  1. If you're all you say you are, just smile and go about your business. If you're less than that, then start swinging and join the crowd.

The only way to contribute to a good society is to be one of the good ones. Already enough out there trying to tear it down and make the rest of us be like them.

Losing face? You're killing me. Do your family and friends KNOW you? That's all that matters. Passer-bys and spectators aren't anything to your life and neither is their judgement of you. You are the man you are and you don't need to occupy your life with trying to prove to people you don't even know that you're what THEY expect or want you to be. You know that.

So far, you're doing so well. Glad to have you on the team. Keep on living the good life.

One should not take this little 'sandpit warrior's' comment's so seriously !!!!! Their are VERY MANY of these little boys out their under the care and supervision of their invading force !!!!

    Inshallah ..............

Put them ALONE Meung Thai soi die u, then wonders cease to amaze me ...............

  2. Ooh thats not good. Was it one of the dive boats?

CAVEAT: That LOADED comment is by NO means meant for the VERY DECENT TOURISTS, of which ONE is sure their ARE VERY, VERY MANY, enjoy yah .....

    NO FURTHER COMMENT

  5. High Waves? I just took the 14.30 had rin queen ferry from koh phangan back to samui and the sea was very calm.
The sea is very calm around Samui today

Does the Gulf of Thailand get high waves? I guess it depends on one's definition of high waves. High waves don't bode well for Bkk's future.

Glad the survivors kept cool heads and could tread water and/or swim. If they were Asian passengers, they'd be less likely to have had a 100% survival rate. Moral to this story: teach your kids to swim.

    Hey man LOVELY response !!!!!

Are you FAMILIAR with RACISM by any chance, even PREJUDICE for that matter. Which if you are not FAMILIAR, DOES play a part of modern Thai (THAILAND) society ............

  6. Dear members

I am about to make representation by email to the Entry Clearance Manager, and Ambassador. Mr Quinton Quayle at the British Embassy, Bangkok.

Im aware of all the main email adresses but interested in sending this representation DIRECT to these two key figures within this establisment. The representation is a plea to review the decision on a recent visa refusal for one of my family members, in the hope that it will be overturned.

    Thank you in advance

  7. This is outrageous, it is well known that the army selflessly protects the Kingdom at great personal cost, there is no way known that the military would be involved in any form of corruption whatsoever.

    You serious?

    :)

If a senior member makes a quote, or statement like that then it must be SERIOUS, and should not be taken literally, thats why they have been knighted with such a title, come on you should know that !!!!!!!

  8. I am going to Lao for my 2x Tourist Visa and I am willing to take 2 others with me (Mazda 4x4, 4door pickup).

I leave from Nakhon Nayok via Saraburi, Lopburri etc so can pick up along the way too. Maybe BKK as well.

Diesel sharing could be arranged or if you are really skint give me a PM anyway.

    JB

    Refreshing !!!!!

How nice to see such a friendly posting like this on TV, something we don't see that often !!! Obviously, their is still some kind hearted people still amongst us out their ........

Have a safe and enjoyable trip buddy

  9. Its much easier to stay in an asian country without leaving a paper trace.

Are you saying the Dutch system and paper trail works a bit better than a similar Thai law that requires foreigners to register their presence within 24 hours of arriving at each new location to the local police as well as the one that requires citizens to register their truthful residence in a blue book? I would have thought these would be practically infallible in tracking people down.

That interpretation of Thai Immigration Law is correct, but like all laws in place worldwide are open to abuse !!! For example their is a large number of overstays in Thailand, normally they don't comply with any immigration laws and if they have to deal with authorities at local level then it is done in a way that is acceptable in Thai / Asian culture.

What I'm simply saying is it is very easy to stay in Thailand undetected, I personally am a legal immigrant but I do have friends in country who are LONG-TERM (fact) overstay, and I'm not talking a couple of months, so detection like anywhere and anything else has it's limits ..........

  10. Has anybody used, or can recommend the services of a in-country TH international shipping company that deals with personal effects. In this case personal items to be shipped from Thailand to United Kingdom.

Having a terrible time trying to resource through normal means, just no information, hence !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you in anticipation.

