  1. Every country has a right to decide who they should or should not let in. Australia did it with boat people arriving. They were put in immigration centres awaiting their approval on compassionate and safety reasons to be allowed in. Many of them are now good hard working fellow Australians. Others that failed approval were returned. No returns to countries that politically would have caused them serious harm. In later years detention centres such as in nauru have been used which is far far from ideal Australia is surrounded by sea so it is easier to protect our borders and America is not in this enviable position to safeguard your borders. However, shouldnt each individual be allowed to present a case to stay in America have it assessed by a competent department on grounds to be determined whether they pass the requirements of being law abiding people of good character? The image of ICE rounding and dragging people off the streets, cruelty being reported in detention facilities, children, one i know of being zip tied Is distressing. T
  2. My wife is an aged care worker and like many other migrants loves working weekends because of our award rates. She has done this for almost 18 years. (We have been married for 22 years) Thanks for your reply.
  3. My wife went from AUD $45,000 a year to over $70,000. Most immigrants are mainly awaiting permanent residency, so not illegal. But the point is that very, very few long term Australians want to do this sort of hard work but immigrants do out of necessity.
  4. In my home country of Australia we had over 65,000 people a year leaving aged care worker jobs. The government awarded a massive increase in wages to stem this. In my wifes nursing home and in others i know wage increases did not increase the level of "Australian" workers they dont want to work in this heavy demanding industry my wifes nursing home has about 85% to 90% Immigrant's working as "nursing assistants" mainly indian and nepalese, my wife Thai. Around my city most vegetable farms are owned and run by cambodian people, thank god for them, it is an industry always owned since the 1950's and worked by immigrants, it is very hard work bending over and picking . I see in florida that the aged care homes are in a "catastrophic shortage" as it "heavily relies on immigrant workers" and also poor wages. Fixing the wages wont just be the answer.
  5. She is not dead and is now out of the critical stage, she did not take any vaccine she was tested positive both by pharmacy supplied testing then further testing in the hospital. Furthermore most of the other family members contracted covid from their school kids whom had very mild covid but those elderly were hit harder. If anyone here doesn't want a vaccination jab that is your right but also the right of susceptible people (elderly) to be protected by those with covid to at least wear a mask.
  6. Really? All my wifes family, cousins, aunties, uncles etc spread out in many provinces have Covid with one Auntie in buriram hospitalised and in critical condition.
  7. Yes i have been to South Africa, soweto, Johannesburg etc. you are correct and criticism of you needs addressing. Trump seems to be pissed off at South Africa for political reasons . The below is from the ABC and taken from correspondents in cape town: Both white and Black farmers and even conservative white Afrikaner groups debunked the Trump administration’s “genocide” and land seizure claims that led the U.S. to cut all financial aid to South Africa. Farmers agree that violent crime is a problem for everyone. Latest stats from South Africa "the latest figures show that nearly 10,000 people were murdered in the country between October and December 2024. Of these, a dozen were killed in farm attacks and of the 12, one was a farmer, while five were farm dwellers and four were employees, who are likely to have been black." Trump lies through ommision
  8. Thanks mike, agree with you completely, who else wants to make their neighbour a state of their own country (except russia,) who wants to take over greenland, the panama canal, disregard the judicial system, get rid of people before a court determination etc etc. It sounds very much like the playbook in Germany in the 1930's
  9. In Australia we historically have imported more goods than we have sold to America. So what happened to the free trade agreement America signed up to with us? tariffs, (tax) at the numbers being set for poor SE Asian countries is counter productive in helping them develop.
  10. Thats crazy! Anyone know why The two who assaulted this elderly couple weren't sentenced to time in jail? Their injuries look shocking.
  11. Uyghurs have been in Xinjiang since at least the 9 century. They have not "assimilated" they were there for centuries. A uyghur friend has told me his brother doctor got 10 years jail for praying not in a government sanctioned mosque with an approved imam. That sound like assimilation?
  12. You are correct OneMoreFarang, this 4% approval figure came directly from Trump, people could do some research on the internet which would clarify the information, the latest actual is over 50% and reported in my country as 52%. here are CNN figures reported for clarification WashingtonCNN — Fact check: Trump falsely claims Zelensky has a 4% approval rating. It’s above 50% President Donald Trump’s false declaration Tuesday that Ukraine “started” the Russian war on Ukraine generated the most attention. But Trump also made another wildly inaccurate assertion about Ukraine during those remarks to the media at Mar-a-Lago: a claim that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has a 4% approval rating.
  13. Hello, I sent mine back from Australia 4/12/2024 and have sent Two follow up e-mails requesting that have they received my documentations. NO reply back. I know their server has received my e-mails because I requested a delivery receipt which came back as received from their server but NO read receipt. pretty poor service and I am still left wondering.
  14. I have just discussed this with my accountant here in Australia. She has had to do similar paperwork for the same reason for a client of hers with a bank account in Greece, it is legitimate and I have been told that i must fill in the paperwork as it is an international banking agreement. Firstly if you are NOT an American or have a green card or somehow have an affiliation with tax in any form with America disregard the forms w-9 and w-8BEN, you will see on the original e-mail it states "if applicable". Write across these two requests forms as ALL NOT APPLICABLE when you send your paperwork through as they are just for the American affiliations, just fill out the individual Self-certification. As I obviously cant go to a Thai bank being here in Australia I will have a copy of my passport certified by my Tax agent and e-mail (not Happy with that). i wont be able to send mine till 3rd December so I cant tell you till after then if there has been any setbacks. After following Aseannow members comments (and its predecessor) for the last 15+ years this is my first post.☺️
