  1. @Cameroni I have read your history of your relationship with this girl in The Lounge. She didn't even engage with you when she was there AND she cheated on you. Now she doesn't even live with you, but you are still sending her money. The only reason why I write this here is that it is available to anyone who wants to read it for themselves. Stop trying to mislead us and stop deluding yourself. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
  2. Photos a bit too smoothed out... I won't go as far as stating FAKE, rather just just lacking the detail of an unadulterated photo. Please stop referring to them as your girls. You just pay for their time.
  3. That's weird. Does that mean that you also hate garden barbecues?
  4. I don't need to read a Wiki, don't be silly. I been going to them since the 20th century.
  5. That's not really a grill, but a kind of hotplate in a dome shape. The grill is usually somewhere else or you order one to your table. It has a wire mesh, as grills do. I guess your girlfriend didn't order one or take you to the big grill. You can see the portable version in this video, alongside the normally supplied cooking implements. https://www.facebook.com/61565749580171/videos/-all-you-can-eat-traditional-thai-bbq-moo-krata-269-baht-10-thailand-vlogs-let-u/1312445853465743 Show 'em how it's done.
  6. The dishes are usually small, but you can order all day. But it seems even their small dishes are bigger than the ones on your degustation menu. So an even bigger rip-off. We certainly enjoyed it. Went more than once.
  7. Rice? I've not ever had rice at a Mu Khrata 😊 Doesn't your girlfriend show you how to do it? Often there is a free communal grill where you can grill your seafood and meat. But for a mere 60 to 70 baht, you can order your own personal grill. So you can grill meat, sausage, hamburgers...whatever you would like to eat. You don't have to follow everyone else. Make it into your style of garden party.
  8. I'm glad that you understood in the end. So that's what I mean. Not much different from a ridiculously expensive degustation menu for 11,000 baht.
  9. Barbecue grill. Why would you steam meat?
  10. What's to not like? For me it's like attending a garden barbecue. You often take your own food to those too. So take the stuff you like and enjoy yourself. Sausage. Home made burgers... up to you. The cost compared to the experience, is negligible. I can be there for many hours.
  11. I don't hide it. Why should they care? It saves them money. People concern themselves about the strangest things. I leave it on the table in full view. They also get a generous tip for helping to create a pleasant experience. Changing the charcoal, topping up the soup.
  12. Take a look for yourself: https://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.com/2023/04/home-hanoi-restaurant.html à la carte buffet
  13. Nope. It is a made to order buffet.
  14. Easily. I have mine marinated from the day before, taken in zip-lock bags. That way you can turn into into a dining experience, rather than eating unidentified objects.
  15. I do them differently. I take my own meats with me, using only their vegetables and seafood. Sometimes you need to think out of the box. Tailor the experience to your preference.
  16. Perhaps you did not understand the buffet concept that I described. You order form the menu and everything is prepared when you order. There is no helping yourself. So not much different from the overly expensive degustation menus. D'Maris is more a traditional buffet, but quite extensive with some cook to order stations. Not really gourmet, but some good choices available.
  17. I don't wish to interrupt your debate, but the topic title is Expensive Thai Food
  18. How are they even different from a buffet? In Ha Noi, I went to a cook to order buffet restaurant. So you could order those small dishes until closing time, for a fixed price. We are talking the equivalent of 500/600/700 baht per person...not 11,000 per person. That's just pretentious. Similarly, but quite different, is https://www.dmaris.vn/dmaris-ho-chi-minh An incredible buffet with no time limit. Again in the 500 to 700 baht equivalent price range. Soft drinks included(coconuts, sugar cane juice etc when I was there) So, sorry, I don't get over excited by expensive food that has no justification for it being expensive.
  19. I wasn't referring to you. It's not your thread. In fact, your contributions have been interesting and on-topic.
  20. TBH a Bib Gourmand isn't really anything special. It's more to state that you can expect a certain quality. In other words not just the lowest quality of street food. But really nothing different than you will get from my local seafood market. Remember that you are in Bangkok, so seafood may be priced at a premium. Add in a bit of marketing and you are just paying more for the same thing. That is why I was really interested in something that maybe I haven't tried that you might recommend, since you may have visited a few or even many of the establishments that you mentioned.
  21. To be honest, the whole premise seems to have been a bit pretentious. Literally no discussion about the actual food at all. Stop it and get serious.
  22. Not true. Not even close I wrote about the high end restaurants that I tried and found wanting. Talked about the quality of ingredients utilised. Finally I mentioned that I use the highest quality of ingredients. But let's not make this about you and me. Have you any experience of higher end Thai restaurants? I tried in Bangkok. Soi 8, for one. Royal Thai food. Nice presentation and something different. You haven't mentioned anything to do with the topic at all
  23. Maybe you should wait until you are actually moving back home, before reminiscing as if you are already on the way back. You are stuck in Thailand for the foreseeable future. Has anything changed on that front? Enjoy your life now.
  24. So far, just peeing up the wall, boasting how much they can spend. I actually like good food and would have appreciated some actual reviews and recommendations. Not that I'm going to head up to Chiang Mai to do so...
