Whhaaaaa, yet another uninformed person who thinks AI actually exists or will any time soon, some of us know by using ChatGPT for example it is 99% hype, I use it on a daily basis, it is a very good tool, I have to keep on correcting its mediocre results though. I tell you what, download it to your computer and tell it to design in detail, right down to the code, tell it to design you a banking app, let me know how you get on. 🤣 To give you an insight why I can say such things with some confidence, 35 years plus as a freelance software engineer and a masters degree from Oxford in software engineering. But as far as livelihood goes, I have already made my money, designing apps and such things are just to keep my brain in gear. In fact ask ChatGPT if it has or it is AI and it will tell you it does not.

Before reading the replies I thought to myself I bet there will be lots of negative comments about smart phones just as there seems to be mostly negative and moaning comments about all the other topics replied to on this forum, it is full of miseries it seems. Smart phone. Let me see .... No, I don't think I will bother with the extensive positive list of things as that would be a waste of time. Right that is my fifteen minutes break over, I will go back to the design/programming/testing of my latest iPhone app. Oh, one good thing I will mention, I can work in Thailand and any other place in the word, all I need is a computer and an iPhone, I can work as many or as few hours I like while making lots of money from the sale of the apps, that is good enough for me as a single positive.

That is very true, as far as I am concerned, the serious women in my life wanted to be in a relationship because they want a life to share with someone, companionship, happiness, understanding and all the other things which you seem to know nothing about. I am not saying in the distant past I did not pay for a girl for a weeks holiday as it was just about sex, but I knew what it was all about, but to think that no other type of relationship exists outside of paying for a woman is sad. By your statement which more or less says all women only want money from men is also saying that applies to our sisters, mothers and other women in our family, friends and lives. I know that is not true.

I have no reason to lie, I do not know you nor will I ever know you or anyone else on this site, I am merely balancing the comments by stating not all men need/wish to pay for sex or a relationship. Have you never had a relationship where you are both have an income, a career and are independent financially, both with your own assets where the woman is not some scammer, if not then that is sad, of course there are many women out there who guys might want to hire now and then long term for some fun as it is just a sex thing but that does not replace normal relationships. I remember sitting in a restaurant with four farangs a few years ago, I knew one slightly and the others were his friends, they were telling each other how they had bought their 'girfriend' a house, a car, regularly send money to her family up in some backwater village in Isaan, one said, "you know, the standard way of doing it", I didn't bother to argue as it would have been a waste of time but I never met them again. If you do not know the difference or have never experienced it then that is sad, good luck with your one sided polarised limited view of Thai women, there are many like you is seems, the rest of us avoid you. Ps, we are all very handsome to the type of girl you seem to mix with if we have a few thousand baht in our pocket, maybe that is why you think you are so handsome.

I see, so in your world good looking women and the ability to work and earn a very good living are mutually exclusive. Just because that is your own experience does not mean it is universal, it is in fact your perception of the 'universe'. It could be you are the ugly one and so you have to pay for it. Keep on paying for it as that is what you seem to think is the norm, you live in a different circle to mine it seems.

"......he's talking about paying money for a girlfriend.....", a very strange attitude, paying money for a girlfriend? that means buying/hiring one, is that what some guys think a girlfriend is, a woman you buy? I wonder what century we are living in, are we in a situation where women work, have their own businesses, are professionals, can take care of their own expenses? I think it is funny how you seem to have different tiers for gold diggers, a gold digger is a gold digger, often known by other words. That has been my experience so far in this old life of mine, I don't remember having to pay a subscription in order to get a girlfriend or partner. No doubt someone will say I paid for dinner etc for women and that is a sort of way to hire a woman, but what about when they pay for dinner, does that mean they are then hiring us? My experience so far of having girlfriends or partners is we both work, pool the money and pay from that on an equal basis, I think that is how the world works, even in Thailand it seems to me as the vast majority of Thais I know do that. Maybe I am not into the farang/Thai old-bloke/young girl scene and know nothing of it, but I have heard and seen it from a distance, I prefer to keep it that way.

How does this work out financially? If a guy pays 30k baht a month is that much cheaper than hiring a woman for maybe three times a week for sex? I suppose there are pros (pun not intended) and cons, with a monthly subscription you at least know what your are getting and the woman (or girl) is safe, with a new one each time there must be risks but at least you get variety. But I suppose if a guy is 20+ years older than the girl then they have to pay for it as lets be honest, no where in the world would a girl be interested in an old bloke for sex. But for some reason in Thailand many farangs believe otherwise. I do find it funny when I see the situation though where an old bloke is strutting down the street with a young woman, they seem to think we do not know what is going on and do not seem to realise we could all do it.

Thank god we do have the police, lawyers, judges and the rest as it would all be a real mess if we were all convicted by social media. People who spend time on blogs such as this are impartial, that is funny.

That is fair as after all many Thai women over the decades have had a lot of 'farangness" inside them. 😃

It just further evidence to support my outlook and attitude towards Thailand. Thailand is great, I love it, I have been coming here for 30+ years on long holidays and have lived in Phuket for 2.5 years now (3 months holiday in England at the moment). But as we can never be resident here or fully retire here we should keep all of our major assets in our own country, and our money, only bring what we need here to live on. My Thai partner owns the house we live in as she bought it from her tour business income, we balance out our expenses between us. I keep a few thousand pounds in cash, and access to £50k instant money in case I ever need to "do a runner", we are after all temporary guests here on our temporary annual visa extensions, with no rights at all it seems when it comes to the crunch. He was found not guilty during the first court case it seems, but on appeal they found him guilty despite all of the evidence in his favour, hence time to do a runner. I see a lot of hatred towards him by many farangs is due to the fact he may have a lot of money and so the 'green eyed monsters' are out and about every chance they can get. Good luck to him, I hope it turns out well for him in the long run.

