Yes married we live in Australia and want to visit her family for 5 and a half months every year...

Whats best for 5.5 month stay each year to beat the tax hassle if you got 400k in thai bank ??

Want to stay for 5 months next year with my thai wife, to avoid the tax thing, don't need the 12 months as we fly back to Oz. and come again the next winter for 5 again. Would the multi entry do it or another method ??

This has happened before and more survellience and swifter cleanup teams established as a priority, plus increasing penalties which seem to be no deterrent...

There was something in a thread recently that an O visa required insurance with a thai company but as far as I know that has never been the case with a spouse visa..hopefully not because they are not reliable as I found out once before during covid lock down..

Thought they cleaned up pattaya but not, think next crim spot would be phukett caused by the unlimited number of war dodgers & associated dregs with visa allowances..non of this inspires family tourism..what can a 60 year old do against a young trained fighter, must feel like a real hero..

How would it go if my wife, who has a condo unit in her name ( paid by me ) and I did the 12 month marriage visa, how would they do home visits as they could not get in, and who would be witness.. I have had retirement visa in the past but again that 800k baht is not earning interest & could be used...she has a modest house in the country that she gifted to her daughter 2 years ago, but unfortunately her mother & lazy sister live there ,so that's out of contention..

Sadly this is the mentality of dog attacks in thailand..nobody in power has the balls to change this slaughter..

Once again interpretation of any laws or guidelines in thailand will be clouded and therefore open to ridicule and corruption...

But the whole idea is just so complicated that the average thai will not benefit and the public paying for this in the long run will be disadvantaged as the upper middle class will only benefit , if any body at all..

I think it very easy for the police to investigate this matter, so an international incident is not caused, as they have video footage, the car rego. number etc, but they have this theory of not proceeding with investigation because of no official complaint, which is just making the situation worse and puts discredit on the police for no action taken...

why not charge them all 200bht for the pleasure of coming to thailand ...and leave the pentioners exempt from double taxation , as we are the people that keep the economy going , the condo sales , the car sales , the shopping centres , the hospitals , etc. when the tourists are not here...

With the tax laws changing it can only get worse for property, condos,cars , shopping centres etc. Because nobody wants to live or invest in a country with double taxation & laws that continue to change without notice..

This whole tax thing that is evolving will drive every body out of the country...they thought of taxing tourists 200 bht on entry , but then decided against it , whereas that would have worked better than driving LT residents and investors away..
