Hi does anyone know when you do 90 day reporting online & come to printing it out can you download this to a USB stick as I don't have a printer & I just go to the shop up the road to print out documents
-
Give it 48 hours and he will be arrested and fined for not having a WP to do this lol
-
So this is to catch the over stayers, no problem give me the sim and then I will not be going to do my 90 day reporting as there is no point as you already know that I am not over stayed and were I am living
I should save a lot of petrol money, which will cover the cost of the sim

They already do UK prime example.
STOP TALKING SHIT, no they don't they treat them like any other non EU country, can you give me an example of how Thai's are treated different to the rest and please do not say they think that there are all on the game as the same could be said for other countries in Asia who come to the UK
-
Another silly idea to make themselves look useless from the rest of the world, but TIT lol 555, they need to sort out there own house out first before picking on Fanangs, KICK ALL THAIS OUT OF OUR HOME COUNTRIES AND SEND THEM BACK HOME, lets see if your people like that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
It would be so good if all the countries around the world decided enough is enough and treated all the Thai's that come to our countries the same so they treat us here, love to see what the Thais would think and say
-
So does this mean I don't have to do my 90 day reporting as they will know were I am

Thank you, I have only started off and there is a long way to go, I am comparing this to Pattaya as at the moment in time I can only compare the 2 as you have correctly said, there is a lot more to come we are only up to 2002, but I used what I have seen in Pattaya from 2000 to present day for my remarks on how I think Pattaya is for me today
Now now John I hope your not as premature with your better half. Give the man a chance he simply has 2 experiences at this point to compare so the conclusion is yet to be written.I am sorry Jason, but how can you compare living in Pattaya to a village in Issan, Central, south or anywhere else for that matter. It sounds to me what you missed in the village is the bar scene and the girls of Pattaya. If you like to hang out with the western folk and eat Western food and not get into the real life of Thailand ...then why be here? I have lived in Thailand full time for a shade under 10 years. I have lived in Bkk, and other regions for that time and in recent times in a village in Ubon. Get over the treatment of being treated like a king.. you only stayed in the village for 3 days...What do you expect!! you were a novelty to some, then you got bored..after 3 days and go back to Pattaya. In my book Pattaya is an expensive and artificial place to live in Thailand. Try and get a real Issan or Thai dish in Pattaya...its watered down for the foreign palette.
Good luck to you where ever you decide to call home.
Jason, please continue it's a page turner we are waiting.
Maybe you could submit this thesis to Chula or even better someone who actually gives a shit. Stickman perhaps.
I see TV is still the same that's why I don't post on here much, too much crap remarks from people who know it all, if you don't like my tread then go and look at another, but keep silly childish remarks to yourself.
-
Fycks sake.. "not once you sort out everything you hate about it". Grouse sounds magic and please spare us another how much I spend in Thailand thread they've been done to death mate.
Sorry but you will need to read this again when I have finished and then judge me, a lot of people come up here and tell me its boring nothing to do and a waste of time, if they were not with there GF they would not even bothered, which I can understand I have started off negative as this is what I was feeling at the time in 2002 but this will change later on as you will see, still 14 years to go so please do not judge me until you know the facts
Thank you