It could have been the other way around. For example many years ago I was at a bar with some friends having a beer, a girl at the bar started talking to me, so I obliged and chatted back. After ten minutes she said she was sad as her boyfriend had left to go back to his country and she missed him, she went on about it. Half an hour later she said, "I go with you', I said what about the boyfriend, she said, "I like you better, you are good man". I thought, well that did not take long, I did a runner ten minutes later, well we (the lads) decided to move onto another venue. Poor girl, she must have been very sad, well until the next punter came along. 😃

No, I think @save the frogs has 'got' many of you on this forum. He is having a laugh and many people are falling for it. 🤣 Many years ago when internet cafes were around I was sending emails in one in Patong Phuket. On the computer next to me, two very good looking girls were sending emails to Tom, Dick and Harry, to one, "I love your Terry I can not wait see you soon", "Gunther we had good time, come back see me, I love you, I wait", I know the contents as they were speaking Thai to each other, then came the English which they said to each other when they had decided what to write. By coincidence one of the girl's phone rang, it was WhatsHisName from some country or other, he will be arriving next week, "Ok I see you next week, I love you, send me flight, I pick you up airport". I had to laugh out loud, the girls looked at me and I smiled at them, they smiled back knowing I knew what they were doing, no embarrassment whatsoever on their part. Now I am not one of those who think all Thai women are bad, in fact it is quite the opposite as far as I am concerned, but I have met many farangs who think negatively of Thai women as their experience of Thai women is due to the fact they have met them is some 'sexy massage place' (not to be confused with Traditional Thai Massage, use by couples etc), or met them in bars etc. But I suppose the guys get their money's worth, they think they have helped some 'girl' to stay away from other (bad) guys and are a sort of girlfriend, it gives them a feeling of pleasure and belonging as they work a year in order to save up enough for their next trips so I suppose everyone is a winner in this situation. 😄 And so while many such girls have all that in place they are still coming out with sob stories in order to grab yet other guys to put on the sponsors list, they are very hard working it seem though. 🤣

Not at all true with Phuket immigration. I have done three visa extension using exactly the methods I stated in my comment, I did add the fact it was Phuket immigration to my comment so in fact my comment is totally factual. The proof is/was in the pudding. The problem with such forums as this is people can pass on info to others with are not factual, there are no factual checks on what is written.

I suppose for the farangs who could subsequently get a 99% year lease, it may introduce a lot more danger to their lives. It seems there are a vast number of farangs whole marry Thai women a lot younger than themselves, in many cases for the women it seem the aim is to be married for a few years, let the old farang die off and then take all his assets. If a farang was able to extend his 30 year lease to a 99 year least there might be a lot more fatal "accidents' happening to the farangs who have such properties, now that would be funny. I am quite happy with a year by year 'old bloke' visa extension, put 800k baht in a Thai bank, if things look like they are turning sour in Thailand then spend the 800k and sod off somewhere else, after all we visa extenders are only here on temporary year by year extensions, there are no guarantees.

I am not sure what the OP will do but It is all very easy and straightforward to deal with one way or the other. Move money as described above. Print all of the bank statements for the year from your bank account to your printer at home for free. Scan and copy all of the bank book print outs for the year. (ATM printout). I nip around the corner to my local bank and get a letter from them which takes five minutes. 100 baht. Off to the immigration in Phuket and "Bobs Your Uncle" as we Brits say, all done in an hour, go back the next day to pickup the passport. If we also want a multiple re-entry permit at the same time then hand all the forms over as well at the same time as applying for the visa extension, (with a 'secret' little extra 700 baht service charge), pick up the passport the next day with the visa extension and the re entry visa.(Phuket immigration).

True, for the previous two years the month of May were horrible in Phuket, too hot and little rain. I have been in England for the last two months so the news that there is a lot more rain in Phuket this year is great, lets hope the reservoirs are full again in Phuket next month after I return from my holiday. 👍 But I will be looking forward to some heat again as it is only 21c in the South of the UK at the moment, I have to wear a jacket when out.

I use Bangkok bank but the question is about more than one bank transfer at a time. I do multiple transfers during the year depending on how much I am spending. I make sure there is 800k in the Thai bank two months before I go to the immigration office. It then has to be in the bank for three months I then make sure there is a minimum of 400k in the bank for all the other months. Two months before the next visa extension I top up to 800k again, plus my normal living expenses for my own use. So basically two months before 800k and keep it at or above that amount until three months after you applied for the visa and then keep it above 400k, then top it up as many times as you like during the year. I use WISE for all transfers.

All I can say is I met a young financially independent woman, she already had her own house(s), money, income, business, I was in the same situation and was young at the time too. She is now much older so am I, no drama involved or any of the stores as above or what I have been told by some farangs. We are the same as most farangs I know with Thai women, ordinary with normal day to day lives. News like that does not carry, it is not newsworthy so is never heard of in the press, only the doom and gloom stories where farangs are ripped off are reported. So when I am told "You know what Thai women are like, they cheat and steal etc, ", by a certain type of farang, I tell them no I don't, I tell them to try and meet a Thai woman who does not work in a bar or such type of job. They then tell me I know nothing of Thailand, I say I know nothing of your version of Thailand.

It is norm for a certain type of farang. They are not forced to roll a dice. Well I suppose they are now that I think about it, I mean cars are not free and have to be paid for, so I suppose that type of girl has to be paid for. In the case of a car it can break down in the first month or so with no refund and a woman can "run off" with the house. What I can't understand is if they want a young woman then why marry them and pay for them long term, they could get a young one every night and they never get old.
