Since you (cdnvic) have done such a good job on “Thailand local forums” in the “Topic Title” with “ Images of ……….. A selection from our gallery” section,
would it be possible that other members Kan post their own “links” including my own, since some, like myself has photos from around Thailand, but not on “A selection from our gallery” as you mentioned. (I have a few there BTW, but not many)
i.e. in the “Pets & Vets in Thailand” sections, you could create a section where Members place there “lynx’s” Opps, links, etc…..
http://www.pbase.com/win13/animals_and_insects

http://www.pbase.com/win13/insects_and_animals_

and then in the “Buddhism” as well and then in all the other places that our Members an have interest and Photos of:-

as well as, when non-members see these they may just join in and become a members ?
Just me, thinking out load once again.

What do you think of this idea cdnvic and Members ?

If you change the resolution of the photo to 72dpi before posting it,
it makes it viewable on a screen, but useless for printing or any other
manipulation.
astral, Thank you.
How Kan we do that ? Please tell us.

The "number of downloads" does not seem to indicate actual downloads as such. EVery time someone clicks on a thumbnail to see a larger view, then this increases the download count. So it does mean people are looking at your photos in a larger size; but not necessarily that they are downloading to their PC.
but they did that already to look at the bigger picture, so what stops them from ………
Are you sure about that ?

You have your own site, please take a look at their forum section.
I did and still am.

Aquarium Shooting.
Using No Flash. Advice need.
Now since we have in BKK Siam Ocean World at Siam Paragon, I need some advise on how best to take photos, since it will cost me the entrance fee 450 odd baht.
I took some photo a few years ago in Phuket and then last year with two different models of Olympus cameras.
http://www.pbase.com/win13/aquarium__phuket
Equipment on hand, camera, tripod, remote control, spare battery and cards, enough storage space for say 200 to 250 photos on SHQ. LapTop also available.
Range f2.4 to F8.0, ISO 50 up to 400, Speed 15 seconds to 1/4000th of a second, manual mode plus all the other modes.
Any advise from you all ? would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Storage
I have a couple cards always at hand as I take photos at SHQ 3.5 mb approx. each photo. Then I move the photos to my LapTop or Main Computer and download them. Then, before I delete the photos from my cards, I look at them,
once satisfied that they have downloaded properly I delete them. Then I choose the best ones which I keep and back them up on two more external hard drives, for future reference of re-sizing and posting on the Web.
Hard Drives – Just got myself for Christmas a 60 gig one, just a little bigger than a pack of cigs and just a little bit thicker than a throw-away plastic lighter. Fits nicely into ones pocket and easy to use with Windows XP.

P.S. I do travel BTW. Each and every week.

Happy New Year to One and All.
Sorry, for not being here during the festive season, but needed quality time with the family and friends.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now back to the topic in hand.
Had a look at My Controls and notice that all of my attachment have been downloaded by several members.
I very rarely go into My Controls, but reading something on “ Thailand Forum > Forum Home > General > Forum support desk” made me have a little look see.
Guess what I found, yes, people have downloaded photos that I have attached.
Please, please and please this is a warning to all:-
Do not upload any photo in its Original form taken by yourself ON any site whatsoever as it will be certainly stolen.
Sure I did download 3 or 4 photos and uploaded 2 only, back, to show, one of our member mrbojangles what he could or Kan do with his photos before posting them (
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...pic=51511&st=15
), but I did not real-lies that I did wrong, as I was only trying to help.
What I do is easy, Copy my Original Photo into another sub-directory and then Re-size it and re-compress the photo, that way should someone download it and the try to print it – yes you got the message – total rubbish. However, on the “wwwDotWhatEverDotCom” it looks really Great for them.
I do not have a problem with that, many a person linked my photos without asking me, the ones that did, I said welcome please feel free to use these “As long as you are using them to Promote Thailand”.
So the bottom line is, I Kan switch OFF any or all the links to my WebPage, so no one site that has linked to my page will ever see my photos again except a (X) in that place.
Kan, ThaiVisaDotCom stop these downloads ? so that it stops people for whatever reason stealing/using/borrowing without permission from Your Members Photos attachment?
Just me thinking out load once again

Although you've probably got enough review sites here to be getting on with, I'd just like to also recommend my personal fave camera review site:
Hope this helps,
Dan.

