LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
During the application phase are you able to message them to explain the documents and/or ask questions? or is everything just uploaded in a PDF? I wanted to explain my Tax form and various bank accounts and wonderif they meet the requirements before I buy insurance.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Thanks.... I may have to wait another year on fulll retirement so they see Social Security and other IRA wirthdrawals. The former are scheduled monthly by the USA Feds but the latter I can control...and not need be monthly but suspect at end of year ALL has to exceed the $80k so to avoid investment in Thai bonds, etc. :)

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Thanks.. that was a typo on my part (meant $100k). Curious, do you know if the $100k be the sum across different accounts, like savings, checking, CD (and across banks)? I also have ~$20k in Bangkok Bank and wonder if I can include that if they allow across accounts to sum to $100k. How did you meet the "passive income" requirement?

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I am looking into the LTR from the USA... I seem to meet all the requirements though need clarification on "passive income" (unsure if just a IRA statment would suffice or need to show withdrawals), and health insurance (seems waived if $10k in a USA bank?)..... but the website info... https://ltr.boi.go.th/index.html seems to indicates that afthe documents are approved one can make an appointment at the Thai Consulate (for me would it be NYC).. but i thought i read there is an e-Visa option to do this? How does that work, if true? e-Visa (LTR) preferable as it may be faster than scheduling an appointment (do not know lead time) and visit the Consulate that is pretty far from me... Thoughts?

Receive PIN in USA while roaming with Thai number?
Never mind. I restarted the phone and used only the 66 (with no 0 next) from my USA number and sent an SMS to my Thai number and it was received. THanks! ----------------------------------- Tmobile unlocked my phone for 30 days. I have WiFi Calling enabled, and the Thai eSim enabled. My primary SIM is my Tmobile (USA) sim. I sent a text to my Thai number using my USA number and my Google voice number and never receive it on my phone..... I tried both 66+0xxxx and without the 0. I wonder why I am nto receiving the SMS? Once I did enable the eSim AIS sent me all sorts of messages about packages for roaming, etc. 🙂

MBA at Assumption U? Semester vs Term?
I got a better explanation in Messenger Chat bu they are referring me to someone... response below. To me it seems then that because you take only 2-3 courses a semester and there are 3, you may end up taking all the coursework over 4-5 semesters (ergo 1.5-2 years). But curious why.... seems a light load... - Semesters vs. Terms Our academic calendar follows 3 semesters per year: May–August September–December January–April The term “Terms” as mentioned in the brochure (4 or 5, depending on thesis or non-thesis option) refers to the number of semesters required to complete the program, not to different course structures. Non-Thesis Track: Typically completed in 4 semesters Thesis Track: May require 5 semesters, including time for research and writing - Duration Although the program runs across 3 semesters per year, the expected completion time is 1.5 to 2 years because: Students generally take 2–3 subjects per semester, depending on workload and availability Some courses may only be offered in specific semesters, requiring thoughtful academic planning The thesis track includes time for proposal development, research, and defense - Flexible Entry Yes, students can start the program in any semester, including September–December, and continue with January–April, then May–August. The program is designed to be flexible and accommodates new intakes each semester. We’d be happy to walk you through the credit plan, course availability, and help create a personalized study timeline.

MBA at Assumption U? Semester vs Term?
I have been emailed Assumption about their MBA program but the responses are very confusing. They seem not to understand my questions. Wonder if anyone has any insights....? They list a Fast Track MBA https://www.grad.au.edu/mba-fast-track It says "1.5-2 years to complete". But the brochure indicates 3 Semesters (May - Aug; Sep-Dec; Jan-Apr). Below that they list Study Plan (4 for Thesis and 5 for non-Thesis). The "Terms" seems to be groupings of courses. I am trying to figure out the difference or relationship between the Semester and Term. It does seem that you can complete the MBA in a 1 year time frame although it spreads over 2 calendar years. I also wonder if you can enter during any semester. The responses from AU are confusing.... i think its a translaton issue...

