maybe admin should just scrap the post DrJack54
  12. I arrived in CM by flight a few days ago no more TM6 to fill in I just met a couple who have been here 10 days also arrival by flight same. Someone did tell me that land borders are still issuing them not sure if that is correct because dementia may be setting in they seem a bit confused by dates and process these days. Are hotels, guesthouse still obliged to register every guest to Immigration and if so is that all online now. Maybe I missed the news update but tried googling it and there does not appear to be any news there. Any enlightened members more up to date on this topic would like to hear.
