Mobile Banking Drops Support for iOS 13/Android 9 from Feb 2026
It is harmless fun, I take breaks between writing software on my computer and it is fun to do something simple like making daft comments on this blog.

" .....I have no idea what you are talking about..." That had become very apparent after I had read the first sentence you wrote. 😆 But do and try and learn the simple difference between a scam and the use of a banking app. ps my comments are not to be taken seriously. 👍

Well mine was young when I met her twenty years ago, but to me women are not commodities or sex machines so I do not trade them in for younger models. Yes you did mention multiple young women. Mine too has her own money, she is about to buy her tenth rental house. She had a tour company in Phuket for many years when I met her, set up by herself. Both financially independent of each other but together and share the costs of day to day life. But keep on kidding yourself about younger women thirty years younger, no one believes you though, we are not all dim. "......you got super envious", why, if I wanted one I could also buy one like all the other old farangs with young women, what is special about that? ".......kept harping on about what should be discussed on another thread.", erm you started it. 😆 Oh and the term " another thread" is always used inaccurately, it should be "another topic", a thread can be part of a discussion just as the apps I write are made up of multiple threads all combine to make a single app.

Why would we want to bloat an app, the more people we can sell our apps to the more money we make, people do talk nonsense and repeat other rubbish they have read on social media etc. Before we are allowed to put an app for sale on the App Store it has to pass stringent tests by Apple to make sure the app is energy efficient and not bloated. It is a bit like saying a car manufacturer has made a car light and fast and then adds an extra 200kgs just to slow it down, so funny. 😆

I just checked my bank account, I too and many others could buy a girl 30 years younger than ourselves if we had such an ego to do so. I would have to swallow my pride to do that though and ignore the sniggers of Thais as I walked down the street with a woman the same age as my own children. It is something I would keep secret, not brag about in public. Oh look at me, I bought a young woman. 🙄

Erm no, I was taking the pixx out of a guy who thought mobile banking apps were dangerous to use but could not explain why and was mixing up the use of mobile apps with scams in general. 😆 But funnily enough around the year 2000 I did fly from Germany to the Thailand over a period of six months, once a month for a long weekend, I left on a Thursday and went back on Monday.

You said, "Here we are talking about banking apps and how the younger generation does things, and you had to change the subject..." Erm no I replied directly to you who stated your partners were all thirty years younger in a sort of bragging way. True, I am wrong, I forgot in Thailand young Thai women honestly fancy old farang guys thirty years older than them just for who they are, honest. It is not the same when it comes to them marrying Thai men, as far as I can see as they are of similar ages. It must be the magic of farangs. Don't get me wrong, I am not being resentful or jealous as any of us could do that.

You said "I was being sarcastic back at you !!", but you said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit? What have scams got to do with using a banking mobile phone app? You are confused again. If Somchai etc down the market have knowledge of how to break the security of a banking mobile phone app they would not be flogging stuff in a market, they would have sold the technology to the Russians and be on the beach now thinking of the billions of dollars they will continue to make every year. You had no idea what you are talking about, as I said a scam has nothing to do with individuals using banking apps, it has to be with them getting a scam messages by some other means and them being dim enough or greed enough to fall for it and then deciding to give their money away by passing on information to others or downloading an extra scam app so their money can be stolen. It is like saying all cars should be banned as some people are stupid enough to drive them into a river. For people who have half a brain then there is no risk at all from banking apps. But I am looking forward to my trip back to the UK to fill my plastic bag full of pound notes again, there is no risk at all in doing that ...... well I could lose it I suppose, ..... or I could get mugged, right when is my mobile banking app. 🙂

You could stub your finger on a button for example and end up in A&E at the local hospital. 😆

His other old tech Luddite friend must have told him. 🙂 They are no different to the people who a long time ago warned of the dangers of horses carriages and trains.

You said "Of course there his a small percentage who have loads of money but the vast majority are upto their ears in dept..." There are a lot more wealthy Thais than most farangs realise as they only ever come across the poor ones in their circle of Thai people they know, mostly via a bar. And probably only the poor ones are interested in old farangs anyway, the vast majority of Thais marry Thais. 1700 quid over ten years is bugger all money, I do not think 170 quid a year is worth mentioning. And it is no way a waste of money, a very good time saving tool and I need one in my 'job' anyway while writing iPhone apps. ("Same worldwide)" you said ? Not the people I know in the UK, I don't count a mortgage as being up to their ears in debt as it far better then paying rent for a lifetime, most people make a good profit on buying a house.

