  1. So are all ladyboys getting charged for the same thing as this is a common occurrence: a male dancing in an indecent way while wearing bugger all. Or were the coppers short of a few thousand baht and the Japanese guy just happened to drive past at the right time?
  2. I'm guessing there is no direct correlation between the supposed drop in crime and this initiative. How can this system stop an assault from happening just because it recognised someone's face? Did it read the facial expressions and send out a policeman in time for a assault to be thwarted? Are there signs up everywhere advertising that people could be caught? My only guess is that it scans and identifies recidivist offenders and they get moved on. Or a control centre can communicate via public speakers to frighten potential attackers away. Can't see any other benefit this system would have.
  3. Smoking should definitely be banned on the beaches. 99% of smokers do not dispose of their butts correctly and flick them anywhere. Even yesterday a guy on the back of a baht bus finished his cigarette and automatically just threw it out of the road in front of me. Guys walking down the street just drop them down the drains. Best thing that could happen is to ban smoking on the beach.
  4. People being a bit harsh on the bloke. He's in a wheelchair, he's a mute and perhaps not the full quid. Not sure if he landed in Thailand with a carer or not. Maybe had a few guinesses and became far more vulnerable than 99% of us. The money stolen was probably most of his budget here so now left with nothing and on a disability pension. Wanted to enjoy himself in Patts like most do when they come on holiday, only difference is this guy can't stick up for himself like we can. It's a low act by the three of them, hope they get caught. But sounds like he's not staying in a decent hotel if no ID was collected. I also hope he learns from this.
  5. You obviously have never tried Snapper then...
  6. I didn't realise smoking within the shops was illegal as most shops are fitted out with tables and chairs and you see people smoking in there all the time. Obviously by selling coffee in there as well they think they can get away with it. Most appear to perhaps incentivise the local constabulary in order to allow their customers tte freedom to partake in an in-house drag 🙂
  7. Yes, but a lot of the pumpui girls rely on this market, could be devastating for them.:)
  8. This is obviously an opinion piece with a lot of textbook solutions and 'should do' statements. We all know the issues and know what should be done, but we also know it's not going to happen. I kept reading this expecting to see some sort of announcement that something (even a tiny think) was going to be done about it, but no, it was just another post that didn't tell us anything new.
  9. Mother works in a bar, it's low season and customers are probably hard to come by at the moment. Maybe (I repeat, maybe) the mother may have been looking at other revenue streams and maybe put her daughter in danger. Additionally they mention financial transactions which indicates a bank transfer and not cash. A 13 year old probably doesn't have a bank account so if this is the case then he paid an adult. Only a theory, no facts behind my opinion.
  10. Getting rid of the non Thai girls is a good thing. Ok, getting rid of the non Asian girls is a good thing. If I can't drive a tuk tuk in Thailand then these non Asian money makers shouldn't be allowed to apply their trade as well.
  11. Looks like a weed forming the shape of a crack
  12. Just do it if you are happy and you can afford it. But... Ensure that you set the boundary that you will not ever give her more than that. Remind her that it is double her salary. Set the limit and enjoy yourself
  13. "...especially under the cover of dark" So the ones that stood under the flood lights didn't need to worry about anything?😁
  14. Looks like I will be setting up a booth on Second Road selling personalised Medical Certificates using ChatGPT :)
  15. My biggest fear here is losing an eye from a protruding piece of metal from a Street cart, shop awning, a power pole or some other structure. They are unfortunately extremely common and extremely dangerous.
  16. That's exactly how I interpreted as well, although they threw in a few references to make the whole thing confusing. The goal seems to attract overseas money held by Thai nationals back into Thailand. It appears that they can bring it over tax free until the end of 2026. I read the article as stipulating Thai Nationals being able to do that... But it did get more confusing as the article went on...
  17. Plenty of 24 hour bike shops around the place, possibly just not in his immediate area.
