Thailand Tightens Mobile Banking to Curb Scams
Someone better let the bank know! Because plenty of people are still using it! 555! Anyway, Let's pretend that is true ... Bangkok Bank is an absolute joy and works perfectly Online Banking and Mobile Application Banking, so you could just use them. The reason I said "let's pretend that is true" --- there have been plenty of changes regarding matching your phone number to the account, the browser and version customers use, the status of your face recognition on file, and other factors that can cause the Online Banking to not work. Perhaps just changing to Bangkok Bank would make your life easier???

Thailand Tightens Mobile Banking to Curb Scams
People do not seem to grasp the difference between the rules and procedures of smart phone based Bank applications, and Online computer based Bank programs. The online bank programs have very good tools to manage and control the size of transfers and payments. People should spend less time in "knee jerk victim based complaining mode" and more time on their Online Bank Programs, learning how to manage limits and transfers.

Laptop with AZERTY keyboard ?
PS --- It is very easy to pop the keys off a "desktop" keyboard and move them around. Sometimes I have to remove a few to clean underneath them ... really, really easy! So, once you "train" the computer to use a different layout, you can make the keys match!

Laptop with AZERTY keyboard ?
(You can buy keyboard stickers online for less than 100 THB. I just bought a great "for sight impaired" LARGE (English) letter stickers for 30 Baht) To switch your keyboard layout to AZERTY, you need to add the AZERTY keyboard to your language settings within your operating system. This typically involves navigating to your system settings, then language and keyboard settings, and adding the desired AZERTY keyboard layout. Once added, you can switch between QWERTY and AZERTY using a keyboard shortcut, usually Ctrl + Shift or Windows Key + Spacebar. Here's a more detailed breakdown: 1. Access Language and Input Settings: Windows: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > Language options. Add a keyboard layout for the desired language (e.g., French for an AZERTY layout). macOS: Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources. Click the "+" button, select the desired language and keyboard layout (e.g., French for AZERTY). 2. Add AZERTY Keyboard Layout: Windows: Under "Keyboards," click "Add a keyboard" and choose the AZERTY layout from the list. macOS: Click the "+" button, select the desired language (e.g., French), and choose the corresponding AZERTY layout. 3. Switch Between Keyboard Layouts: Windows: Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift or Windows Key + Spacebar. macOS: Click the language icon in the menu bar and select the desired keyboard layout. 4. Verify: Open a text editor or any application where you can type. Type "qwerty" and ensure it is now displayed as "azerty" on your screen (or vice versa). By following these steps, you can successfully switch your keyboard layout to AZERTY and utilize the layout for typing in your desired language.

Lived in Thailand longer than any other place in my life!
Perhaps you should zoom out a bit, and realize we are all here on a "temporary visa" and perhaps you should not waste your energy on things you can never change or control. Look at the bright side, we are all winners ... we came into this world naked, and are leaving in a new suit! 555! Have a good day, I am not interested in being your entertainment today.

Lived in Thailand longer than any other place in my life!
As I said I hope this is your biggest problem, because tourism, retirement visas, etc ... are important to Thailand, and there is NO record of any meaningful change in their "retirement visas" ... period. Full stop. I am guessing that there is more to your story, and perhaps YOUR "visa" has issues? How easy do they have to make it. It only has a few moving parts. Keep 800,000 in the bank. Go online and do a report every 90 days. Renew once a year. I mean, for crying out loud ... they send an e mail reminder to do the 90 day report online! Should they come over and make you some soup too?

Lived in Thailand longer than any other place in my life!
But you DO have "some kind of legal residency here" You have a legal visa and if you fulfill the requirements, can stay for the rest of your life. I hope this is your biggest problem, because if it is ... you are "living the dream" !!!

Why stop at 35? At 40 to 1$ it pretty much negates Trump's stupid tariffs, and lights tourism on fire for a record year!- Thailand's Digital Baht Plan Targets Big-Spending Tourists
555! Fair point, now that I took a second look and read more carefully, yeah, 50,000 THB / MONTH is not exactly "the crime of the century"- Thailand’s Tourism Confidence Dips Amid Economic Challenges
Agreed! The fighting is 300 KM from Bangkok. I think that fact is enough to give tourists a reason to just pick one of the dozen vacation spots in the world that are equal to, or better than Thailand.- Thailand’s Tourism Confidence Dips Amid Economic Challenges
So, you do not agree that one way to help kick start tourism is to have a "weak Baht" that provides "more bang for the buck" in terms of exchange rates? Alrighty Then! You are a genius!!!- Thailand’s Tourism Confidence Dips Amid Economic Challenges
Am I the only one who sees a direct relationship between a "strong Baht" and "weak Tourism" ??? Gosh, you make your country 10%+ more expensive for tourists and exports, and then wonder why the economy and stock market are in the toilet?? Really? Really?- Thailand Recognises Poker and American Football as Official Sports
The country is flooded, in a week the USA may impose economy crushing tariffs, the economy is stalled, the stock market is one of the world's worst, and household debt is out of control. Thank goodness the powers that be remain focused on what is truly important: American Football and Poker competitions.- Thailand Rejects 0% Tax Deal with US, Cites Risk to Local Farmers
Australian wine prices in Thailand are generally higher than in Australia due to taxes and import costs. While free trade agreements have reduced tariffs, high excise taxes in Thailand still significantly inflate the retail price of imported wine. I think what you are missing here is that the original conversation was about retailers price gouging consumers. I am not saying that Australian wine is not more expensive here than in Oz, I am saying the price difference is via lots of price increasing variables BEFORE a retailer even gets their hands on a bottle. If you are talking about the price of wine in a restaurant or bar, then you simply have no understanding of the hospitality business and alcohol pricing models, which at the 4 star + level are often 100% (or more) mark up. If you are going to cherry pick ONLY shipping costs, then let me wish you a nice day and let's just end this thread.- Thailand Rejects 0% Tax Deal with US, Cites Risk to Local Farmers

I don't know where you live, or if you actually live in Thailand, because where I live (North East) it is nothing BUT pick up trucks, and not small ones. Even in a decade in Bangkok, there were plenty of trucks, and of all the cars I have seen ... millions ... can't remember one Italian car ... except Ferrari and Lamborghini ... and if those are your idea of "Italian weenie mobiles" ... seek professional help. 555!- Thailand Rejects 0% Tax Deal with US, Cites Risk to Local Farmers
Mike, if you took off your DJT glasses and read what I wrote, I did not say it was socialism. I said, "It is hilarious that farmers in Red Hats cry about "Socialism" while they accept government handouts and farm welfare." And yes, Socialism, Fascism, etc, are words "Red Hats" throw around all the time, and rarely, in a context that reflects what those words actually mean. Anyway, extra "hair splitting" points for you today! 555!- Thailand Rejects 0% Tax Deal with US, Cites Risk to Local Farmers
You mean, why does wine from Australia. 5,000 KM ++ from Thailand, that then has to pass customs, be put on trucks, and distributed to retail operations in Thailand cost more than it does in Australia? Plus ... Thailand does charge VAT (Value Added Tax) on Australian wines, along with other taxes and duties upon import. The standard VAT rate in Thailand is 7%. Additionally, imported wines are subject to various other taxes, including excise taxes, municipal taxes, and health taxes. So, are you SURE " the importer charging whatever he feels like??" 555!!