"I suppose having partners 30 years my junior helps me to stay in touch with how the younger generation does everything." That approach will also mean you have become a walking ATM as young girls do not go with old blokes unless money is involved.

And not understanding that mobile phone banking apps and the rest are perfectly safe, used in trillions of transactions a year is the lowest form of intelligence. True, some very few transactions go wrong but that is due to the dimness of the users of the banking app, not the app itself. Luckily the dim user will get a refund from the bank for their dimness. I too use cash from an ATM to buy things in shops as it is quicker but I do use banking apps to safely transfer money from the UK, buy online from Lazada and a host of other things. You will be telling me cars should never be used as some fools do not know how to drive them safely. Oops, I am about to buy a new car, that will call for a trip to the UK again to fill up my big plastic bag again with cash. 🤣 Oh and, ".....but you will be laughing out the other side of your face when that big plastic bag goes missing". You think I really use a plastic bag? 😆

Some Thais have money. I was in the Central Shopping Centre in Phuket a few months ago passing the Apple Shop, there was a queue of about 50 people, mostly young, , all local Thais waiting to buy the brand new iPhone which was released, mine cost £1700 in the UK, I do not know the price is here. Not all Thai people are broke, but I think a lot of times farangs never meet those types of people as they do not go to bars, hence they only ever meet the poor ones who are usually from Isaan. When I first came to Thailand in 1987, I met the relatives of my Thai wife, I had never been to Thailand before and though most Thais were rich as her family were rich, the kids had Amex gold cards which were hard to get hold of in those days, a big house with servants etc, so it all depends on who you mix with.

I know what you mean, I have to fly back to the UK every month in order to bring some money from my bank accounts there. I go to the bank with a big plastic bag, have it filled with pound notes, them take it back to Thailand and then take it to the bank and change it into baht and I then hide the baht under my bed. Someone said I could use an app called Wise on my iPhone, press a few buttons and the next day the money would be in my bank account in Thailand. Cost of the transfer is about £8. 'I am not falling for that scam', I say to them in a loud annoyed tone , they then suddenly stop talking to me with a bemused look on their faces, I don't know why? 🤣 I am about to buy a new car, I will mean a trip to the UK again with a very big plastic bag this time.

IOS updates are free, you press a couple of buttons, twiddle your thumbs for two minutes, bang, all done, a monkey could do it. Read the article, it has nothing to do with the banks security, it is to do with the security of the iPhone for example. I too on the iPhone apps I write have stopped support for phones using less than IOS14 due to security. One of my test iPhones is from January 2017 which is nearly nine years old and it can run IOS 15 so even old phones can be used.

Flu Explodes in Thailand: 160K Cases in One Month, Deaths Rise
You wrote "All these lives being saved, yet the world is in the middle of an over population crisis, begs the question why bother" Yep, it was your own reply to my comment on vaccines saving millions of lives, then you went onto talk about recovery from cancer which would have used drugs etc. So does that also mean (your quote) ..."begs the question why bother" applies? Perhaps if you had have studied to a higher level than C.S.E in woodwork you would clearly be able to see where you simply contradict yourself but never seem to realise it, but carry on as you make me laugh. 🤣 You said "You then rather embarrassingly proceed to attempt to big yourself up", no that was a direct reply to your comment on my education etc, I just pointed out a fact. I don't come across fools in day to day life but comments like yours on this blog does make me realised they exist. You said "....most geeks are on the autism spectrum", most people like you are on no spectrum, at all. Software engineering also teaches us structure, logic and procedure, your logic is like that of a five year old.

I can't be bothered with any more sill arguments, you initially said we are vaccinating the world but we are overpopulated and then suddenly reversed your argument. But one thing I can say to one of your comments which was "again for those with learning difficulties (ie you) have no plan, stupid or other wise,......" My best qualification is an MSc from Oxford in Software Engineering, plus thirty years of freelance software engineering experience in Europe and the USA. (I only mentioned this as you made a direct comment to 'learning difficulties'.) And you, probably an 'O' level in woodwork judging by your convoluted nonsensical comments. 😆

