  1. You will have upset the anti Thailand cabal with that comment, you have said something which does not align with the moaning Thai bashing club. Imagine tourists who have spend thousand of pounds on a Thai holiday worrying about the cost of the 300 baht on their costs. It might mean after they have got back home to the UK (or example) and wish to buy a fish and chip supper they will now not be able to afford to include the chips. I my opinion they will not even blink an eye over the paltry sum of money. I have a two sons visiting Phuket in January next year with their families, I will ask them after they arrive if the 300 baht will put them off coming again, they will probably develop a worried look and ask me if I am OK I bet, they might think it is the onset of Alzheimer's 😄 They will have already paid hundreds of pounds per person in departure tax from a UK airport, I think an extra few shillings will not put them off.
  2. You can also not see when someone is taking the pixx, he was obviously joking.😄
  3. He did a quick survey of his mates. The only one or two people I have ever come across who do not have phones are the conspiracy nutters who think governments are following our every move in order to keep track of us all.😄 Or the very, very old who find this tech alien to them which is understandable.
  4. Great. Re my cave. In the three bed detached house across the street (in Phuket) houses a German guy and his family, most of the other 350 houses are owned by Thais so which house do you live in? The private gated area incudes banks, pharmacies, 7/11's and fifty other shops, nice and convenient. The house next door had just been sold for 6.5 million baht, so maybe you will be the new neighbour? If so you can teach me your fire making technique. The good thing about Phuket is houses are dirt cheap compared to England, the same house would cost about 24million baht in a nice seaside town in Southern England. My cave in Phuket is great. But due to the money floating around in Phuket there are some fantastic dream houses well and truly out of most peoples league and well above mine costing around 600 million baht. https://www.phuket.net/property/blog/10-expensive-homes-sale-phuket/
  5. P.s. Time to sign off now as it is beerOclock. More friendly banter the next time.
  6. Thanks, a good idea, I will do that tomorrow. 👍 The £2000 cash is to get me out of Thailand should visa rules suddenly changed due to a government takeover or whatever, it may be over the top thinking but it is better to be safe than sorry, so I think I will top it up to 3k just in case.
  7. Such glitches are rare and are normally fixed quickly. Plus we should never rely on one form of payment, I have a few debit cards, credit cards, ATM cards, bank apps from different banks just in case. Plus £2000 in cash at home, it has been in my bag for three years and I have never had to use any of it while in Thailand.
  8. No problem and most of my comments should not be taken seriously.👍 But should we stop using cars as the one we are in might break down so stay away from all of them so we will be safe?
  9. The more realistic report should have been : Some businesses and people are choosing to avoid smart phone payments and banking for fear of frozen accounts, but that has been limited to greenking and his mates. The tens of millions of other daily users have disregarded the article as attention grabbing nonsense and have carried on using their iPhones. I can imagine someone going into a shop and buying something for 30,000 baht. "Cash only", says the business owner "else sod off." Customer: "Why would I be dim enough to carry 30,000 baht with me when I could be mugged, I would rather use my encrypted smartphone, I will go next door to buy from a guy who does not wish to cut his own throat. " The report continues: The 50+ million bank account users who's accounts were not frozen are very happy with the system as are billions of others around the world. I am surprised at what people believed when reading obvious rubbish. 😀 When I wish to get 500k baht from my English bank account do i have to get fly there and back to get a bag full of cash to bring back?
  10. If you have seen any of my threads I do start off by stating my story and my relationship with my Thai partner and state it is not a cash relationship. Some individuals then reply and state we are in denial or lying so I reply and say they are wrong, they only have that experience of women. But it gets to a point where it is a waste of time so I stop with that individual and let them get on with it as their mind is fixed.
