You raise an interesting point, sir... Yes, they ought to enshrine beatings into law, so true justice gets done... I wonder why they don't? Any ideas? I'd also be keen to discuss the severity levels of beatings appropriate to the crime Likesay, if a fraudster gets punched in the face and kicked in the guts a few times, that would be about what he deserves, but a heavy boot to the skull causing medium level concussion - that should probably be reserved for more serious crimes, like rape and assault.

Of course, his cellmates would need to be informed of exactly his crime, so they can deliver the appropriate sentence. Then again, since they all committed crimes, I suppose they are up for beatings of their own as well... so they'd have to take turns beating each other up, which could get pretty complicated.

But it would "serve them right", wouldn't it?

It might be of interest to some members to learn that PayPal have just stopped allowing Personal Payments and Donations being sent to Thailand !!

I have been receiving these for numerous months now (all above board) but they were stopped overnight.

We can still receive payments and funds but they are all now subject to the ridiculous PayPal Fees!!

I have contacted PayPal asking why they done this but have not yet received a reply.

How about also slapping some fines on GMM for denying TrueVisions the re-broadcasting rights although the EURO games are already broadcast on free-to-air TV? I think GMM is just as much to blame for this absurd situation as TrueVisions.

Phew.......... I have spent 4 days thinking that my low score this week had made things really close at the top and I was imagining Mr. B double and treble checking the entire season trying to find a few extra points.

Retirement extension

I have always been curious why someone on an Extension based on Retirement needs to show double the financial requirements of someone on a Marriage Extension.

Surely a Retired person, with a regular monthly income, will not need so much to live on. Often Retired people live alone and do not have to support a wife and children.

Can you explain please?

What is the Thai Law regarding compensation to an individual (foreigner) who was detained at Klong Prem for 14 months. He was found Not Guilty by the Court for the offence that he was detained for, but none the less he was deported for Immigration Infringement (not related to the arrest). He was given a letter as he left I.D.C. that states he can return to Thailand at any time (should he want to!).

Would he be entitled to any compensation for the time spent at Klong Prem?

Life wouldn't be the same without this!!

Since you suspect a virus / trojan / worm which AV software are you using?

Sorry for the late reply, but problem has escalated to not being able to access several sites. TV being one of them - intermittently.

I use McAfee AV. I have spent the last 2 days online with their Tech Support. We have Uninstalled and Reinstalled the package and they have run several diagnostics, but "claim" it is not their problem. Scans that they started showed no virus.

However, I now suspect that it might be my Router causing the problem. If I use the "Reset" button on the box the sites are fine for a few minutes, but as soon as I refresh the pages they revert to the problems described. 3BB are due to visit me tomorrow (we will see LOL).

My neighbour can access the sites (correct versions) but I cannot. The more I think about it the more I am convinced that it is a Router problem.

I will let you know the outcome.

I am turning to you good people for some help. I was delighted with the results from a previous problem a few months ago and could really do with some help again.

First and foremost, let me give you a brief history of my problems.

I own a couple of PTC sites and have been managing them, without any problems, for a few months now. Recently, the host server was under DDos attack (it is located in USA) and during the attack period I was getting a message that read "This Site has been Suspended" which is usually the message displayed when someone has not paid their Bill or exceeded bandwidth. However, while I was seeing this message others (members) were able to access the sites and carry on as normal.

After a few days of suffering this it all just went away - UNTIL yesterday.

At around 16:00 Thai time one of the sites reset all of the click counts, showed a drop in member numbers, fewer payouts and the recently installed Forum had vanished. The other site displayed "Account Suspended" again. (I am happy to provide links for the sites, but do not want to post here as it could be taken as advetising). Once again, members of the sites were able to access as normal.

After going beserk at the Hosting people they told me to:

1. Clear the Cache

2. Run ipconfig/flushdns

3. Reboot router

I did all of these and earlier today everything was back to normal for 10 minutes, and then all went pear shaped yet again.

Furthermore, if I try and click a link in an email the following message has started to appear: "The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact system administrator". This has just started happening today, and is a little bit like the previous problem that I had a few months ago.

Has anyone got any thoughts or ideas about this please. Any help will be appreciated.

I did exactly the same as you about 18 months ago.

I went to the British Embassy (they were still processing Passports then). They gave me a letter to carry at all times, stating that my P/p was in the process of being renewed, due to damage.

On receipt of the new P/p I had to take both old and new to Immigration. They retrieved what information they could from the old one and entered it in a stamped area in the new P/p. e.g. date of arrival, date of extension etc. They then gave a new entry for my cuurent extension. and took 1000Bt for their trouble. If the landing card is that badly damaged they might replace it, but they just stapled mine into the new P/p.

Bottom line is RENEW Passport before going to Immigration and carry the Embassy letter at ALL times until new P/p arrives.

Can anyone help me with enabling Task Manager for Windows XP?

I used it on a regular basis but then a message started to appear saying "Task Manager Disabled by Administrator".

I have absolutely no idea what I did to disable it.

I have tried "Right Clicking" on the task bar at the bottom of the screen, but Task Manager is appearing in Grey and will not respond.

If you enter KKC from Mittraphap Road (Route 2) at Central Plaza you go under 2 Archways. The 2nd one is where the Temple is on the "Roundabout" area. Turn Immediately right after the 2nd Arch and the Firestation will be on your left hand side.

Continue along that road and go past the turning (left) to Pullman Hotel, Kosa etc. and Didine is located on your left, about 50 Mtrs. after the turning.

Were you able to provide a logical source of funds? Do you believe it a foreign job and frequent travel might have been accepted as a reason for using this type of visa?

Not trying to question you but the more information for others the better and if you had a long conversation you might have picked up on what they might have been looking at.

they did ask if i had bank statements of my home country accounts, which i did not have as it was not one of the stated requirements. i am not of retiring age, and do not need to work, so looking back it could be that my age was of disadvantage to me - i guess it is a sin to be relatively young and wealthy - but this did not stop me from obtaining visas in the past. Maybe they wrongly assumed i must be working illegally in Thailand, so my guess is that people of retiring age or are frequent travellers will not have any problems. another strange thing was they actually stuck a multiple entry visa into my passport, but it was not stamped. when they offered me the single entry, they just crossed out the 'M' and wrote 'S' beside it, so i am thinking the boss change his mind at the last minute.

Why do you not apply for a Married Extension at Imigration in Thailand?

well, I can't get any more than 15,000 out in one day from my Uk bank cards. Even with my Thai bank cards I can't get 200,000 out in one day. This doesn't make too much sense.

All you need to do is call the "Call Center" shown on your card, answer a few questions and you can get the limit increased. All of my Thai accounts have 200,000 daily limit.