Thailand Urged to Reinvent Tourism with Independent Board
I have never seen any danger here in Thailand for tourists, of course you get the odd story but compared to the 30 to 40 million who visit here per year it is no real risk. I have been coming here since 1987 for long holidays, sometimes for six months and I have lived here in Phuket for three years at the moment, I feel much safer here than I did in the USA. Florida, is a real cheap place, I used to fly there once a month for the weekend when I worked in New Jersey for a year, I did not feel particulary safe there with gun owning Cuban gangs on the loose. Florida I saw was full of cheap tourists. I am not sure what terms you are using for class as the terms seem to be used in the USA still but in the UK is not defined in the same way anymore, it is down to education, job type and income nowadays, the words working, middle and the American term Upper Middle class do not apply anymore in the UK. Thailand is interested in attracting well mannered , educated people with money. It seems to be working as far as I can see from my trip around the Central Shopping centre in Phuket and for my trip to Kata, Karon, and other places today. There are never any reports on the tens of millions of tourists who come to Thailand every year, are well behaved, polite, spend well, we only every hear negative stories abut the relatively few tourists who cause a problem. I spoke to a couple today from The Netherlands and they were very polite, just the type of tourist Thailand needs.

And you think the answer is not to save peoples lives by not using vaccines, that sounds stupid to me. Do you have any children, would you like them to die as well which would be the case if we followed your childish plan re no vaccines. The point when someone calls another person a troll as they have no defence and then fling silly insults after having their stupid plan pointed out is extremely childish, and dim. And what has buying insurance got to do with vaccines? Plus why do people fight cancer, they should roll over and die to make more space for others according to your silly overcrowded planet comments. But carry on with the insults if it makes your day. 😆

I see, it was not clear, so we are actually agreeing with each other that Spain is a crap tourist destination due to it being cheap, hence lower level tourists. 👍

It depends who you mix with, I had a Thai restaurant in Chelmsford, England for 22 years, I never worked in it but I did eat there, the tens of thousands of families and couples who came in over the years never mentioned the seedy side as they chose to go to 95% of Thailand which is not seedy, they mentioned the food, culture etc. If I had mixed with the few in comparison who mess with bar girls and even worse the ones who have married one and only mix in similar circles I too would have the same option as they do, I am not dim enough to do that. Take Phuket for example where I live, restaurants and hotels vastly outnumber the relatively few girly bars which have mostly been replaced with restaurants and shops, it all depends what people choose to visit, the relatively small seedy side or the rest of what Thailand has to offer. A persons view of Thailand is based on where they choose to spend their time and is a reflection on them not Thailand. By comparison I worked in Amsterdam for a few months, I did not judge the whole of Holland based on the small sex tourist industry in Amsterdam. Same in Germany and many other places where prostitution is legal.

Spain, quality of tourists? Spain is for the cheap, beer swigging, tattooed, fish and chip eating buffoons, I went there once for two weeks and it was like a nightmare, low class yobs. I sat on a plane once going to Germany to work. Next to me sat a Spanish guy and after half an hour of chatting he asked me if I was really from England, I asked why? He said all the Brits he had seen in Spain were rough, rude, swore in every sentence and spent all day boozing. I told him people like me do not go to Spain, but the yobs do as it is so cheap and nearby, hence you think we are all like that.

No problem, people like you should join a register, then when you have an accident or are ill they can check the register and if you have signed up then they let you die. That would help bring numbers down. I bet you would be the last one to volunteer. 🥱

Thailand Court Revokes Order Allowing Foreign Pilots
A sidestep manoeuvre was definitely used to align the aircraft with the rivers long axis, he knew not to over do it, he levelled the wings just before contact with the water and kept his nose up. The mention of me jumping out was the fact as a teenager I had never been in a plane before and so on this occasion, I got into the Cessna, at 2000 feet I went through the open door and stood on a step outside while holding onto a wing strut and jumped backwards, static line parachute attached to the plane. Total training for that including the classroom was three hours. I did fly the same model of plane years later, but I preferred low winged aircraft such at the Piper Warrior. The lessons I enjoyed most were forced landings where we glide in with the engine at idle and then line up over a field and then power on at about 100 feet, and at 3000 feet over uninhabited land turn the engine to idle and hold the plane straight until we actually stall, you feel the wind buffeting the wings so we then do a slight nose dip, power on, then recover the altitude we had lost. But the favourite were the circuits around the airfield, touch and go, I could have done that all day. I like it when there was a cross wind, rudder in the opposite direction to the wind and turn into the wind with the ailerons. Oh yes, and you are right about the crabbing to the left for a better vision, I forgot that bit. 👍 I have always like aircraft and did some of the software in the UK for the F16 head-up-display-system also for the A10 Warthog.
