  1. Yet, more irresponsible responses from a public forum that is has long become a joke in (Thai Viz) SEA. No respect whatsoever for the host country, more interest in impressing colonial views which does not work in this country (fact). No respect for religious values and traditions whatsoever, why the communications authority has not shut this site down Lord only knows ..........

  2. I too am due to renew 1 year car and motorcycle licence(s) for the five year one.

I have recently heard some conflicting stories which I'm looking for clarrification. Apparently, if you are applying with a Non Imm O Visa they will now only accept SINGLE entry, not the MULTIPLE as previous. Are immigration offices (Nong Khai) issuing 'Alien Residence Certificates', or do you have to get this document from your embassy, or is it possible to go to the Metropolitan Police. If resident up-country can you apply for the licence itself in Bangkok.

And FINALLY, is it worth it ....................

Or, should one just leave 1,000 THB on the counter and see how long it stays there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Thai Viz

I like to visit this forum occassionally as I find it very amusing and good entertainment value. Lets face it, you have it all here .................

Perhaps the communications authority in this country should have a government health warning banner on the 'Thai Viz' homepage !!!!!!

  4. i did not know that any nation would issue a passport to a child who was born in thailand to a thai mother without the child having a thai passport already, certainly the british embassy do not, i know that for a fact.

    Fact

I have four children born in Thailand, their mother is Thai and I am British. The British Embassy in Bangkok on each applicant issued a British Passport without requesting any Thai passports, they only wanted to see the children's birth certificates, and our marriage certificates, a very simple process .............

  5. I have travelled several times from Thailand to United Kingdom with my Son who was born in Thailand, and always carried his personal documents just in case ......

Never had any problems departing Thailand where he exited and entered on his Thai passport, BUT their was one occassion when entering United Kingdom with his British passport one immigration officer looked at his passport because she said he looked nothing (colour) like me. I replied yes he is my son and I have all his personal documents with me in person as proof. The IO decided not to pursue the matter further ....

  6. Must be scary being afraid to show your face ... And I guess that a little trip back to the mother country

    is out of the question.

    Naka.

I didn't think #22 was a appropriate reply to the original poster, who I think was only making a observation.

Slightly off topic and my apologies but I have four western friends who are veteran overstay (you may PM for facts), and they in turn are in regular contact with (network) others, one jokingly told me some time ago that they were seriously considering forming their very own forum ...............

  7. I just did what all of you are discussing.....

Flew out on one passport at the end of a Tourist Visa. Changed passports when landing in Macau. Macau immigration official did some serious head scratching and asked where the exit stamp from Bangkok was (went though every passport page in second passport). He knew we came from Bangkok as our immigration paperwork said Bangkok and the flight number. Once second passport was shown, the guy let a sigh of relief and then just needed to tell him to stamp entry into the second passport. That was it, no more questions, from tourist visa to entry back into LOS.

For the record, I would never cheat, lie (etc) the immigration of any country, and since it is easy to stay in Thailand indifinetely with a tourist visa (on

#7 now), might as well just learn to play by the rules.

This is one of the many reasons why Thai Immigration are now enforcing, and changing the rules with regards to Toursts! You would be extremely foolish to think you can continue abusing the system in this way, they know all the tricks in the trade, its just that they don't have the infastructure or recources to combat it. You are also going to make it more difficult for genuine tourists visiting Thailand, and they will be treated unfairly.

For the record I am long-term expatriate in Thailand and get annoyed when I see rubbish like this posted! If this message upsets some people then I think its about time that we had seperate forums, expatriates, tourists, and overstays, instead of tourists hijacking the forum all the time posting from their armchairs in England and other countries on domestic and current affairs in Thailand that really don't effect them on a daily basis like us genuine expatriates.

  8. This change doesn't really affect me, but it proably will affect some that I know.

I find it a bit sad that so many posters seem to be welcoming the news with glee.

Enjoying the misfortunes of others isn't a particularly endearing quality in people.

    Slightly off-topic !!!!!

Yes, this change does not effect me to but may upset less people if we formed seperate forums in Thailand for expatriates, tourists, and others. Their are a lot of critics posting here who don't actually live here, sat at home reaping the social benefit system in order to pay for their next trip to ThighLand .......

    And that sir is fact

  9. Dear Forum

Forgive me for repeat question but one doe not have time to look through past posts .......

I have a Non Imm O Visa (Multiple entry) on the basis of Marriage, which expires 1 February 2008. I exited Thailand previously and now 'admitted' until 18 February 2008.

Ideally, I need to remain in Thailand until end February 2008. My question is, should I exit just before the 1st of February 2008, or, just before 18 February 2008, and will they stamy my passport / visa admitted for 1 month, or three months?

Apologies in advance for confusion but hope some Visa junke can 'spin me' in the right direction .....

    Kind regards

  10. Dear Scouse

Thank you for the prompt, and informative reply.

We shall endeavour to pursue the 1st option as their are mittigating circumstances which I feel could assist this course of action. And, correct me if I'm wrong but in your reply the fact that my wife decided to return to Thailand was not her fault, but mine, which is true of course.

Kind regards sir, you are the resourceful .....................

  11. Dear Forum

Can anybody advise me as to what application and visa my wife should apply for when reurning to Uk.

She is a Thai national who was living with me in uk and had 'Indefinate Leave to remain'. She decided to leave uk July 2003 as my work took me overseas for long periods and she did not want to stay alone, so has exceeded the two year window where she could have returned as resident.

I have since returned to uk and now settled and working, and obviously would like my wife to join me and remain here. If possible, she also wants to bring her two daughters from a previous relationship that have had full support from me for many years now.

    Kind regards

  12. I refer to post #130 where the postee provides a passenger manifest which I personally believe should not be posted in this way. And, their is no official, or media source attached to this information.
The version on #130 is from The Bangkok Post, LINK, the scanned version of the full Manifest is sourced from a Scandinavian website previously identified in the thread. www.scandasia.com

    Regards

No disrespect to the above two sources of information but one would not consider these as official source, especially in a situation like this. One should look at their reporting lines .........................

Regardless, their is a time and a place for providing this type of information, and a public website and forum is hardly it.

  13. I'm not 100% comfortable on the manifest issue, but a website in Europe published it as well. Given that it is likely that TV, given its search ranking may well be a port of call for individuals looking for information, it's probably best to place it into the public domain.

  14. Land of Sorrow !!!!!!!!!

As stated in a previous post of mine authorities are quite happy for foreigners to sit on their beaches for a couple of weeks, anything after that they are not interested.

And, I understand their already has been a increase in complaints to Human Rights organizations about the forced seperation of families, spouces, and siblings, extremely sad .....................

  15. Sorry to hijack your post but I too would like similar information.

I have a number of motorcycles registerted in my wifes name. Ideally, I would either like to transfer ownership / registration to my name, or my Son. I am a foreign national, my Son is Thai but a infant.

Anybody have any advice, or experiences in this matter please.

    Kind regards

  16. Dear Forum

Just a slight spin on this topic of conversation but what in your opinion, and experience is the best pump available on the market to supply a four bedroom / four bathroom property, then theirs washing machines and other things to consider.

The water source is from the City, and stored below ground in a tank, not sure as to what size is the tank.

    Kind regards