  11. Just picked-up on the op & threads, I am in-country uk at present.

I don't mind saying I'm a 'grown man' and reduced tears, a very tragic story but eleviated by professionals like Davies Khan, and others. So happy for you ALL that your stepson was able to be with your loved one in her last moments

God Bless, my thought & prayers are with you ALL, free spirit to Meung Thai, safe trip.

  12. I think it's very late in the day for "AOT to suggest arming security guards", to do this in a International Airport environment is not practical whatsoever.

They SHOULD have trained armed police officers like other International Airports, and have factored this into Suvarnabhumi's initial plans, long before it was even built.

Ermmm why is it not practical. When I came back to Thailand through Amsterdam Schiphol airport I noticed that Schiphol is patrolled by many Marechaussee (an army police branch) carrying big guns with their fingers near the trigger. If they can do this at Schiphol why can't they do it at Suvarnabhumi. And these guys are patrolling all of the building both airside and landside.

Armed police have patrolled openly in Heathrow Terminal 3 for more years than I can remember.

I agree with these two quotes, and aware that Schiphol & LHR have trained armed police & military attachments, as with many other International Airports. But since the launch of Suvarnabhumi Airport the security has always been private sector, would you trust these people with firearms, because thats what AOT seems to be suggesting.

  14. I personally think that the security of Thailand's Suvanarbhumi International Airport should have been in place a long time ago, long before this recent incident.

As far as I'm aware I have never seen armed uniformed police officers patrolling this airport, or manning key positions, yeh their MAY be plain clothed armed police officers padding around the terminals but they are no deterrent.

Unlike other International Airports, ie JFK, LHR, DXB.

This Airport is basically protected by private security who's officer's concept is very limited, but no doubt chaired by some former Thai general as these establishments often are ............

It's no wonder worried nations have had their representatives address their concerns direct to the Thai government, no wonder. After all, one of the most modern International Airports in the world was overun by a 'bunch of farmers', the 1st line of defence the private security provider legged it (fact).

  15. Sorry to hijack the OP but I note recently on another post where one of his questions was about translation, TH to UK, and their was some unclear replies. Forgive me if I'm wrong, and please don't quote me but I'm sure I read recently somewhere on VFS that translation is no longer required. Can somebody please clarify.

By, the way, nice one about data loss, suggest it to them once safely in receipt of the visa.

  16. Hi

I'm trying to source a company that supplies packing (cardboard) cartons to store, and ship personal effects from Thailand. If anybody has any good leads it would be extremely appreciated.

Ps This is not in light of the current political situation, this has been planned for some time ...........

  17. My wife and daughter, which is my step-daughter will soon be applying for a 'Settlement' visa (linked) for UK. We have private medical health care here in Thailand and I would like to know if my step-daughter can have FREE NHS vaccines for Europe should she be issued with a (linked) 'Settlement' visa the same as her mother, which will say "no recourse to public funds".

Quite simply, rather than pay privately here in Thailand for her vaccinations for Europe ie MMR, etc, etc, I just wondered if she would be able to get them free on the UK NHS.

    This will help........

Thanx Somtamnication, I am just continuing my research !!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. My wife and daughter, which is my step-daughter will soon be applying for a 'Settlement' visa (linked) for UK. We have private medical health care here in Thailand and I would like to know if my step-daughter "would be entitled" to FREE NHS vaccines for Europe should she be issued with a (linked) 'Settlement' visa the same as her mother, which will clearly state "no recourse to public funds".

Quite simply, rather than pay privately here in Thailand for her vaccinations for Europe ie MMR, etc, etc, I just wondered if she would be able to get them free on the UK NHS.

  19. Yet, more irresponsible responses from a public forum that is has long become a joke in (Thai Viz) SEA. No respect whatsoever for the host country, more interest in impressing colonial views which does not work in this country (fact). No respect for religious values and traditions whatsoever, why the communications authority has not shut this site down Lord only knows ..........

Give me a break you bleeding heart. That's why it's a forum twit. The only way to stay sane in this place is to that we can vent our spleens once in a while.

Listen Pal !!! I sugguset you look at other forums in SEA, no crap or disrespect as posted on this forum. This site should have been closed after the tragic Phuket air disaster, this forum was unregulated and nothing but a disgrace to the foreign community.

So, do your homework before making such a quick, inept response