PART 1 (MY BACKGROUND)
I have been coming to Thailand since Oct 2000, and have done over 35 trips in that time, now I have decided to live in Thailand (Korat) and have been since Nov 2015, this is my experience of life in a village to help any BM's who might follow in my path. It will have a breakdown cost on living and tips for you, this will show later on in different parts as I build up my story
A lot of us have already been up to our GF's/wife's villages for a few days and have mixed feelings of living up here. Is it really that bad ? No if you sort out the problems you hate about it, this helps a lot as you are the one going to live here and this makes it easier for you to enjoy life more here in the village.
So lets start my story, roll back the clock to Oct 2000 my first trip
I used to watch a TV show called Bangkok Bound, I still don't understand why they called it this as it had to do with Pattaya, well after watching this I decided to book my holiday, 10 days at the Dusit hotel & direct flight with BA for only £568 you would not get this offer again lol, This would be my first time outside of Europe on my own so I was very nervous as in those days there were no Pattaya forums you could go to for advice so you were on your own, I still remember my first trip very well like we all do, the heat & smell once you get off the plane & the craziness of Pattaya, lot more then today, Soi 6 is nothing compared to what it used to be like, anyway back to my first trip, I spent most of my time in Nakula, it has changed a lot now, I prefer it in the old days, lot more bars and better looking girls, had a great time and on my return home I booked my next holiday as soon as I got home lol, this time for Xmas, this trip I would meet a girl and years later we would marry, have a family and live in here village, if someone had told me that then I would have laughed at them, now 16 years later I have seen Thailand & my life change(PART 2) MY VIEW ON PATTAYA & MY FIRST VISIT TO THE VILLAGE
Pattaya has changed a lot over the 16 years I have been coming here, for the better or the worse ? about 50/50 I would say, you did not have a restriction on bar closing times before but on the other hand WS has improved more with more clubs and GoGo's, I still avoid this place as I think its a tourist rip off section a bit like going to the West end in London, the bar seen is slowly reducing in Beach & Second Rd, more families are coming here which was unheard of years ago, too many scams and crime on the rise, but Pattaya is still the best place to party and have a good holiday, when I first came I was 30 years old and I was considered young by the girls, now if you are 30 you are not as its being taken over by the club 18-30 crew, Pattaya has got famous over the years with bad press and is slowly ending up like Magaluf, which is a shame as Pattaya was like a like gem which people did not know much about but know it seems everyone knows Pattaya and what it has to offer. I am a British Asian and I would say in the first 5 years I was treated like a king on my holidays now I am treated like I have a disease, due to some cheap Charlie Indians, this makes my holidays to Pattaya less enjoyable now as I have to try twice as hard to get anywhere which I should not have to do, I do come up to Pattaya to visit friends when they come on holiday but its not the same for me anymore that special feeling has gone but I still have fond memories of the place,
I went to visit my wife's village 15 years ago, only stayed for 3 days, like most of you it's not easy and can get boring, but then again was I comparing this to Pattaya ? as that was the only place I had been before in Thailand, I got to admit that I did find the village life quite interesting as I have never seem anything like this before so my first few visits were educational and being the first farang in the village I was treated with a great amount of respect, just like Pattaya the village has changed now and is not the same but not as fast as Pattaya, If someone had asked me to live there then I would have told them to go and take a jump, no way I would live there, who the hell wants to live in a wooden shack, no AC, flies all over you food, cannot understand what people are saying, So What changed ?
TO BE CONTINUED (PART 3) THE BIG 3 MONTH HOLIDAY -
I have just rung the 3bb call center, they are upgrading my package which is 30/3 VDSL to 50/10 VDSL at no extra monthly cost, so people who have not got any upgrade just ring them
-
Hi is this only for people who have fiber as I have adsl from them and on the 30mb/3mb package and still getting the same speed of around 27mb, they seem to be doing a new package for 50/10 for 700. Baht which is cheaper than I currently pay 1284 so I am going to find out if they can upgrade me and drop my monthly cost to 700 baht if they refuse I will just cancel and rejoin them again

Hi thanks for the reply, I will go into a little more detail so hopefully it will help
Arriving on Thailand on the 5th Nov (single non O visa 90 days) and then will extend by 60 days based on seeing the wife, which will take me up to April 2nd 2016, now the kids break up school on the 1st, so I would like to extend the 60 days by a further 7 days and then go to Los for a Multi (year) non O visa based on marriage with the family
-
Hi I was wondering if once I have extended my yearly non o visa by 60 days can this be extended again for a further 7 days as I need to wait to the kids are off school to do my visa run
Cheers
-
Will not be doable as O-Multy based on marriage has to be used no later than the enter by date. It will only be feasible to get a 60 day extension for visiting wife until your last 90 day entry.
That is not correct. Any of the 90 day entries can be extended by 60 days. There is no requirement to wait for the visa to expire.
You can do 90+60 then a new entry and repeat it. Then another one that would give you 15 months total. Or you could skip the last 60 day extesnion and do an entry just before the visa expires and then extend it and get 18 months total.
Hi Ubonjoe
Just read this post and a little confused on how you get 18 months in total, lets say I get a 1 year mulit o visa starting from June 1st
1st June (90 days)
1st Sept (extend 60 days)
1st Nov ( visa run and another 90 days)
1st Feb ( extend 60 days)
1st May (visa run and another 90 days)
1st Aug (extend 60 days)
Visa expires 1st Oct now as it more than 1 year so in total 450 days (15 months)
Or do I do the following
1st June (90 days)
1st Sept (extend 60 days)
1st Nov ( visa run and another 90 days)
1st Feb ( extend 60 days)
1st May (visa run and another 90 days)
31st May (visa run and another 90 days as yearly visa is about to expire)
31st Aug (extend 60 days)
Visa expires 31st Oct now as it more than 1 year so in total 480 days (16 months) -
Jason it is now pushing eighteen months since you opened the thread, when would your ETA be and have you delayed it due to possibly rethinking your budget?
Hi Rott, I have not delayed, when I started the topic I want to see some what answers I would get and if needed to redo my budget, now fast forward 18 months, I have 1 internet business setup with a profit of around 60k (Baht) a month, but I will need to pay for people to look after this in the UK when I am in Thailand so hopefully looking at a steady 30K per month coming in so only need about 10k per month from my savings to take me up to 40k per month which I think will be fine for all of us, as I now need to take less from my savings this will mean I will have around £30k backup fund for any problems and this amount will increase by £4k per year as now I will be using less from my savings to live on.
Just working on my second Internet business which hopefully will bring in enough per month for holidays & going out, so it's looking good, tickets booked to fly one way on November 4th, I will still be keeping a tight budget as I think it is important to set yourself a budget and live within your means otherwise you will end up with problems later on in life so it's best to keep an eye on what you are spending.