  11. It works for both of them it seems as she can sell the house if it all goes sour.
  12. No I never did buy property in Thailand as I can not own one unless it is a crap condo, even after my forty years of visiting and a few years now of living here. My partner of 25 years already had a few properties when I ment her and now has a few more, all her money. We split our costs of living as we both have money. The dating app or bar girl scenario would never have happened to me as I met women in a standard way, socially, through friends and family. But I do not mind other guys paying for girls etc as both parties get what they want, what I do argue with them about is they paint all women with the same negative money grabbing brush because they are the only type of women they have been with. It is a disrespect to the 99% of Thai women who work would never do a job in a bar etc and do not pretend they have no alternative to the gullible farangs who believe their sob stories, there are plenty of other jobs out there which the majority of Thai women do.
  13. The American land of the free is even stronger with it having been driven into you from a young age. I think most Americans do not even know where Russia is even though it is just a couple of miles from the USA. 😄
  14. My 'argument' with some of the guys is because they are judgemental and stereotype women as all being the same in a negative way. It is a positive thing to point those type of people out.
  15. They are stating they are not paying for everything and not paying the woman to be with them, that is the difference. They are not paying for the girls family and the sick buffalo in order for the woman to stay with them.
  16. Well we have all sorts of relationships with women during our lives. When I was young and good looking, I had no problem finding girl friends, I had a reputation for it. Women are human too and also like to party when young, so sometimes sex on the same night after meeting at a party etc was a two way thing with no strings attached. Then at some point you meet a woman, sometimes by chance, or you are introduced by friends, where feelings are different and you want to see where things go. I suppose some guys did not go through that process, they were only with women due to money and so do not have a balance view of women. But it works out of course, the guy gets the paid for sex and the woman gets what she wants, but that is not for me though.
  17. You are right, the politicians in the West are as pure as driven snow, none of them, not even one would ever tell lies or make false promises, only the Russians are capable of that. 😄
  18. If the topic is related to Thailand then there are scores of people waiting to be negative about it on this blog for some reason. I, as have you, never had a problem with the things you stated above, is easy going here. As I said earlier, I just spend over five months back home and found the price of things had really gone up, it reenforced the fact that things are dirt cheap in Thailand which is another positive point. Rental prices for property is very expensive in England so I get a good return on the property I rent out, I spend the money here as it is part of my pension, yet another plus point for being in Thailand, plus it is a great country to be in.
  19. True. If we say we do not pay for women as in hiring them, some guys say we are telling lies or are blind to it, they have to do that in order for them to justify why they are paying girls long time for being with them. What I think is strange is they accuse all women of being like their 'partner', don't they realise they are including their own mother, sisters, aunties etc of therefore being like that too.
  20. I found England to be a lot more expensive than Thailand even Phuket on my five month visit in every respect.
  21. I pull my own teeth out, well that is what it feels like when I am arguing with the missus. 🤣
  22. Yes, anyone can be an ATM, I would keep it quiet though if I was desperate enough to be one.
  23. The reason for the rise is because the number of Chinese tourists are less than previous years. How many times have we been walking down the street and suddenly surrounded by Chineses tourists talking to each other in very loud voices, well shouting at each other really.
  24. They are not less fortunate at all, many choose not to have one as they believe the world is out to get them, to spy on them, to steal their money which became clear recently in a blog about the disappearance of the use of cash, they are just behind the times and stubborn. Lots of them were saying the rest of us who do use smartphones for banking etc are stupid as we do not know the dangers, they make me laugh. They are the ones with no empathy towards we who are up to date with tech. I don't know anyone under 85 who does not know how to use a smart phone.
  25. So you paid for dental work which includes paying for the hotel etc, so it was not free. I arrived back in Thailand earlier this month, it took five minutes to get through immigration. When I got to Phuket from Bangkok on a domestic flight, I got off the plane and at the end of a walkway was a member of Thai Airways holding a paper with my name and she was also calling my name. I followed her and she took me all the way to the international baggage area, a few minutes later my two heavy bags arrived, a guy put them on a trolly for me with a smile and a sawadee clap. I went to the taxi window and was in a taxi within five minutes, very cheap fixed price, (700 baht) the young driver was chatting all the way during the 40 minute drive, we had a laugh. It was terrible, I will never come again. 😄 Be careful of cheap medical work in Turkey, they have been quite a number of documented medial procedure going wrong there, health is more important than saving a few quid.