Sure did help me in 1999 and in 2004 with my cameras, and of course good reading and keeping you up-to-dated with the latest bits and pieces.
Thank you “Dan” for this one. Had you not mentioned that site, I would have. IMHO = (In My Honest Opinion) that is one of the best sites that I frequent and were I found my cameras that I have enjoyed and still enjoy today.

BambinA,

Panos are my most very favourite photos to take.
Why, you may well ask this question ?
Reason, very simple.
People Kan actual see the “Whole Picture” on their monitor as opposes to viewing it in “Real Life” by turning their heads around, to get the picture.
And when the photos are joined together come out at least near bad, good or better, then, I am happy.
All of mine are Shooting Handheld Panoramas, once you know how to, then it becomes easier and easier, but you have to practice and practice like I do every time I go on a “Photo Safari” so to speak.
http://www.pbase.com/win13/panoramic_oly_8080
Just a few for you, some good, some bad, and then some ugly. At least I tried and will always try to do better the next time around.
I use Panorama Maker 3.5. BTW

Taking Photograph in Thailand is great fun and with the variety of venues and place to Photograph, sure, but selling them in this market, No, however, selling them outside of Thailand, Yes for sure.

At last with the help of Huski, Tuky and all the other Mods, Plus the Members on "ThaiVisaDotCom." that made it this far, now we Kan see a bigger picture of Thailand.
Scary or not , but then again that is another story !!!! or two

Lets see.

Please, join in, so that we all Kan see Thailand through "your eyes".

Welcome to the best “Forum”
on ThaiVisaDotCom.
Yours truly,

Thank you all

BambinA,
one way to do a panorama which is quite fun is to stand in one position and take several photographs moving the camera from left to right. When you have the photographs printed you can fit them overlapping together on one sheet of card/paper.
An alternative method with digital is that you can buy software that will transform several photographs taken in the manner above to look like one big panorama. In other words the software merges several photographs together to look like one panorama with surprisingly good results.
Hope that helps.
Vulture

Thank you.

You hit this one on the nail.

Four photos in one

There have been quite a few threads in the Computer forum about digital ameras,
what to buy etc.
Perhaps this should be a separate area?
No photos, just technical info and tips.
Would make it easier to find this info later.
Now my life has settled I would be prepared to come back on board and moderate the section.
Astral
I "Kan Not" moderate myself never mind a Sub-forum. I run a business and photos are a side-line for me.
I propose the O.P. as he has time on his hands, see below

and mrbojangles, tuky, Thaicoon Ideas below.
Me, sure, 100% will lend a hand out, but only posts, not being a Mod, well I was one, years ago in my teens, not a Rocker.
Sorry to you all, but I am only on ThaiVisaDotCom from Monday to Wednesday, do have a look when free on the other days.
Will input my bit and pieces anytime on this forum should the need be required.
There are a few members on or looking at this forum who are 1,000 times better or more than I am, as only an amateur trying to bring a new “Visual Life” to this “The Best of the Rest” forum about Thailand.
Yours truly,

Kan Win

P.S. Thank you for your kind words.

This.....Great!
Kan Win, what software do you suggest? Could we use the existing two?

George,
Sure, if we could Post on them like on the Forum.
One was thinking of a Sub-Forum where people could discuss as cdnvic mentioned “Art in general” like Architecture Old and Modern, Art, Museums, Photograph
in General, etc. in Thailand.Keep the two Galleries for sure, as for software I have no idea.
Let’s start with opening a Sub-Forum and work from there and see how it evolves, like the most recent “New forum” about “Pets and Vets”.
Just me thinking out load once again.

Ok guys, I will bring it up with admin. Perhaps a photography forum
in conjunction with the thaivisa.com albums.
However, as a disclaimer I must say that admin are very busy at the moment improving the forum performance, the SMS facility and so forth, so I cannot promise anything in the immediate future. Kan Wait

Stand by.