Well if you really want to " live cheaply " in Thailand then you can!
I am moving back to one of the Chiang Mai next month and i already have my budget plan worked out....
MONTHLY ACCOUNT :
rent : 1000 Baht ( a small room with bathroom and shower )
Food : 2,500 Baht ( 80 baht a day x 31 = 2,480 )
Water/Elec 200 Baht
Coffee 200 Baht
Extras 100 Baht
Total Cost Per Month = 4,000 Baht per month ( 48,000 Baht per year )
It should be noted viewers that i do NOT drink or smoke and my transport is " Walking " & " Bicycle " Most of the day i will be " out and about " in the glorious sunshine.I do Not have time to watch TV.and Ladies? Yes I only get involved in ladies that actually like to be with me for who i am ( FREE )
God Bless You All Viewers!

These are the kinds of posts that fill the planes with starry-eyed "x-pats" coming to Thailand -- and the overstay detention cells in Bangkok ..
I agree. Nowhere is there anything about insurance.
As we get older, WE WILL have medical emergencies, probably more than one. If the family has one too, you will be expected to at least help. If you are married, you also have to leave enough money for your wife to live on.
However much money you think you will need for retirement, triple it to be on the safe side.
Here in Phuket, I've seen people retire in their fifties, stay 10 years then get wiped out by medical costs, or exchange rates. They are forced to go back to their own country. After being out of the work-force for 10 years and in their sixties, they stand no chance of ever getting a job with good pay, ever again.
Droves of elderly people have had to leave and the ones still here, many of them live very frugal lives. I don't want to live on a knife's edge when I'm elderly.
You can't put a price on peace of mind
This is an Issan forum you cannot compare Phuket to Issan, prices are a major factor here and if these same people lived here they might have not needed to go back home !

OP: Why do you believe that as a foreigner you can obtain Thai government hospital medical insurance, have you already confirmed with hospital admin? Even if you were able to do so it does not cover all medicines that can quickly add up in cost. Also don't imagine wife would want her/children in a public ward in a Thai government hospital. Unless you're really unconcerned about 'quality of care', you and family definitely will not want to be treated at a local government hospital for anything of a serious nature, whether it be accident or illness.
Suggest you rethink the insurance & incidental expenses budget for health related matters.
My Son was born in a government hosipital but we got a priavte room cost was around 6000 Baht for 3 days, I asked Pattaya/Bangkok and they quoted 54,000 Baht, the service we got from the government hospital was very good and there was a nurse outside are room 24/7.
I agree, having researched private vs public. All the western doctors I contacted in Thailand concurred; public most often offer a higher quality of service, particularly in the rural areas. Have been treated 3 times now at the local public, better than service back in the west and current technology. Had a friend with a simple issue in private in KK. Cost him 500,000 baht and was treated horrendously, total lack with duty of care; the bottom line more important. Cost at the local public hospital for the same treatment, 6,000 baht. I am very impressed with our local public hospital
I AM BACK !!!! have to give the tread a bump now for new replies, have to agree with the above, lots of private places now charging too much to the rich farangs as they are silly enough to pay it !

950 baht per month for schooling is pretty miserable. What sort of education are you planning for your children on such a pittance? I really do feel for them.
I would be ashamed to take an very early retirement instead of working, if spending less than $ 30 a month on my kids schooling. And even if you raise it to the double or triple amount.......
I
havealready know the school I want to send my son to and the feedback I got from the farang teachers & Thai parents seem very goodhttp://www.sritani.ac.th/obec/index.php
Cost is 5000 per term for IEP or 2000 for normal
I am not taking early retirement, just not going to work for the first 6 months so I can get my feet on the ground, then I will start to look for work .
You can spend 10 times more per term to get better educaton but in the end of the day it's not the money that will give your child better education it is the child willingness to learn
I certainly hope you don't intend to teach English.
I will just sound like a Thai teacher lol
-
I am still hoping that any new government will pass legislation that daily ambient temperatures are not to exceed 27.5ºC and orders minimum temperatures at night down to 18ºC. then Thailand would be 100% perfect as far as i am concerned.
You have more of chance that Pattaya will offer a free shag day for farangs than the above lol

Does the times include weekends (Saturday ?) so if I come to Nong Khai on Saturday I can still do a quick visa run across the bridge ?
