  1. There you go. An Aussie Youtuber who was here by the seat of his pants was denied entry from Vietnam. His motorbike and other worldly goods are still in Jomtien. It's important to note that he wasn't blacklisted and will be permitted to enter when he has the correct visa.
  2. One day it might be AN board members who used the same systems to 'buy' real estate who end up in a photo from the monkey house.
  3. 10,000,000 Won is 221,000 THB or $6810 USD. Very generous of the actress. Her attention to the matter probably generated much of the rest of the funding. Let's hope the Thai student makes a full recovery.
  4. Not at all. I was taken aback by the vitriol and bitterness. Some of the posters make me worry about what living here long term does to elderly brains. Thankfully the bitter ones don't leave their homes. Many are afraid of their own shadows.
  5. More knowledgeable people will be along sooner, but you get an O-A from your home country. You could get a 90 day non O at home, come to Thailand, open a bank account with that visa, transfer 800k into it and extend as a non O from within Thailand.
  6. Part of the AN brain trust/ gatekeepers brigade. Could be former SAS as Thailand is rammed full of them.
  7. Those people tend to stock up. Why so bitter? Maybe you should take up drinking.
  8. You didn't quote my entire post, which clearly outlined who is affected and why. Do you work for the BBC?
  9. You're pro <removed> dictatorship in Ukraine is a member of the same tribe, so the line is quite blurry. To whom does his allegiance lie? He is not acting in the best interests of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine is now a dictatorial kleptocracy; any vestige of democracy was swept aside when the (admittedly talented) pint sized actor was put into power. Have free elections open only to those who are present in Ukraine now and see how the vote goes. It won't happen, of course, because the populace is sick of being cannon fodder in the Western/ Israeli proxy war against Russia. Have Israel send troops in, along with every other foreign government who supports this mess and see how they fair in elections back home. It's easy to send other people's sons off to die and watch other people freeze in bombed out huts because it suits our ideals.
  10. Who does the current restrictions affect? Tourists, casual drinkers and poor people. My estimation is that they want to limit the poor people's access to booze. Regular drinkers with cash will keep a supply at home, tourists will wait until 5pm or go to a bar or restaurant and casual drinkers just shrug their shoulders and drink something else instead.
  11. I'd be delighted. I want to be of economic benefit to the people of this country. Most of us prefer to pay our own way and not be a drain on the Thai social system. The dual pricing in national parks is a different matter. In Canada we have better waterfalls coming out of drainage pipes than this country has in their most notable parks, so there's no way I'd pay 400 baht to see a waterfall.
  12. Cowardice masked as genius. That's the modern UK. The WW2 vets are turning in their graves. What's become of their once great nation? Is this what they fought for?
  13. My ancestors (Canadians) did unspeakable things to Germans during the wars. There are videos on YouTube that go into some detail.
  14. Then send in Western troops and fight a real war. Watch our cities being bombed and our populace suffering. What's going on now is cowardly and disgraceful. I'd love to see the UK go up against Russia. UK would be wiped off the map in a day. The country that produces nothing and has zero natural resources should learn its place and stay in it, but they hide behind Trump and stir the excrement.
  15. I'd rather be speaking German than Arabic.
  16. It's a proxy war. Ukraine is the Nigeria of the white man. The technology and know how come from developed countries. Where are the F16s? The Ukies lack the intelligence to operate and maintain them. Pinging the Ghost of Kiev. Come in Ghost.
  17. To our Western way of thinking. Asians view real estate differently and tend to pass properties on to their children instead of making a quick profit. It's also a way of diversifying wealth. Any Thai who got clobbered back in 97 would have learned the value of diversifying wealth. Deposits in Thai banks are insured to 1 million baht. Good luck collecting that insurance if there's a bank run.
  18. There must be a few age appropriate Burmese fishermen who can't account for their whereabouts on that night in 2007. Round up the usual suspects.
  19. Screw with the visa and alcohol rules then offer free domestic flights. Which schizophrenic is making the rules?
  20. Perhaps opium dens will open in Pattaya and the fleshpots of Bangkok. Get the girls hooked on junk and they'll work for a fix. My den would be called 'Chasing the Dragonlady'.
  21. The article I read talked about domestic violence, which members here took to mean solely woman beating. It cuts both ways. There's no shortage of violent women here. Hell, even the teachers are free to open a can of whoop-ass on children as young as 6, not to mention the carnal interference that is far more traumatising than a poke in the chops. It boils down to a lack of respect for the rights of others and that needs to be addressed at a societal level.
  22. Every single one of those politicians could be charged with and convicted of similar charges. The politics here are old, nuanced, and certainly beyond my comprehension. Few things are as they appear to be.
  23. Perhaps to study it and learn how to intercept communications? The hardware is easy enough to acquire, so perhaps it has nothing to do with China.
  24. Nobody has mentioned Thailand's relationship to China or Starlink's relationship with the US government, both of which may be relevant.
