I use Emirates all the time now and fly with hand luggage only.
Emirates is the only most 'vicious' airline out of UKesp Heathrow>when it comes to carryon luggage !! Made me stop using them alltogether for this reason only !! they are OK Everywhere else ! But London ...I use Birmingham or Manchester airports to avoid Heathrow, they are also checking the weight of your hand luggage at both airports.
Although the weight of my hand luggage has been under 7kilos every time, it brings a wry smile to my face when the punters behind or in-front of me can hardly see over their trolleys. Surely they should happy with travelers like us rather than punishing us because of a few extra kilos.
I know rules are rules but the total weight saving for them is substantial. I could take up to 32 kilos as i'm a silver card holder.

Where's the bowling alley Mr Conrad?????
Hi the bowling alley is upstairs beside the cinema, opposite big C.
It is tenpin bowling about eight lanes in total, had a few games there last month. Price about 45 baht per person per game, shoe hire is extra but not expensive, you have to use socks or buy from them 20 baht a pair.
Not well advertised outside but it is there. Hope to have a game again next week or so.

I stay in Nakhon Phanom three or four months of the year, I visit Sakon Nakhon regularly but only on a day basis, as only one hour drive from my house. I have never had to use any hotels in Sakon Nakhon, so cannot comment on any of them.
Any thing new in the shopping, restaurant, line there these days? Makro? Appreciate your comments. There is a big C there now a cinema, bowling alley and a small market opposite it, not sure when it was all built. Also a Makro on the main road into town. You said you were last there 5-6 years ago.

There are two Left Luggage booths at the airport, one on level four departures behind check in row P and the other one on level two.
Make sure you don't leave anything valuable in your case, many reports of items going missing.
Price is 100 baht per 24 hours.

Have you tried UdonMap.com in the accommodation section forum, or the Land and House forum.
Also try FBI Udon Estate agents sometime they have properties to rent.
Hope this is of some help.

I spend about four months of the year in Nakhon Phanom, I love it, the river views are fantastic.
Small town really quite quiet, there are the usual Karaoke bars spread about in town. Or try the Satang Restaurant (beside wat ma had tad) on the riverfront for decent food and a drink. During the day grab something to eat above the Indochina market and sit outside and watch the world go by.
During the day you can visit Ho Chi Minn's(spelling) house just outside Nakhon Phanom, he stayed here for a couple of years before the outbreak of the second world war. Or visit Tat Phanom just down the road.

quite a distance to go if Cardiff dont perform ! Then there would be the added expense of a Scottish visa !!!!!
You could post it by Royal Mail- but then again?
Visa's on arrival in Scotland are very fair, none of this 90 days in 180 thingymajig.

If you do not get one in Cardiff, try Glasgow.
I have a couple of mates who use the Glasgow Consulate for Non B all the time, the paper work they submit to support their applications is shoddy at best, but they get their Non B's no problem.
PS. Keep this to yourself, don't want to spoil it for everyone.

I have seen road signs for Siisongran just can't remember where. There is a crossroads about 15-20 Km outside Sakon Nakhon on the road to Nakhon Phanom which takes you to Si Songkhram, I think it is road 2132, but not sure.
Another way is off the Nakhon Phanom - NongKhai road about 10Km north of Tha Uthen.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I spend about four months of the year in Nakhon Phanom spread over five visits per year. I still work in the UK as not old enough just yet for my pension. I rent a house there with my girlfriend.
Just returned to the UK a few days ago, return flight booked for 21st November.
Don't know if this qualifies me as living there or not, but a frequent visitor for sure.

Hi, does anybody know what happened to the recent thread about PB Air's new schedules. I have searched this forum and also Thailand Travel forum thinking it may have beeen moved, but to no avail.
I copied the new schedule that roietjimmy posted the other day, but as my luck goes the computer completed crashed and needed to have windows re-installed.
Any chance of somebody re-posting the new schedule.
Many Thanks

A good point to keep in mind is that many models of Toyota are manufactured in Thailand and the manual is in Thai. They apparently do not have an English version.I asked for a manual in English when ordering my Vigo in Nakhon Phanom, delivered with the car at no extra charge. They are available, might just have to wait a bit though.

Raining for the last 36 hours here in Nakhon Phanom, sometimes heavily sometimes not so bad. A bit windy last night, but nothing compared to the North Sea in the winter.

Once you rent your car, Tomas Resort (also known as Udon Thai House) is worth a look also. You can find contact numbers on Udonmap.com.
Located a couple of Km outside Udon on the Sakhon Nakhon highway.
The rooms were 550 baht early last year, quite new and of a good standard. Small pool useful for coling off in, not for serious swimming.

Hi I'm also a Gold Card member with China Airlines, business class is not worth the £1000. plus they are now charging for this route. I have enough miles in my account for a one way upgrade and will use this in September for the last time.
I'm switching allegiance to Emirates, far superior in my opinion in every department.

Hi everybody,
I know this is a long shot, does anybody know of a good, qualified Thai teacher in Nakhon Phanom.
My Thai at present is very basic, I spend 3-4 months a year in Nakhon Phanom split over 5 visits.

Hi.
I stay in Nakhon Phanom about 3-4 months every year.
The only place that I know of that does van and mini bus rentals is located at the Grand View Hotel. The hotel is located on the same road as the River View hotel about 1/4 of a KM towards town centre.
The office is located on the right as you enter the hotel, they hire with a driver. Unsure of your cost but they wanted 1500 baht for a trip to Sakhon Nakhon in January this year.
Hope this is of some help, enjoy your wedding day.

Pretty sure there is an immigration office located at AEK Udon Hospital on the first floor.
I think it has part-time opening hours. About fifteen minute walk from bus station, or five on Tuk Tuk.

Hi Ray,
I know in Umpong Song (spelling) village located on the ring road, the Thai owner is asking 600,000 Baht for a piece of land big enough to build a three or four bedroomed house with reasonable sized garden. Unsure of the exact measurements of plots. If he builds the house as well total costs 2.4 million baht, excellent quality I viewed early this year, Thai owner is a real gentlemen as well. I have a couple of photo's if you want them PM me and will send them to you.
I looked at a piece of land about the same size just on the outskirts of NP, asking price 300,000 Baht, again unsure of the exact size of land.
My girlfriend has two pieces of land in the sticks one about 8 Rai, she has been offered 250,000 baht for it, but it is really in the sticks.
If you need any more info will help if I can, will be there on 7th December.
Best Regards

I know that is a very hard to question to answer but close is good enough if anyone has an idea, say a ria within 10 KMS of town on a paved road with electriity.
Hi Ray,
Are you after land cost or property costs, or both ?

Glad it's looking like working out okay. Hope they are easy to find and not too far from you.
I am a keen road cyclist myself (ex Ythan CC ), let it slip a little over the last few years (who hasn't) but hope to arrange a decent road bike here soon for trips from Nakhon Phanom.
There is quite a large group of keen mountain bikers here, see them in the morning and afternoons going out for a spin.
