why is the post dated 1 day ago? They reannounced it apparently due to the recent tariffs. It appears they will use this for negotiating and possibly threaten to cancel it if they can't get a reasonable deal on tariffs.

Well Trump did put tariffs on Diego Garcia, so maybe he's anticipating them surrendering to the Chinese. Although, I think it's more likely he had no idea the only thing there is a US military base when he decided to tariff them.

Trump really didn't think much when he made these tariffs. The formula he used was simple and childish--The trade deficit divided by the total exports. Thats it. There was no grand master plan to hurt China. The only reason SEA got hit so hard is that the US has a big trade deficit with SEA countries. Other countries with nothing to do with China such as poor Lesotho got hit just as hard just because of their trade deficit.

Americans don't want to work in factories anyway, even for the current high wages in the US. That's the bizarre part of this trade war. Nobody wants the jobs Trump is trying to bring back.

Seems like Trump's plan if he has one. It would also fit with his talk of staying on after his term is over.

That seems like a certainty if these tariffs stay until then. I don't think Americans are going to tolerate the inflation that is coming or resulting job losses.

The seating depends on the airline. There is a lot of variation, especially in business class. Thai has the worst business class. Singapore's 787 is like heaven. 1-2-1, complete privacy and the best food.
