    Be careful, once you start to screw up local habits, the tip will soon be 50 Baht and then 100 baht and before you know it, 10 or 15% of the bill with the personnel having to pay tax on the extra income and then we are all screwed. Enjoy Thailand and its good food but keep American culture in America.

    I have enjoyed at least 25 Songkran over the past 40 years, in Pattaya, Phuket or down at Khao San Road, but no more. Too many idiots are screwing up the holidays nowadays. It was never like this before (or I'm getting too old).

    I think people worry too much. I have a 30-year lease, 18 years left. Do I worry? No, I'll most likely be dead by then. If not, I'll sort it out then.

    This is the reason why I have kept a bit over 800,000 Baht in the same Thai bank account since 2017 when I got my O retirement visa. Only use the account for my visa extension every year and have never had any problem. Use an account at another bank for expenses.