Receive PIN in USA while roaming with Thai number?
I've been with them since Sprint days. I I got a great trade in allowance but still pay a small amount on my phone for 2 years though I'm on a Go plan where I get a new phone every year free so assume next year when I'm out of the payment plan the eSim would be unlocked. I guess the phone is part of a payment plan and thus not fully owned so locked.

Receive PIN in USA while roaming with Thai number?
My phone is a USA based number and my Thai number is an eSim. T-Mobile locks my eSim and I have to request to unlock it for 30 days. So while in the USA my eSim does not work and will NOT get an SMS unless I turn on roaming. But some of AIS Android app features are NOT working (i.e., Packages) and many complain in the Play Store about it. Apparently they had a recent update and it does not seem to be working with Android 15. I have emailed them about it. If they fix it I can ask T-mobile to temp unlock my eSim, turn it on, buy short term roaming and be able to getthe PIN. I assume, anyway 🙂

Receive PIN in USA while roaming with Thai number?
I am in the USA (T-Mobile phone service) and have a Thai number (eSim), and I just keep a simple plan on the Thai number to maintain it until I get back to Thailand. It is connected to my Bangkok Bank account (app). However I need to move some money from my Thai bank to my USA bank, and it requires a PIN sent to my Thai number (assume SMS). (Also need to make other local transfers.) I am trying to get AIS to fix their Android app as some features are NOT working (i.e., Packages) and many complain in the Play store about it. I wanted to get a short term roaming package so I can then turn on my eSim and get the PIN. But has anyone done this.... used their Thai number (roaming in the USA) and able to get a PIN? It should work - in theory 🙂

Tax on sale (person to person) - new law?
Is there a law that requires the seller to pay the gov a tax on the sale price of a used motorbike to another person? (I had heard there may be a new law but cannot find anything.... and some sellers may request cash payment to avoid this)? (not sure if it matters but this would be a 2021 bike from a Thai to a foriegner...)

Short term medical insurance options (when visiting)?
I am buying a motorcycle to ride for a few weeks on this trip, then store it here and come back later this year. (I live in USA.) I can get full coverage insurance on the bike with medical coverage but wonder if I should just get the basic coverage to save $$ (since it is in storage for many months), and get medical for myself for each trip I take here (then I have it when not on the motobike)? I wonder if anyone had suggestions for decent medical coverage for short term visits (few weeks to few months, and later maybe longer)? I need to be sure it would cover me in a car or motorbike also. I am in good health, no conditions, etc. It may not make any economic sense (?), and maybe best to get medical (short term) and have the medical option on the bike insurance too. Thanks!

Residence certificate with Tourist Visa?
I am in Nonthaburi on a tourist 60 day exemption. Want to buy a motobike and need a residence certificate also. My condo guy will not do a TM30 for short stay (i am hoping to hit the road later o the bike I want to buy), so i need an agent who can do that and get me the residence certificate. I read they can get it in real time but sounds like now you get it mailed to you? Any suggestions on an agent that can get this done? (TM30 ad RC)?

Is the new tax on money transferred into Thailand being implemented?
I have a Bangkok Bank account. I just transferred over a large amount from my USA bank using Wise in late December and notice a Tax line item on my bank statement about a week later for about .3% of the that amount but not sure it's related.

Bangkok universities...MBA program reviews?
My son is thinking about getting his MBA in Bangkok (USA citizen and undergrad degree soon). I've done lots of research and found a few in Bangkok that offer what appears to be decent tri-semester programs for international students in English. However some are part time, and require work experience first. But I would like to chat with anyone that has personal experience or find independent resources that review/rank these universities. I haven't been able to find anything reliable yet. Out list includes: Assumption, Stamford, AIT, NIDA, Chulalongkorn, SIAM, Bangkok U. Some of their websites are lacking information so we await responses to emails. Chulalongkorn has the Sasin school but seems outrageously expensive. Their website implied there is another MBA program there however (but waiting for clarification). We will continue to look for info/videos, etc, online but welcome thoughts and experiences. Thanks.
