Again, total <deleted> - went to Tokyo in Jan and around 70% of people were masked, regardless of where they were - even while outside walking alone. Of course, like the Thais they do that ridiculous thing where they walk into a crowded restaurant with their muzzles on, only to remove them when their food arrives. I tell this to people back home, and they all rightly think it's deranged, yet in Thailand, locals and expats alike think it's totally normal. It must be the most brainwashed, low-IQ society on earth, no wonder the stereotype that Westerners in Thailand are loser back home is so potent.

You just admitted that you care about what other people think about you, meaning you wear a mask as a display of performative morality. Thus, despite presenting yourself as this all-benevolent, all-compassionate, altruistic, morally superior Westerner, you are simply wearing it to soothe your own ego. God, what a <deleted>. No wonder so many people despise mask shaggers. And it is skin off your nose, since you restrict yourself from breathing freely.

Apart from a few musical artists, I am not particularly fond of anything that comes from America. You can have moderate political views yet still realise totally irrational and cowardly behaviour when you see it. As I mentioned on another post, I live a nomadic lifestyle, travelling to all different parts of the world - thus I have a decent benchmark for understanding how over or not over covid countries are, and I can say that based on this that Thailand is the country full of the most irrational and frankly wimpy people. The only other country that comes close is Japan.
-
If you're wearing one because over half the people around you are, then no it's not out of fear - it's just pure cowardice underscored by a crippling inability to think independently of group norms, even when the group is beset by herd-like thinking. You can still be compassionate and think for yourself, the two are not mutually exclusive.

I don't reject them as a public health measure, I reject them because saddos use them to feign a delusional sense of moral superiority. I also reject them because they create a miserable environment, make communication difficult and fail a basic laws of diminishing returns test. If I felt wearing one was still worthwhile then I would, but they are not. The risk of covid is now so minute that wearing one constantly, even while alone, is total overkill and disproportionate to the severity of the situation. It's a very simple argument that most people around the world understand, but in Thailand, locals and some expats seem incapable of looking at anything beyond the lens of rigid public health guidelines. Based on the logic of mask zealots, we should wear masks for the rest of our lives - that is quite clearly insane and a truly miserable way to spend your already limited time on this planet.

Sad how many expats become just as brainwashed as the locals. It's like they surrender all their critical thinking skills in order to be accepted and feel a sense of belonging because they know anywhere else in their world, their nonsensical views on life, such as justifying muzzle wearing forever, would be rightly ridiculed.

Poppycock - has nothing to do with pm25, Thais are still terrified of covid. If people want to believe it is to do with PM25 fine, doesn't make it true though.

I came back for a couple of weeks recently. Now, I just lead a nomadic lifestyle, traveling to different places every few months. At the beginning of the year, I was in Central America - Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua e.t.c and wow, what a contrast, no masks to be seen anywhere, and people were so sincere and friendly. Thailand used to be like this, but masks are a total vibe killer and make a mockery of its 'Land of Smiles' tagline. In fact, it is actually rather insulting to other countries for them to cling onto to this, since other countries are far more deserving of this title.
-
Yes, you're right - Laos is much more pleasant than Thailand these days. To me, this country is the true Land of Smiles. When I say East Asia, I was referring more to Japan, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Japan is the only country more deranged than Thailand when it comes to mask wearing.

And yes, you make a good point about restricting the freedom of others - they unnecessarily perpetuate a climate of anxiety. All wholly unnecessary now that the virus is no more harmful than a normal flu. It is like continuing to see soldiers walking around with rifles even though the war has ended, it creates a negative atmosphere all because some cowards can't move on and/or want to feel as though they have some sense of moral superiority. Awful people on so many levels.
-
Even if they did work - so what? Wearing a filthy mask all your life, restricting your breathing and oxygen intake, making you look like a mutinous dog - all to avoid a virus that will just leave you with a slight fever for a couple of days. It is literally the worst trade-off in human history, yet so many morons willingly partake in it - mostly because they are either thick or total cowards.

Oh and it is no surprise that tourist figures are down. People go to Thailand because they have been told it is the land of smiles. Understandably, they expect to be greeted with smiley, happy faces - but instead they get something that feels like a dystopian B Corp movie. Either consciously or unconsciously, they reject this and decide to go elsewhere. The rest of the world rejected masks a long time ago, and it is high-time Thailand did the same.
-
Only in East Asian countries - go to Europe, and nobody wears a mask, nor have they for 3 years now. My Gran is 90 and even she thinks wearing a mask is a sad way to live life, just shows how weak and pathetic many of the younger Thais and other East Asians are for continuing to wear muzzles at all times in mid-2025.

Yep, Japan is a totally overrated society with so many social problems

Masks are for cowards and the mentally ill. I was fine with masks for a couple of years, but anyone who wears one now is a complete coward. Simple as that.

That is simply not true - nowhere near that many people wore masks before covid. I went to Thailand before 2020 and hardly saw anyone in masks, nowhere near 30% - there are tonnes of videos online that back this up. You are either lying to cope with the fact you live among brainwashed covid cowards who don't have the guts to live a normal life again, or are utterly deluded.

Health Six Dead as Covid Cases Surge in Thailand
MaskLover2025 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand, Japan, and Vietnam are the only countries in the world that still care. Hong Kong is pretty bad too. These people are addicted to fear and anxiety, incapable of living a normal and psychologically healthy life. I came back to Thailand for the first time in a while the other day, and I am simply disgusted by what I see; everywhere I go, I just see brainwashed cowards in face masks - it is utterly pathetic on so many levels. I utterly despise these people. Thankfully, it is only a short trip and I am off again in a few days, but my heart goes out to the rational, uncowardly expats who will most likely have to endure this atmosphere for the rest of their time in the Kingdom. -
It's not a hoax, but the reaction to the virus in East Asian countries is disproportionate to the severity of the situation. There is nothing about the current situation that warrants swathes of people walking around in shopping malls like mindless robots with their beloved muzzles on. You never see anybody in Europe or South America wearing muzzles these days, not even older people. Just proves that East Asians are weak, cowardly, docile, and sheepish. Sorry not sorry.

Why Stop Now? The Case for Wearing Masks Forever in Thailand
MaskLover2025 replied to MaskLover2025's topic in General Topics
Yes, not breathing clearly, and having a tiny bit of saliva going on my face occasionally is comparable to being soaked in urine - how could I be so foolish? Where exactly did you acquire these impeccable critical thinking skills? Was it from the prestigious University of Life? -
